Enjoy the peace and tranquility of a quiet mountain lake, towering pines, amazing sunsets and dark night skies filled with bright, sparkling stars. Our lakefront cabin overlooks Saturday Pond, a spring-fed, crystal clear lake which is home to several loons, hawks, great blue herons, osprey and an occasional eagle and moose. The lake is 179 acres with maximum depths of about 25 feet and has bass, perch and pickerel in its waters which makes for great fishing. Saturday Pond is located in the town of Otisfield, Maine about 35 miles northwest of Portland near the Sebago Lakes region.
This charming vacation retreat is neat, clean, comfortable and has many of the amenities of home. A sun-filled great room houses the living and dining areas and provides spectacular views of the lake. Step out the living room door and enjoy your morning cup of coffee on the deck. The cabin has lots of open space to relax and unwind and can comfortably accommodate a family of five. Besides the master bedroom, the other bedroom has a single over double bunk bed. The great room has two futons which can open up to sleep additional guests. Or, inquire about our other cabin located nearby - great for another family or set of friends. Your very own private compound on the lake!
Perfect for those lazy days of summer filled with swimming, canoeing, fishing (off the dock or in one of the lake’s coves), reading a book in the hammock, picking blueberries, lobster dinners, barbecues, and cooking marshmallows for s’mores over the fire pit at the lake's edge. For a change of scenery, drive to the Maine coast for the day to swim at one of its many beaches, visit its lighthouses and quaint towns. Or, enjoy the crisp days of autumn, fall foliage and breathtaking mountain views while visiting the many antique shops, gift stores, local farm stands and country fairs. Designer outlet shopping abounds only forty-five minutes away in the Mount Washington area of North Conway, New Hampshire or about an hour’s drive to Freeport, the home of the original LL Bean store. Or, visit the many shops and fine restaurants also an hour away in the Old Port Exchange in Portland.

Welcome to our beloved cabin! My husband and I bought this cabin when our daughter was 15 months old. At that time, we were looking to buy a small “get-away” cabin in the Sebago Lakes Region. My sister and her family lives in Otisfield and my husband had previously lived in Harrison on Long Lake. We looked at 52 properties (to be exact), before I happened to see an ad in the local newspaper about a cabin for sale on Saturday Pond. Saturday Pond was near and dear to my heart, as I had spent many summers on the lake since I was eleven years old. My parents worked at a boys’ summer camp called Great Oaks Camp (GOC). Incredulously, the old camp’s property abutted the property of the cabin we were interested in purchasing. It was a dream come true to be able to buy this cabin, re-connect with family and old friends associated with the camp and have my daughter and my nephew spend summers on the shores of Saturday Pond as I did. We treasure our crystal clear pond, the many friends we have made and all the memories we hold of wondrous times on the lake. We hope you will have a peaceful, tranquil stay - a return to nature among whispering pines and the call of the loons. - Jim and Ellen
Ellen Attaliades purchased this cabin in 2002
We had a wonderful time. The cabin was very clean and had all the amenities you'd need. We loved staying up late at the fire pit right on the water, the sunset. Lots of cute things around the house to look at. Shower was great, water very hot and nice shower head. Good wifi and satellite TV. One queen bed very comfortable. All other beds were futon matresses and I find those pretty hard. The owner was very responsive and we had a wonderful weekend visiting this special place.
Our family of four (five, if you count the dog) loved our week at this cottage. The home is very clean, comfortable and well equipped, including a dishwasher, washing machine/dryer and a/c. The spacious living room with cable TV and DVD player was especially welcome on our one rainy day. Most days were spent down at the beach where the kids swam in the clear, warm water and the dog ran around with the neighbors dog for hours. My husband caught several good size bass while I caught up on my reading. We definitely want to go back to Peaceful Pines!
The intoxicating beauty of Saturday Pond hung in the air like a theatre curtain. The trees made a rustling sound as they swayed in the soft wind next to our cabin. The lakes loons made a high warbling sound, almost as a celebration for the lake itself and our arrival. Our neighbors were as cheerful and respectful as any prayer would request. One could say I am in love with this pond…and yes I must confess to all that I am head over heels in love! But to ignore our host Jim & Elaine in this equation and evaluation would be a travesty. I have rented and leased cabins and homes across America and the globe in some nutty pursuit of the perfect vacation. Let me honestly state that this couple exceeded my high bar of expectations and firmly concerted the standard all others should be measured by. The cabin was immaculate, the lake…well you know that… their professionalism and hospitality was an art form in itself. Jim is my kind a gentleman: Honest, pathologically hardworking and a never taking himself seriously. Ellen is the type of lady you endorse as a friend before she speaks a word. Her intelligence, eloquence and focus go hand and hand. We left Saturday Pond and this Vacation rental with great sadness as Adam & Eve certainly must have felt when they left the Garden of Eden. In fact we did see a friendly snake on the dock just below our cabin…but our temptation to return was in our heart long before the snake appeared.
I would like to recommend this place to others. But my selflessness in keeping my Eden to my family remains within.
We stayed here over Columbus Day weekend and had a great time. The house was comfortable, spacious, well maintained and was decorated to make you feel at home. The view inside and outside the home was beautiful. The yard was great for running around ,having a campfire and cooking on the grill. Our kids and dog spent their time on the dock and canoeing in the pond. This place would be great in summer especially for the kids to swim. I loved just sitting and reading a book, it was a very peaceful enviroment. I highly recommend it if you want to get away and relax.
