We've provided all the comforts of home on 'The Garden Island' of Kauai, one of the world's most spectacular settings. This charmingly furnished house, with traditional Hawaiiana decor and lanais, is surrounded by a lush tropical garden. The house is perfect for multiple or extended families featuring two deluxe master bedroom suites which include private en suite bathrooms and king beds. A standard master with a queen bed has a private bathroom, and the two remaining bedrooms share another bathroom.

You will seldom need your car after arriving as both the beach and charming Hanalei Town are within walking distance with its excellent restaurants, lively night spots, and shopping. The house is at the end of a quiet cul de sac, away from traffic. Only a block and a half away is the world-famous, crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay, ranked by National Geographic Traveler as one of the top ten beaches in the world. This exceptional setting is never overwhelmed by tourists as it can only be reached over the historic one-lane Hanalei Bridge.

In the Regular season, guests have option of closing off any one or two bedrooms of their choice for a reduced rate. Please check calendar to see what's available. We accept reservations ten months in advance.

Ideal vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of ten adults had plenty of space including restrooms! Three generations of our family enjoy traveling together and Grandma has spoiled us with her top notch rentals through the years. This house is comfortable, has a well stocked kitchen, two washers and dryers, good quality beds, bedding, linens and furnishings. It has a lot of stairs so keep that in mind. Also a short easy walk to the beach! We loved it and will try to stay there again.

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

Bottom line; the house is fantastic. I have been a contractor for 28 years,

primarily working on high-end custom homes so I have seen a few. The home is not ostentatious, it offers a calming, warm and inviting understated elegance.

I see the two larger bedrooms as master bedrooms in that they are larger, each having its own bathroom, the upper bedroom having a separate sitting or reading room with two walls of windows offering views of the greenly lush yard and mountains. There is a separate dining area with repeated views of the mountains and surrounding lush back and side yards and a rear patio deck with views of the same. Our family found the rear deck to be an especially tranquil and beautiful place to be. The center of the home holds the ample kitchen and large living room, which leads to the three other bedrooms.

There are enclosed and open patios on the street level, the enclosed one is sizeable and of course there is a laundry room. The house has snorkeling gear, some kiddie beach toys for the tots and several smaller Boogie Boards.

I have only been to The Hawaiian Islands twice. Both times it was Hanalei Bay and both times we stayed at The Taj Ma Hale; I have no desire to see any other islands or stay anywhere else than “The Taj.” Kauai has all I need from “touristy” things to do down to the restaurants and markets within walking distance of the house.

The beach is an even shorter walk from the home.

Without detailing the main sight-seeing spots on Kauai, If you don’t take the helicopter tour in a helicopter with the doors off, you have not lived. You will see the most notable sights on the island in one hour and see things you cannot see any way else. It was probably the most amazing and moving thing I have ever done in my life. Do it.

The only bummer was that the owner can't offer bikes due to liability issues and as spacious as it is, it only sleeps ten. Also, the government of Kauai protects those noisy roosters! We stayed there twice, hope to do so again.

Paradise.

Owner's Response: Thanks very much, TW. Looking forward to having you back again. It's true we can't offer bicycles because of liability issues but they can be rented right up the road in the village along with surfboards etc. - C.C.

Excellent Hanalei Bay Rental

  • 5 of 5

I've had the pleasure of staying in this home twice, both with the same group of friends. The accommodations were excellent. The house is spacious, with the perfect layout. I had my own bedroom and bathroom and didn't hear anyone else in the house once I retired for the night. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to make it a home away from home. My favorite part of the house was the back balcony, where we had morning coffee while listening to the birds and enjoying the beautiful view. There are two washers and dryers, which enabled me to pack light. The house also has a large closet filled with beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and beach toys for the kids.

The only thing better than the actual house is the location! Located the end of a quiet cul-de-sac just down the street from Hanalei Bay, there was no traffic or street noise whatsoever. It was beautiful to begin each day with a quiet walk along the beach. It is also a short walk from the town where there are lots of shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend the Taj to anyone, and look forward to returning.

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

My family has had the pleasure of staying at the Taj twice now, once on an adults only trip & once with my 8 month old daughter. Both stays were absolutely wonderful, we loved everything about the Taj & can't wait to return.

For starters, it really is all about location. The Taj is nestled at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac that backs up to a gorgeous tropical jungle. There's no traffic or noise, just birds & the local island chickens. Every morning we'd have coffee on the big balcony off the dining room & enjoy the incredible view. Hanalei Bay is just around the corner & we'd take some of the provided beach chairs, towels and umbrellas & walk down to the bay. This was such a short walk we didn't even need our stroller unless we wanted to bring beach toys. Just a couple blocks down from the bay is the pier & one of the most delicious taco trucks we've ever had, we could have gone every day! The Taj also only a short drive from Poipu, the baby beach which is perfect if you have young children who want to splash in the warm, shallow water.

A little ways past the bay itself is the little Hanalei village that's full of delicious restaurants, shops & a fabulous masseuse, & Princeville is only a short drive if you want even more options. We took full advantage of the local restaurants on our first adults only trip, but when traveling with my daughter we preferred to take advantage of the large, extremely well appointed kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with tools for everything from BBQ to making cookies, they even have a second refrigerator in the laundry room so you can stock up at Costco on your way in and there's plenty of room for all your groceries. Having a full kitchen made traveling so much easier and I'd say it's a necessity for traveling with children.

Another necessity on the list, especially for longer stays, is a well appointed laundry set up & again the Taj doesn't disappoint. They have two washers & two dryers so you can have clothing & towels going at the same time & you don't need to pack as much clothIng. They also provide all the bath & beach towels you might need & all sorts of surfing & sailing & beach going equipment.

The house itself is just lovely, bright, airy & decorated in traditional Hawaiian themes. Our favorite room to stay in is the downstairs master, it has lovely Hawaiian windows, a big & comfortable king bed & a gorgeous bathroom with a giant tub.

We love the Taj so much & would recommend it to everyone!

Great family rental!

  • 5 of 5

We were two families of four, with different ages of children, and it accommodated us very well considering that there was a room with two double beds for the younger boys, and a room for each of the teenagers and two separate master bedrooms for each couple. The house allowed all of us to have plenty of space. We were very close to the beach and had ample chairs coolers and boogie boards to use for going down to the beach. I would definitely recommend this home if you want to be close to the beach and the north shore sights, hiking etc.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5

Another great vacation at the Taj Ma Hale. We can't say enough about the location and the layout of this home. Great house for gathering with family and friends. The neighborhood is super quiet and all the neighbors are very nice and respectful of each other. The house had everything we needed. Well stocked with towels and toys for the beach . We can't wait to come back. Special thanks to Clark and James for letting us stay in your awesome home

Hanalei Bay, ranked one of the top ten beaches in the world, is a great place for walking, jogging, swimming, surfing and boogey boarding. Snorkeling at Tunnels Beach is a short drive away. Our deck is a great place for bird watching.
