Overview

Dodge Ridge Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Comfy Cabin is conveniently located off Highway 108 in Tuolumne County, CA, in the lovely vacation home community of Cold Springs. In the Stanislaus National Forest area of the Sierra Mountains, at an elevation of 5,500 feet, it's a quiet, cozy getaway surrounded by pines, cedars, and clean mountain air. About 8 minutes from Pinecrest Lake and 20 minutes from Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, this charming retreat is fun year round.

This very clean two-level, 3-bedroom, 2-bath cabin on 1/3 acre will sleep 8 people, all on quality mattresses. It is fully furnished with all the amenities, including electric heat, a beautiful gas wood stove, and laundry facilities. Comfy Cabin features an open-beam ceiling, a fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious deck, and ample parking for 2 vehicles.

Comfy Cabin's windows are large and let in lots of natural light. Sit and chat in front of the wood stove while watching the snow fall, enjoy the forest sights and sounds from one of the redwood decks as you read or bar-b-que, or take a walk to Cold Springs Market. This peaceful residential area is perfect for strolling or riding bikes. Take advantage of the many year-round recreational opportunities. Activities include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sledding, fishing, swimming, boating, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, spelunking, and hunting. Various mountain lakes, wilderness areas (Emigrant, Iceberg-Carson, and Hoover), Yosemite National Park, and the historic gold mining towns of Twain Harte, Columbia, Sonora, and Jamestown nearby complete this beautiful alpine region. These towns offer quaint shops, antiques, gold panning, museums, and even a stage coach ride!

Pinecrest Lake is a gorgeous fishing and swimming lake. It offers a marina with rental boats, 3 swimming beaches, hikes, rental bikes, an art gallery, a beach-side snack shack, a coffee kiosk, restaurant, sports store for fishing gear, etc., and a small store with groceries and hardware items all in a rustic setting. And if you decide a movie is in order for the evening, Pinecrest Lake has an outdoor ampitheatre (set next to the lake) which shows first-run movies after sunset. The kids love that!

If you're interested in some good restaurants, about 3 minutes away you'll find Mia's which serves great gourmet pizzas and pasta dishes. Eight minutes away at Pinecrest Lake, you'll find a charming landmark rustic restaurant called The Steam Donkey. Fifteen minutes down the hill to Mi Wuk, you'll find Andy's Mountain Grill and Deli for some of the best sandwiches anywhere. Andy is known for making his own burger buns for his gourmet burgers and other creative sandwiches, freshly-cut potatoes for his fries, great garlic ketchup, a variety of fabulous homemade cinnamon rolls, and imported beverages. Up the hill about ten minutes away, you'll find Strawberry Lodge for a meal and a game of pool. The restaurant has a view of a beautiful stream (a Stanislaus River tributary), and the old-time general store is across the street. Most of these places offer outdoor seating also. Great food tastes even better in such beautiful forest settings.

About The Owner

As a family, we loved vacationing in this area of the Sierras, especially near Pinecrest Lake. As we continued spending more time there enjoying the winter snow and summer swimming, hiking, and fishing, we decided it was time to invest in our own place. The high Sierras are spectacular, the sky is as blue as it gets, and there are so many activities to choose from! (Click on our slide show.) We hope you'll enjoy it too and will want to return often. ~Peter and Barbara, Hughson, CA

Great time at Comfy Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long ski weekend in this peaceful alpine retreat. The space was very comfortable for my wife, her parents and our two young daughters. The house was clean and well maintained and the kitchen was stocked with all the cookware and utensils many other rentals don't have. The weather was mild during our stay so we were even able to enjoy the spacious deck adjoining the main living area. We also relaxed in the living room which had awesome reclining furniture. It is conveniently located near Pinecrest recreation area and a short 10 minute drive to the base lodge of Dodge Ridge mountain for those who enjoy skiing. We'll certainly look to stay here again when our vacation plans bring us back to this area. The price was also a great deal for a 3 bedroom 2 bath!

We stayed here hoping to get to enjoy some snow. We did! It was wonderful. Everything about the cabin is in good working order. The owners keep it very nice and clean. We played games and relaxed in the cozy cabin. We would love to return soon!

Perfect location for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Comfy Cabin with some friends (five of us, total) for a wedding that was in Leland Meadows. We did not spend much time at the cabin because we were in the wedding, but it was in a perfect location away from the hustle and bustle of Pinecrest. The cabin was adorable and had a comfy feeling to it. The beds were very comfortable! The surrounding area was also an adorable little location, great for walks (which we saw many people doing in the morning). In addition to that, the owners are very accommodating and easy to work with! My security deposit was returned within a week and a half after our stay, as well! Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Great family cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at the Comfy Cabin a few times in the winter with another family and it was perfect for what we needed. It was very clean and cozy and beautiful surroundings. It is a great layout for either one large family or two families as well. We have enjoyed our time there each of the times we have visited.

GREAT getaway!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in early May...and had the best time! The cabin is well equipped (with some outstanding cookware, BTW) and VERY peaceful. The layout allows privacy but plenty of space to gather (although we didn't use the deck as planned because we got SNOW two of the days we were there!!). My husband fished the Stanislaus River several times, we both hiked, went to Black Oak for some gambling one day, hit a couple of restaurants in Twain Harte, and I lazed away the days reading and relaxing. The stairs will give you a bit of a workout, but once you get into the cabin, it is beautifully quiet. Great spot from which to explore the area, reasonable rates, and very nice people to deal with! Wasn't sure about being away from wifi and AT&T cell service, but it turned out to be a great thing to unplug for a week! Thanks, Peter and Barbara!!!

Wonderful family cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has rented Comfy Cabin twice now, and will definitely be returning. Last year when we arrived, my two daughters literally squealed in delight upon seeing the cozy twin beds in their upstairs bedroom. The layout of the cabin is great for 1-2 families. My husband and I stayed in the King bed upstairs, but you could fit a whole other family in the bedroom with bath downstairs as well. The dining area is the perfect size for eating and board games, and the kitchen is adequately equipped for all your cooking needs. One of my favorite activities is curling up in the comfy chair-lounger with a book, snuggled under a blanket after the kids are asleep. If you need granite countertops, steam shower and swanky modern minimalist décor, then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a well-loved, clean and well-cared for cabin with all the amenities of nearby hiking and skiing, this place is for you! Also, I’d like to say that the owners were responsive, very easy to work with, and even called me afterward to ask if I had left a phone under one of the couches—very considerate! I can’t wait to return!
