Ideal setting on the lake!
Lee was wonderful to work with and so communicative and lovely! The property is ideal: rustic, private, beautiful and unique. We had a great 4 days on Lake George!
We had a beautiful weekend - the weather was awesome , the cabin was delightful - the view was spectacular 😄
You really did have incredible weather. I wish I could guarantee that for all our guests, but then some have said that their favorite times at the lake was when a dramatic thunderstorm rolls along the mountains, with the rain on the roof and the waves roaring below you. This is a very sensuous place ... it fills your senses to the brim! So glad you had a great time and we hope to see you again. All the Best, Lee
A hug for your soul
Amazing place with hosts that truly care about your enjoyment of their property
The setting is gorgeous, so we just want to deliver a comfortable place that lets you soak in it. We do truly care and do all we can to meet our goal and your expectations. Now if we could just control the weather! But you'll notice that one guest liked the thunderstorm the best The thunder rolls down the lake between the mountains sounding majestic and I have gotten amazing pictures after a storm like that for you photography buffs.
Relaxing with all the comforts
We spent a long weekend in this pleasant cabin. Everything is laid out perfect. If you look around you can find just about anything you need in the cabin. The screened porch is wonderful. The loft is perfect. Our teens played board games most of the night and didn’t keep us up because our room was located in the front of the cabin. Having the kayaks and canoes made it a lot of fun. I was hoping my husband would get some well needed rest and he did. Sleept like a baby! Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven.
You're welcome! I am so glad you had a great time. Everyone loves the loft. A group of 30 somethings from a wine club rented the place and chose to hang out up there because it is so cozy and made them feel like kids again...except for the wine. :-)
I am glad you found everything you needed in the kitchen.
Yes, and that ever-changing gorgeous view from the porch seems to relax even the most stressed souls. One man told me he felt like a clock that was wound too tight, and each day on the lake he felt the tension loosen a bit more. We are delighted that we can provide a simple, comfortable place where that can happen and where families can unplug and make memories. Thanks for starting out our season with such an encouraging review. It means a lot to us. May all the people that follow enjoy it as much as you did.
Rustic, but comfortable cottage right on the lake.
We had a very nice stay. Price was very reasonable and this place makes for a perfect cozy getaway. It rained all weekend so we weren't able to take advantage of the canoe and kayak. If we had, I wasn't looking forward to fitting it down the stairs and then lugging it back up the steep bank and not sure I would have been able. I haven't stayed in a placed that required you to clean at the end of your stay and there was ample warning about this. I appreciate keeping costs down (as most rentals require you to pay $150 or more thats tacked on to your price); however, if you are going to require your guests to clean, I suggest that you make sure there are enough paper towels so they can do an adequate job. I kept worrying I was going to run out.
Andrew, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. The feedback is very helpful to me and other travelers. First, I think I forgot to offer you the option of having someone clean the cabin for you. It would have cost $200. Having offered it to 22 new guests earlier in the season, and having them all prefer to keep the cost down by cleaning up themselves, I got out of the habit of offering it. My bad.
I was in the cabin after you, and there actually was another roll of paper towels on the top shelf in the bathroom hidden behind the extra toilet paper, and there were nine more rolls under the bed in a rolling bin. There is always a learning curve when you visit a new place. I wish you had texted me asking if there were more, so I could have helped you out with that. I don't mind being texted and my number is displayed in the cabin.
Honestly, my expectation is that folks would use the sponges I provide under the kitchen sink and in the bathroom. There were many clean sponges in both places.
It is true that getting the kayak and canoe up and down the stairs can be challenging, especially alone, and especially because our kayak is a high quality, heavier, stable Old Town kayak suitable for fishing. We are working on finding a way to keep them down by the water, but it will require permitting from the LGA which means it is not an easy fix. People who rent for a week usually leave them down on, or tied to, the dock which limits the hard part to once a week. Until we get that fixed, I guess folks will need to bring a strong friend with them ,or hope there is one renting the other cabin. Most folks don't mind lending a hand with that.
Thanks for giving us a try. I am sorry the weather didn't cooperate. Lee
A beautiful place to relax.
I stayed at this location for three days with my GF. The view is amazing, it is very quiet, usually the only sound we could hear was the waves lapping against the shore. The cabin was more than enough for two people, clean, and tasteful.
Highly recommended. Lee has easily accessible, quick to respond, and very friendly.
We should all follow your example and take a long weekend to relax. I think that having a simple and comfortable place to stay while soaking ourselves in beautiful scenery is the perfect remedy to the busy, stressful lives we all tend to lead.
This cabin is unique in that it hangs over the bank, thus its name Overbank, so that you can hear the waves lapping below .... even from the bedroom and loft. Just 20-30 feet back and you wouldn't be able to hear them any more. We are grateful that Granddad built it in 1955 before there were laws prohibiting building within 50 feet of the lake. Our family and our guests all love it which is why some of them have been coming back each summer for decades. It is rare to find an open week in July and August, but there is a lot of time open in the Spring and Fall which are my favorite seasons because the lake is so quiet and peaceful with just the calls of Loons and incredible fishing in the Spring and the Canadian geese and the mountains dressed in colorful leaves in the Fall.
Travelers, Jared is a newly independent architect that I am considering using on a project. If you need one too, email me and I can give you his contact information.
All the Best to you Jared,
Lake George is known as “The Queen of American Lakes”. The crystal clear water, pine scented air and gorgeous mountains that change color throughout the day and seasons draw people back to the basics. The scenic beauty causes people to relax a little more each day as they swim, hike, boat or stare into a fire with family and friends.
