Sleeping Bear Dunes House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This family owned vacation home has many premium features providing that luxurious vacation or get away on beautiful 20+ mile long Lake Leelanau. The home is available year-round and has air conditioning. The shoreline on this part of Lake Leelanau has a nice sandy bottom. The house is suited and equipped for all ages of the family - for the seniors that don't like a lot of steps; the get-away for couples that include some nice luxury features; and amenities for the kids such as the sand box, sand toys and shallow water with a nice firm sandy lake bottom.

Lake Leelanau is an all sports lake for swimming, boating, water skiing, and great fishing for walleye and bass. The lake depth at shore is shallow about 15 inches deep with great swimming for kids - the lake depth gets about waist deep at the end of our 190 foot private dock. You can take your boat right across the lake or to the towns of Lake Leelanau, Leland, or Cedar for excellent dining, sight-seeing or shopping. Gas service for your boat is available at several locations on the lake. During the summer, a pontoon boat is available for rent and available at the dock. If you bring your own boat it can be tied to the dock. There is a public boat launch within a couple blocks from the cottage

The cottage is perpendicular to the lake providing lake views from half of the home including the kitchen and island, family room area and master bedroom. There is a large glass slider off the kitchen that leads onto the large deck on the lake side. Patio furniture and table along with the gas grill are on the deck. The cottage is less than 100 feet from the water's edge. There is a fire pit just a few yards from the lake. The cottage is located on a private road away from traffic and a nice environment for the kids away from traffic

The cottage has four bedrooms and sleeps eight. The master bedroom has a king size bed, private bathroom with slider onto deck. One bedroom has a queen bed. One bedroom has twin beds which can be made up into a king if preferred. One smaller bedroom has bunk beds.

The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a separate laundry room.

No Smoking. No Pets, local kennel is only 20 minutes away.

The waterfront cottage is just a short drive from Lake Michigan, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, Shopping at Glen Arbor, Leland, Lake Leelanau, Suttons Bay, Traverse City. Golf is nearby at Leelanau Club, Sugar Loaf Golf or Manitou Passage Golf Course. Two Casinos - Leelanau Sands Casino in Suttons Bay and Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg. Many sightseeing opportunities throughout the entire county. The nationally recognized Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes is about 15 miles award, more than 25 local wineries and restaurants available.

My wife and I purchased this home in 2008.

we have two homes on Lake Leelanau and get out as often as we can and rent the vacation homes at the other times. See our other vacation home listing on the vrbo site property number 356160.

Why Larry Fleis chose Sleeping Bear Dunes

We love the area, the lake and amenities in the area. The 20+ mile long lake has so many things you can do or places to visit on the lake.

What makes this house unique

All the things we like to do for our recreation are in the area, close by, or available on the water.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We have vacationed in this lovely home twice, renting the pontoon boat both times. The home is clean, modern, exceedingly well-kept, and ideal for our group of 4 adults and 3 children. Unfortunately, this year was challenging due to a severe storm on our second day. Power was out for two days, with trees and power lines down, broken, uprooted, and shredded. Many roads were closed, too, because of downed trees and power lines. Although we sometimes had to carry water from the lake for the toilets for two days, we were generally able to cope, with the owner's help. He was there often during the two days, and used a generator to supply some electricity. The second day, he had a new well pump installed and a new, more powerful generator purchased and connected. Then, the home's power returned late Tuesday. The owner's efforts fortunately enabled us to stay and enjoy our vacation, even during the two days without power. He and his wife even told us we could shower in their nearby home that had power! In short, this is great vacation home. Also, it's near many fabulous attractions, for adults and children alike. I'm sure we will return.

Location, Kids, Entertaining, Campfires, Lake Front!

  • 5 of 5

You never know what you're going to get when you rent a house site-unseen. This cottage/home did not disappoint! The cottage was more like a home, and immediately upon our arrival, I knew we were going to be happy. The home was very clean when we walked in, and the pictures were a good representation. The back yard and sand box were great for the kids. The water is shallow through the end of the dock, so it was great for the kids to swim. The fire pit was so nice and there was a ton of firewood supplied by the owners. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were up to date and water pressure was good. Extra refrigerator in the garage was really nice to have. Kitchen was VERY well equipped. We had a lot of family over one night and didn't need for anything. Truly abundant in the kitchen! There were toys for the kids too. We used the grill daily, and it worked very well. This is a great place for people with kids, and who need a little extra sleeping room. By the way...i believe all of the bedrooms had black out shades. This was really nice! We had 6 adults and 3 kids very comfortably. I travel frequently and consider myself a tough critic. For an Up North vacation...This home is GREAT!

Perfect Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family getaway and was so much more than we expected. It was very clean, comfortable, and the perfect layout for our family with a toddler and babies. The kitchen was very nice and had everything we needed for our stay. The 2 year old loved the sandbox and the lake had a large shallow area that was great for playing in the water. The deck and landscaping were beautiful and perfect for lounging around, enjoying the amazing views. There was also a great firepit that was perfect for making s'mores at night.

We rented the pontoon boat for a few days and had fun exploring the lake. There were a few sandbars where we anchored the boat for a bit of swimming. We stopped at Boathouse Wineries for drinks and live music. And there was a cute restaurant across the lake where you could dock the boat. The lake was larger than we thought and was pretty quiet considering we were visiting so close to the Fourth of July.

Overall, this was the most well-kept rental we have ever stayed in. Larry and his family were great to work with and made sure all of our needs were met and more. We are so thankful for their hospitality and would definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.

Wonderful Vacation with Kids and Grandkids

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful Lake Leelanau home. Everything you need for a great week at the lake is included. The Grand kids loved the sandbox, beach, roasted hot dogs and s'mores. Adults sat on the deck and enjoyed the sun. Beer tasting, wine tasting, shopping in Leland, Suttons Bay, Northport and ice cream in Cedar. We'll be back!

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

This rental is impressive! We loved it! The home is extremely clean and has a very nice layout! It was very comfortable. We have a 2 year old and he LOVED the sandbox so in turn, I loved the sandbox! It kept him busy for hours and we could enjoy the huge deck and beautiful view! The dock is impressive! It has solar lights along the entire dock with a platform halfway out for you to lay out on. We loved having the option of renting the nice pontoon boat. We took a ride to the north side of the lake to a restaurant where you can dock the boat. The landscape is beautiful and well kept. We had a campfire every evening and Larry had someone make sure we had plenty of wood. We travelled to Sleeping Bear Dunes and to Traverse City. This location is great! Larry was great to work with and made everything very easy! He was available when we needed and did not pester us with too much communication (like we have had with a different rental). Thank you for the wonderful accommodations! We would love to stay here again!!

Fabulous Rental Home

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have rented this place. It is phenomenal. Since the last time we (group of friends) were there, an outdoor kitchen and hot tub have been added. The home has the most up-to-date appliances, everything is clean and in good repair, kitchen is well appointed, comfortable furnishings, more than you can expect in many rentals.

The location is also excellent for seeing the peninsula. We probably visited 20 wineries in 2 days, all conveniently located. The house is a particularly good value if you rent in the off season, a great time of year for wine country. Don't pass this one up!
