This is a beautiful home that is perfect for a couple or two. It is so peaceful and quiet with its own private beach access. Stay here if you can.
A true slice of Paradise more than we had expected can’t wait to go back
If you don’t want bars and nightlife luaus and the touristy stuff you have the right place. This place is unmatched in its beauty and tranquility
Thanks John. SO glad you enjoyed your stay.
I brought my 90 year old dad and 88 year old mom for them to relax and read their books and just enjoy the elements of nature. The house was perfect for them. It reminded dad of his childhood home growing up on Oahu. The house was clean and airy with lots of light and equiped with everything we needed. The grounds are lovely and inviting. Jessica was a pleasure to work with to arrange our stay.
Thanks so much Donna!! Really appreciate your review. SO glad you and your folks had a good time here!!
The property was terrific!!!! Everything was beautiful.
The view from the comfy chairs on the lani was worth the price of admission alone. The cottage and cabin were very clean and everything worked nicely. The kitchen was stocked with the needed items for a nice grill dinner. I thank the owners for the opportunity to stay. The whole family loved the 7 days spent soaking up the Molokai spirit. Thank you.
This is where you want to stay!
We spent one of our best vacations ever at this house! It was clean, spacious and accurately portrayed by the pictures. The architecture and the décor fit perfectly with the Molokai landscape. We spent a week here and took trips around the island: Kalaupapa (leper colony), Halawa Valley (the waterfall hike with Greg is not to be missed!), Kumimi Beach, three beaches on the west shore, Mass at Father Damian Church and the night-time bread run in Kaunakakai, the Molokai Museum and Sugar Mill, and a couple of nights at the Hotel Molokai. We also spent plenty of time just hanging out at the house--kayaking to the fish pond, snorkeling at the beach, and relaxing on the covered lanai.
Two features of this house should not be overlooked or underestimated: the lanai and the outside shower. Every morning we had breakfast on the covered lanai and enjoyed a beautiful view of the northwest shore of Maui. It was also very convenient to rinse off in the outdoor shower after going for a run or playing in the ocean, without having to set foot inside the house.
If you are considering this property and have concerns about privacy or location, we would reassure you on both counts. As far as location, the only places where you can get a house on a beach on Molokai are on the western tip or on the southern side of island east of Kaunakakai. The western beaches are not very sheltered and notoriously rough. The southeastern side (where the house is located) is protected by a long reef that makes swimming and kayaking very safe. If you were to try to get closer to Kaunakakai than the house, you’d find that the water is more shallow and muddy red. In addition, driving west of the house is fairly easy—there really is no traffic on Molokai and the roads are relatively straight. By contrast, the road east to Halawa takes longer than expected, so there is a benefit to being located further east. Given these considerations, there is no better place to be on Molokai. As far as privacy, we did not see anyone from the neighboring properties and seldom saw the couple who were staying at the cottage at the same time as us. The layout of the houses and the foliage really helps cut off the folks staying in the house from those in the cottage. This allows both the house and cottage renters to fully enjoy their privacy.
We can't imagine a better place to stay while enjoying all that Molokai has to offer. But VRBO is limiting the length of our review so that's it!
If you want to get away from it all this is the perfect place to hang your hat for a week, year... forever. We did not want to leave! Clean, comfortable and most of all peaceful. The grounds are beautiful. We stayed in the cabin and next time we will try the house. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy what Hawaii is all about. Aloha to our host!
