About Eliane Lomax
I was born, raised and educated in Lyon. I now live in the western United States but return to Lyon as often as I can to keep in touch with family and friends. I love this beautiful city.
Eliane Lomax purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Eliane Lomax chose 3rd Arrondissement
I recently bought the apartment to spend more time in my home city. The building is located in the heart of the neighborhood where I grew up. My old high school (lycee) is two blocks away. From the north balcony, one can see the church where I made my first holy communion and the city hall where I was married (many years ago).
What makes this Apartment unique
Besides the super-convenient location of the apartment near everything in Lyon, what makes my heart rejoice upon opening the front door is the incredible view of the rooftops and monuments, and the sense of space and freedom standing on either of the balconies -- in the center of the city and yet near the sky. Having both a North and South large balconies lets one choose which side to sit out according to the seasons.

Excellent Well located apartment
We were just delighted to stay in this very beautiful well appointed property for ten great days. The unit has big windows and is very clean and well furnished. It is close to shop for groceries, getting to restaurants, shopping at the markets. The day bike rentals (Vélo V), is only a few blocks from its location. We were worried about the lacking of air conditioning in the unit for our mid September stay, but it was absolutely no problem as it cools off at night and the unit has open balcony doors that create a cross breeze. As a bonus the nights are very quiet and we slept great! We had friends who stayed in the 2nd Arrondisment area and ended up being above a bar only to be kept awake into the wee hours of the night. They were so jealous of this unit we stayed in. Would definitely recommend this unit and we hope to go back there when my husband retires and maybe stay for a month. We love Lyon.
PS. Housekeeper only speaks French when she gives you the keys but she communicated well with charades and gives you a book in English with checkout instructions, etc
Beautiful, well furnished
This is a beautiful property, wonderfully furnished. Welcomer did not speak English, and we do not speak French, but it worked out fine. By all means secure this apartment if you can.
Beautiful, spacious apartment
A wonderful week spent in this lovely apartment, with such beautiful views. The only thing lacking was some air conditioning in the bedroom, as it was very hot during our stay. However, so long as all the doors were open, we were able to encourage a good breeze through the apartment.
Check in process was fairly smooth but was certainly made more challenging by the language barrier. We were given a 30 minute tour of the house entirely in French. Thanks to a lot of miming and the help of Google Translate, we were able to communicate.
The area is very central and convenient, with lots of amenities in the neighbourhood. We enjoyed our stay.
The apartment was as described. It was spacious and perfectly furnished, with a balcony overlooking the city and another one on the opposite side with a neighborhood view. Great lighting and seating. We had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Flores, who looks after the house and she gave us a very thorough briefing, in French, on the home. Watching the swallows zip around in the early evening and morning was a delight. The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood with restaurants, bakeries, and groceries close at hand. We even went around the corner to the Haraman and enjoyed a north african--style steam bath, exfoliating scrub, and massage. Lyon was a fascinating place to spend 8 days and this apartment was a perfect base. It was great not to be based in the Old Town, thronged with tourists, but in a neighborhood of apartments, restaurants, and administrative offices. We arrived at the Perrache bus station, not the much closer Part Dieux train station. Connections to the apartment from the bus station were not easy to figure out on arrival so we took a taxi for 15 euros. Once in the apartment, it took us a bit to master the subway and tram connections, but we prevailed. It actually is faster to walk (20 minutes) than to take the subway from the apartment heading across the river to the Old Town.
Felt completely at home.
This was our first visit to Lyon and this apartment was the perfect base to explore this lovely city. This was the most well equipped apartment we've ever visited. We truly felt at home. In spite of arriving fairly late at night, we were met by charming Madame Flore, who gave a very thorough introduction to the amenities. Everything functioned as it should, the amount of space and comfort was great as were the two balconies. The neighborhood was quiet but close to many restaurants, as well as bakeries and the marvelous Les Halles. We spent little time on public transport as Presque Isle and Vieux Lyon were within walking distance. The Parc de la Tete d'Or is also a great place to visit. Lyon was a calm and relaxing city after Paris. Highly recommended, and when we return we will definitely stay in this apartment.
Surprisingly spacious and well equipped
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment is well located: just steps from excellent dining and a short walk to the center of town. We were particularly impressed by how well equipped the apartment was. We didn't do a lot of cooking, but the kitchen was much better stocked than most apartments we have rented. While you're there, take a glass of wine out to the porch and enjoy the view of the city and the distant mountains.
Lyon is France's second largest metropolitan area. Steeped in over two millenia of history, it is a thriving, exciting modern European metropolis. Its location is unique, astride two major rivers, Rhone and Saone, two famous hills, Fourviere and Croix-Rousse, and surrounded by the picturesque Monts d'Or. It offers world-class museums, among them Musee des Beaux-Arts, Musee des Tissus, Musee de Gadagne (city history and puppets of the world). Theaters, music venues (classical and popular), a summer festival in the two Roman theaters, fascinating architecture spanning many centuries, luxury boutiques. Plus what Lyon is famous for around the world: gastronomy! With over a thousand restaurants, from glorious to humble, in the French tradition or bringing the flavors of far-away cultures, visitors will invariably be rewarded with memorable meals. The apartment is ideally located to explore the region: wine villages of Beaujolais and Rhone Valley, medieval Perouges, and the Alps nearby.
