Activities & Attractions: In a small, peaceful town like ours, you may have to 'settle' for laid back activities such as hiking, horseback riding, touring the magnificent Smokies, spleunking, geocaching, naturistic sightseeing, bluegrass, daylily and old-timer craft festivals, and the most popular being riding a tube for hours on end! The Little River runs the entire length of Townsend and we are proud to have a three mile bike/walking trail ... lighted! A new and very popular arrival to our little town is the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center and I'll see that you get FREE tickets to tour, just ask! Ahhhh.... relaxation for a change!

Bearfoot 2 -- home-style luxury in the wilderness

  • 5 of 5

We loved Bearfoot 2 cabin. Immediate proximity to the national park was the reason we selected this property, but we were wowed by the simple but elegant architecture of the cabin, the cleanliness inside and out despite previous guests checking out just a few hours before our arrival, and the breadth of the amenities. My favorite spot was the expansive screened-in porch. When not plodding along the Appalacian Trail (and, at my age, "plodding" might even be too active a verb), I would usually be found rocking one of the chairs on that porch during daylight, reading at the large round table under the lights come twilight, and then sprawled out in the hot tub afterward. We cooked half of our meals in the just-like-home kitchen and ate the other half in the surprising diverse Townsend community nearby. The cabin was so well-prepared that I found no reasons to call for any help, but advance introductory phone calls from Billie and the notes she left made it clear that she was available for anything. Whenever I get an itch to spend another vacation in the Smokies, I shall check the availability of Bearfoot 2 again.

We found Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

Billie, Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our visit to Townsend and Bear Foot 2. Such a lovely little cabin in a beautiful nature setting that had everything we needed and more. It was clean and well supplied with all the necessities and comforts of home. The hot tub and Jacuzzi were so therapeutical and relaxing at the end of our day. Thank you for going out of your way to accommodate our needs. Oh, you can easily hear the river from the screened in porch especially at night when the traffic does not interfere with that beautiful rolling river sound!! What an awesome extra to add to the amenities of Bear Foot 2. We are already planning to return later this year! Thank you again for your hospitality and allowing us to stay in Bear Foot 2. The best getaway in Townsend

  • 5 of 5

This was the best of all of our stays in the Great Smokies area. The location of this cabin is perfect. The peace and quiet (no cell phones, no internet, no interruptions) was a perfect get away. The spacious porch was perfect during the rainy days and gave us the opportunity to unwind in the hustle and bustle of life. We will be back.

Loved the cozy cabin. Quiet and the screened in porch was nice. Close to Caves Cove. Only complaint, no internet service. 2 time here and will be back. Thanks Billie.

Fantastic cabin in great location

  • 4 of 5

Cabin was fantastic and was perfectly located next to the Smokies. We loved the Jacuzzi, hot tub, fireplace, bed etc - all fantastic, and the welcome from the owner was great too. The only negative was the shower, which was fiddly and had no power, otherwise a perfect cabin!
