Everything about this place was great. I loved the location, the views from the balcony, and the comfort of the house. Kevin was a great host and made the trip incredibly easy for us (along with suggesting a lot of really great places to eat and shop). We can't wait to make it back.
I recently stayed here with my kids. We were involved in an event on the South Waterfront, and it was a perfect biking commute along the Willamette every morning and evening. The flat was just the right amount of space for us, the deck over the Willamette was perfect in a city that is growing by the day, and the jazz concert in the park one evening was an extra treat. I've spent a lot of time in Portland, and was so glad that we happened upon this property as a home base during the week. Kevin and family were easy to work with too.
Loved this place. It was our first trip to Portland, and hopefully not our last.
It was convenient to downtown and neighborhoods. We had our bicycles and hardly ever go it the car unless we were going outside the city. Probably too far to walk to go downtown but perfect for bikes.
Sitting on the deck watching the river traffic in the morning and at night was so relaxing.
Kevin is a great host
Cannot say enough about how much we love this place. Have stayed twice....once for a month, and now our second stay of two weeks is wrapping up. Just love it...the charm and coziness of the cottage, view of the river and access to everything. Hard to leave. Thanks Kevin.
We were in Portland to deliver our son to college, and wanted somewhere close to Lewis & Clark College. We had been touring the Pacific Northwest, visiting cousins who live in BC, Canada for vacation and needed a base to outfit him for college life, and to wait for "Parent Preview Days", while he was on a backpacking trip. This turned out to be perfect! We had washer and dryer available so that he could start college with clean clothes, we cooked meals (mostly breakfasts and dinners) to save on our travel costs. And my husband loved the breakfasting on the deck overlooking the river so much, that he didn't want to leave!
Kevin was easy to work with, and we found the place quite clean, and comfortable. I highly recommend this place for family get togethers!
We stayed for two weeks at this riverside cottage in the spring of 2013. As long term Portland residents, now living elsewhere, we were delighted to experience life along this short stretch of riverside homes, the only such neighborhood remaining in south Portland. Our Portland friends were keen to visit, since the location is so unique. Very easy to take the bus, but also enjoyed the 40 minute riversidewalk to the South Waterfront neighborhood to catch the streetcar to downtown. Also easy to park a rental car. Five minutes to a great grocery store; park and playground access right out the door. River views are beautiful here - remember to bring your binoculars to study birds and boaters. We loved having a (presto log) fire in the small stove on chilly spring evenings.
Interior of this old cottage have been very tastefully updated, and decor is simple, hip, and pleasing. Kevin, the owner and designer/rennovator, was very prompt and thorough with information and help. Kitchen, laundry, and bath all well provisioned and easy to use. As always, if you like to prep food and cook, you must bring your own sharp knives. One tiny proviso - the outdoor front steps up to this unit, on the second floor, are a bit steep, and might be challenging for a disabled or older guest.
All in all, such a great visit. Thanks, Kevin!
