This is a cute 1910s house, in the trendy Cow Hollow/Marina neighborhood of San Francisco - between Russian Hill and The Presidio, walking distance from the San Francisco Bay, two blocks from Union St., twenty minutes pleasant walk through Fort Mason park to Fisherman's Wharf, close to the Palace of Arts and the Exploratorium. This area is really safe, pretty, and close to the Bay/Crissy Field. The intersection of Union St and Steiner St is one of many hubs of activity in this neighborhood. The #'s 22, 41, and 45 buses pass by this intersection. It also has many restaurants, bars, wine bars, boutiques, etc nearby. There is also a church on this corner, if you're into that (and this church does NOT have annoying/loud bells, so no worries there!)
Also, it is an ideal location for day trips to other parts of the SF Bay Area. The house has a beautiful fenced front yard, a private backyard patio and parking in the front yard behind the gate. The house has 2 separate floors/flats with 2 separate entrances; they are not connected. The second floor, which we offer to our guests, has the original douglas fir hardwood floors from 1910 and lots of windows (we keep the downstairs unit for ourselves). It has 2 bedrooms , a sun room with a futon and double pane windows, living room, kitchen, mini office by the kitchen and one bathroom. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and a 52' HDTV. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, dining table, and connects to the sun room with a sliding door. We have a small office space by the kitchen with wireless internet. The kitchen and the living room are divided by a bar from where you can comfortably watch shows on the huge flat screen HDTV or Blu-Ray disks, or you can do so from the living room. The house was remodeled in 2009 - all stainless steel appliances, furniture, countertops, and other amenities are new.
Corporate rentals are welcome.
THIS IS A NON SMOKING PROPERTY.

we LOVE this city.
Mariana purchased this cabin in 2008
We were lucky to find a two story house in this highly desirable neighborhood. We are close to restaurants, outdoor activities, museums, etc. - many of them are walking distance or approachable by public transportation. We enjoy all the city can offer and would love to share it with our guests!
Cow Hollow/Marina is a generally affluent neighborhood in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Our place is just two blocks away from trendy Union Street with its shops, health spas, wellness centers, restaurants, and cafes. You can walk to the Marina, San Francisco Bay, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Palace of Arts, the Presidio, Fillmore and Chestnut Streets. You can jog or walk to Crissy Field and Golden Gate Bridge. You can also travel by bus and cable car to Union Square, Golden Gate Park and to world class museums like the SF Museum of Modern Art, the Asian Art Museum, the De Young and the Legion of Honor. Ferries, bus, or bike rental can take you to Sausalito and Tiburon.
Your home was so well located in relation to Union St, close to walk yet very quiet. I will admit to one thing that points to the safety of the neighborhood: we had come back Saturday evening after our last great dinner together, and apparently had not closed the front door firmly shut. The wind during the night blew the door open...who knows how long it stood open before someone awoke and discovered it that way. Then we also found that we had left the key in the door all night long. This sounds so irresponsible of us, I know, but I'm telling you the story because I'm sure we were not disturbed because the house sits so far off the street and it wasn't seen. Another good feature of your home.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and thank you so much for allowing us to stay there.
Stop looking-You found your vacation rental!
Let me just start off by saying my family and I absolutely LOVED staying in this home! It was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The location is great and the amenities are wonderful. 2 bedrooms (our kids loved having their own room), laundry on site, great water pressure throughout the house, and a nice sized back yard to relax in or for your kids to play in! The owners were very nice and provided great customer service. We will definitely be back. I recommend this great home to all!
My wife and I spent a month here and agree with other reviewers: it's 5 stars in every way you can measure.
1. It's very comfortable, with 2 excellent BRs, a nice LR and kitchen, and all the conveniences.
2. It's quiet at night, which was very important to us light sleepers.
3. The location in Cow Hollow, near the Marina, is ideal. It's within 3-4 blocks of a dozen fine restaurants on Union Street (such as Belga's, a Belgian restaurant; Flores, upscale Mexican; and Capannina, Italian) and about 6 blocks in the other direction to the Safeway grocery store and perhaps 8 blocks to Fort Mason. It also helps that there are no steep hills nearby. We love San Francisco partly for those beautiful hills that give it such a distinctive character and thrilling views, but it's also a relief not to have to climb them all the time if you just want to walk a short distance.
4. Finally, Mariana and Val, the landlords, were great to deal with from beginning to end. One morning we emailed them to ask if they might have an extra floor lamp for the LR because we're great readers. Mariana ordered a new lamp and had it delivered later that same day!! I mean, who does this kind of thing!? We were amazed.
A remarkable rental.
This property was amazing! It was in a perfect location, great for walking to local shops/restaurants as well as short Uber rides to other attractions! Marina was very responsive to my emails and requests and was available on the day of arrival for last minute needs! We had 5 girls staying here and the space was very large and welcoming. We had enough room to relax and the kitchen was wonderful for meals!
Although we did not meet Mariana, our stay from the time we arrived to the time we left went without a hitch. All instructions were easy to follow. The apartment was clean, spacious and had everything we needed including a smoothie maker for my diet conscious 17 year old son! The office/3rd bedroom was great as my teenage children did not want to share a bed. The pullout futon was comfortable enough for a futon.
We had a car but did not need it as we walked just about everywhere or when it was cold at night we used Uber which was never more than about $12. The supermarket was close and came in handy for breakfast items.
Thankyou Mariana, it was a pleasure to share your home.
We were two senior couples seeking to renew our experience with San Francisco after a few decades absence. We drove from southern Arizona but aside from a drive to Sausalito, decided to use Uber to get around. To meet our needs, location was the most important factor.
This location would be hard to beat. It is situated in Cow Hollow, only one block off of Lombard Street and a brisk walk from the Fort Mason Center. Ghirardelli Square and the SF Maritime Historic Park are only a little bit farther. Fishermans Wharf would not be too far for strong walkers. A Safeway is nearby too.
Unfortunately, one of our foursome had recently injured his knee so vigorous walks were out for us. Fortunately, our location put us in the center of Uber activity. We made 12 UberX trips and never had to wait for more than four minutes for our ride. For our longest trip we paid about $15 but the typical ride cost about $8. For the four of us that was cheaper than the bus.
The accommodations are the upper level of an early 20th century duplex. It has been nicely updated with modern appliances and fixtures. Laundry facilities are a nice touch though we didn't need to use them. The single bath was not a problem for us four good friends. The fenced off-street parking was second only to location in our priorities. Parking in SF is difficult and expensive at best. Our only caution is that coordination with the owners who live downstairs is a must. The driveway will accommodate three cars nose to tail. It is important to agree who will need to leave and and what time so the right car will be at the street end of the drive.
Because of the timing for our trip, we rented at the winter off season rate. Though that was an especially good value, we would not hesitate to rent at the full rate if our visit was in high season.
We certainly recommend this place for your SF lodgings. We will try to stay here again if we make another trip to the city. Enjoy San Francisco!
Walk to Fishermans Wharf, to the Exploratorium, to the Wave Organ a wave-activated acoustic sculpture located on a jetty in the San Francisco Bay by Crissy Field, to Crissy Field itself on the way to Golden Gate Bridge. Take your young ones to the Moscone Recreation Center. Check the events and the resident nonprofit organizations at the nearby Fort Mason, and if you are there on Sunday morning - visit the Fort Mason Farmers' Market
