Why Barbara Rourke chose Florida Central Gulf Coast

Our condo is located in the vacation district so there are many activities in close proximity both walking and driving. Busch Gardens in Tampa is only about 1 hour drive. Disney/Sea World/Universal Studios about 2 hour drive. Clearwater Marine Aquarium (home of 'Winter' the dolphin from movie Dolphin Tale) is only 1/2 hour drive.

What makes this condo unique

A car is not a necessity as our condo is also on the beach trolley line with a stop right out in front of the building. There is also bus service available and cabs. There is a shuttle service @ most airports 'SuperShuttle' for transportation to and from airport.

The unit and property were very nice and clean

  • 3 of 5

First, I will talk about the unit. It was very roomy and clean. The couch and chair were a little worn (you sink into a hole when you sit in them). The unit had plenty of beach chairs. However, there were no beach towels in the unit. There were only two bath towels for each bathroom (4 total). The balcony is very large and comfortable but the sliding door was very difficult to open and close. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. John's Pass is right across the street and the beach is just steps from the condo. The owner, Barbara, was easy to work with and communicated with us very well.

Now I will talk about the other "owners" that apparently live there. My father (a 2 time war hero) recently passed. Two of my nephews were deployed at the time of the funeral. When we found out that both of them would be home that weekend, several of my family members flew in and booked condos. We were not all able to get condos at the same place. However, we did have 8 staying at Sandy Shores (two units). Four were staying next door at Beach Place. My 82 year mother lives in Tampa and I invited her to stay with us Sat & Sun. Because we had the most people staying at Sandy Shores, I invited my other family members to join us for a cookout and celebration of my father. We tried to be respectful of others by keeping our group in one area but, apparently we were monopolizing the end of the pool area and the "owners" complained. Apparently, anything they were unhappy with was blamed on our group, even when we were not even at the pool. The manager told us that we could not take up the tables and the monopolize the end of the pool, because the owners wanted to sit there and use those tables. She told us that our guests would have to leave immediately. She said that we could finish cooking our food but had to go to our room or the beach to eat it. The entire time we were waiting for our food to be finished the group of "soap opera" owners stared us down while pacing back and forth and made us feel really uncomfortable, which put a dark cloud over our celebration of my father and my nephews . Granted....there were a total of 17 of us. However, it was not like we were a bunch of teenagers on spring break. Most of us were 50+ years old.

I would not stay here again, only because the management and the other "owners" did everything they could to make us not feel welcome.

Wonderful Trip ... Check Out the Sun Set from the balcony (;-)

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this condo from mid Jan to mid Feb 2016. The condo was exactly as described. It was clean and had plenty of room for the two of us and our two short term visitors. While not a beach front view, it was the next best thing as you get a clear view of the beach and ocean from the side balcony and it was a pet friendly environment. The outdoor area was very clean, the pool water was warm, with canopied tables and lots of empty lounges to choose from. I enjoyed using the gas barbecue grills (cleaned daily) many times during our stay. Despite some uncooperative weather, we managed to find plenty to do in the area. Being directly across from John's Pass is a real plus. Thanks Barbara we had a great time..!

Great Location and Pet Friendly

  • 4 of 5

My husband, mother, and I spent 11 days over the Christmas holidays with our 2 pugs at this condo. We loved the location, pool, pool area, and closeness to the beach, as well as the balcony with the partial Gulf view. We could see dolphins swimming and jumping in the Gulf from the balcony.

Barb communicated well with us before and during our stay. We did have a few minor issues that needed to be dealt with while we were there and she was quick to answer emails and attempt to deal with them.

We were impressed with the cleanliness of the condo upon arrival, especially with how clean the fridge was. The condo was a good size for the 3 of us and our pets. It also provided us with the majority of the amenities we were looking for. However, it could use some updating in terms of flooring, the kitchen cabinets and counter and master bath. Other areas that could use improvement would be bathroom linens, as well as supplying or updating some of the small appliances. The kitchen lacked a cookie sheet and pizza tray. These things did not hamper our stay, but I do know that a number of condos at Sandy Shores have been updated.

All in all, the location, pool area, pet friendliness and Barb's communication all contributed to making this a wonderful holiday for us.

Very nice and clean condo. Location was great. I would recommond this condo!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the condo for 3 nights and was very pleased with this condo and dealing with the owner. Owner was very good with responding back to me and very helpful. There is plenty of room in condo and is well stocked with everything you need. This condo is a side view of the ocean and the view is good. There is a nice patio with a very nice table and chairs to sit outside to enjoy the view. The condo had very nice beach chairs to use and plenty of them. It was updated and the leather furniture was very nice. I would recommend this condo!!!!
