Carpinteria Cottage Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-5)

This charming and stylish, beautifully refurbished cottage is 1.5 blocks from Carpinteria State Beach, 1 block from Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park and a few blocks to the heart of town. Included bikes, beach chairs, beach wagon, and cooler all make a fun-filled day at the beach effortless. When you return, rinse off the salt and sand in the warmth of the outdoor shower.

We were honored to have our cottages (#248884 & #336069) chosen to fill the "Little Gem" category of Carpinteria Beautiful's annual Home and Garden Tour in April 2012. They were also featured in Carpinteria Magazine's winter 2010 edition.

The cottage features bamboo hardwood floors, tasteful furnishings, central heat, ceiling fans in the bedrooms, and all the comforts of home. Beautiful, original paintings by local artists adorn the walls. There is a bedroom with a queen bed and another with a bunk bed with a twin on top and full bed on the bottom. A lovely patio in the yard with an outdoor dining table is the perfect spot for a sunset dinner. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There is a fully upgraded kitchen with stone countertops and all new appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave and ice maker. You will also find a washer and dryer for your convenience. We offer a library of beach and summer themed DVD's and wireless internet at no additional charge. Games and books are in the cupboard for mellow days around the house.

The surrounding neighborhood is very peaceful and the neighbors are friendly. There are several antique shops and wonderful restaurants within walking distance, as well as nature trails and wonderful bird watching one short block away. Or, hop on the bikes and head to town! Thursday afternoons offer a fresh Farmers Market. The town of Santa Barbara is a short drive away and hosts a zoo, museums, shopping, golf, art events, botanical gardens, the Queen of the Missions, wine tasting and more! Stop in Summerland for great antiquing, then glamorous, celebrity-filled Montectio along the way.

Our cottage offers a charming place to stay while on your vacation. Make it your home-away-from-home!

About Kat Hirsch

Our family bought 2 neglected, unloved cottages on one lot one 1/2 blocks from the beach. We expertly and extensively refurbished them throughout, upgrading EVERYTHING and making them very livable and lovely. They are now complete and we are ready to share them with people that will appreciate the fine quality of our charming cottages.

Why Kat Hirsch chose Santa Barbara County

Carpinteria is a charming town. The beach is amazing and there are many other local activities and good restaurants. We live in nearby Santa Barbara.

What makes this cottage unique

Beach walks, dinner on the patio, entertaining friends and family, bird watching at Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park which is 1 short block away, days at the beach with the kids, watching them swim out to the platforms with all of the other kids.

Kat and Jed-

What a wondeful way to start a new year. Your cottage is delightfully decorated, fully furnished, nice and warm. You covered every detail. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed every minute of it.

Third Visit to HH

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for our third time at Holly House in Carp.

Everything about the place is perfect for us. Perfect size for the two of us, and our daughter, who lives in Carp, can visit and hang with us. Beautiful Patio for eating and sunning. We use the grill for cook outs. Kitchen is nicely furnished for meal prep. Great assortment of rec equipment. House is always in perfect condition when we get there.

Location is perfect. Two blocks to beach; a short walk to downtown Carp, which has everything you need.

Highly recommended!

Relaxing and beautiful escape

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying in this adorable and comfortable cottage for two weeks of pure relaxation. The location makes the beach easily accessible with a walk of just 2 blocks straight to the ocean. The decor creates a zen like home away from home with all necessities provided. We enjoyed exploring local restaurants as well as some just minutes away in Santa Barbara. Other nights we enjoyed staying home for a BBQ including produce from the local farmer's market. The bikes were fun for the adults and college age kids. Kit was extremely helpful and immediate in answering any/all questions or needs. We look forward to visiting next summer as well.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year to stay at Holly House. We are a family of 5 and love this beach cottage. It is cozy and has everything you need. We love all the kitchen amenities, tons of towels, games, and beach accessories (wagon, chairs, boogie boards, etc). The location to shops and restaurants is perfect. And the beach is only 2 short blocks down. My husband loves that he did not need to drive anywhere during our stay - literally, he parked the car when we arrived and did not use it again until we drove to the airport to head home. With everything you need at the cottage or within walking distance, you can truly have a relaxing and stress-free vacation. Thanks for another wonderful stay Kat!

Exceptional Beach Cottage in Carpinteria!

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to be able to book this beautiful cottage! It has all the amenities you could think of for a perfect beach vacation. Our family of 4 (2 adults/2 toddler boys (5,3) enjoyed our stay here. Upon pulling up to cottage, we could see the ocean down the street and our boys couldn't wait to go play! Unfortunately the weather wasn't the warmest but our boys didn't care and jumped into the ocean without even putting on their swimsuits. Thank God for the heated outdoor shower that they used before coming into the house :). Every amenity you could imagine from toaster, waffle maker, and even a french press coffee was provided. Plenty of towels (beach and bath) were available for us that we didn't have to do laundry every day. The kids loved having the apple tv and internet available to watch their shows when they were done playing outside. Both rooms beds were exceptionally comfortable and you didn't want to get out of them. I used the beach cruiser everyday to ride down to Lucky Llamas and get a acai bowl for breakfast and donuts for the rest of the fam (one suggestion would be to add a basket to one of the bikes to carry groceries in). We even had some relatives over one night for dinner and family game night with plenty of room for everyone. The closeness to both the beach, downtown shops/restaurants, and the train station were all pluses in my book! Definitely try out the Thai restaurant on Linden for some great Thai food!

Cozy Cottage near the beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this cottage - so clean, nicely furnished. Beds were comfortable. Beach was in easy walking distance. We brought kayaks along, and took them to the beach and went kayaking in the ocean - even saw a pod of dolphins! We would definitely stay there again!

Tiny but Definitely Livable, high quality cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were two couples and a 3year-old, and we made out quite well because the couple with the small child were good sports about the sleeping arrangements. The property manager told me the room with a double bed and a single bunk on top was usually understood to be for 3 children. The "grownups" bed was particularly comfortable and hard to leave. Kitchen well equipped, and from the shutters to the bathroom fixtures, the house is outfitted with quality. The rental agent was very helpful in answering questions ahead and flexible about making our arrangements, which was particularly nice for a last-minute trip.

Nothing I read mentioned the easy walking distance from this property to both the Salt Marsh Nature Reserve and the State

Beach, which are both fine walks.

The cottage is not quite as near to the beach as the photos suggest, and the beach is of a different character. Because of the way Santa Barbara harbor changes the movement of sand down the coast, the beach has become very narrow and is actually a tall berm to protect the closest houses. Still, the vista is lovely and a short block further there is child-friendly access to a little bit of "regular beach."

Owner's Response: Dear Wendy: Thank you for taking the time to write a positive review of our cottage – I appreciate it. As we discussed prior to securing your reservation, the cottage is cozy. I’m so glad it comfortably accommodated your large group. The sand berm at the beach this time of year is placed by the City of Carpinteria to protect homes directly on the beach from king tides and high surf during winter months. The extra sand is removed in the early spring when the beach is returned to its natural state, which is wide and flat. I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed the cottage’s close proximity to the nearby park and preserve, as well as the quality of the cottage. I look forward to having you as my guest again one day! Kat
