Short Term Rental Home Permit No: STMO 2015/0004

PRIVACY & SECLUSION AWAIT.....

Our oceanfront estate has a beautiful 1300 sq ft beachfront home and 400 sq ft studio cottage situated on two private acres, with over 450 feet of beachfront. There are panoramic views of the ocean from both house and cottage. The property is very private, offering incredible tranquility and peacefulness. It is quiet and rejuvenating. There is a reef off shore, which protects the shoreline waters, providing safe swimming and snorkeling year-round. We are located on the lush east end of Molokai, which is thought by many to be the most beautiful area of Molokai. We are also one of the few properties on the east end which is set well off the road, affording maximum quiet and privacy. We are over 500 feet from the road.

PLEASE NOTE: The rates and calendar on this listing are for our HOUSE. If you are interested in our cottage, please see our VRBO listing #25688. See below for complete rate information in both the house and cottage. Please email us or more information and to book.

The landscaping creates the feeling that you are in a park on the beach. It is very private and peaceful here. We truly offer a unique property, rarely found in Hawaii. One of our guests said: 'It's the kind of place you find once in a blue moon. We are so lucky to have found you.'

The home and property in Molokai were beyond our expectations. The pictures on the website did not do it full justice - tropical, peaceful, private, secluded and just lovely. The overall house amenities were superb - excellent kitchen and so well appointed for the "chef" in all of us. The island itself was fantastic and the genuine warmth from the islanders so welcoming. We would absolutely consider and are planning our next holiday to Molokai and the beachfront estate we rented - again & again. Aloha & Mahalo, Jill & Rob North Vancouver, BC. - CDA.

Spirit of aloha

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED your house on Moloka’i! It is absolutely beautiful and perfect for what we wanted: peaceful, private, well-tended, clean and comfortable, glorious vistas, filled with aloha! A very sacred space like this is hard to leave, but we did go to the Friday afternoon ukulele fest at the Hotel Moloka’i. And we drove to Halawa Valley, so lush and beautiful, though we didn’t have time for the hike to the waterfall this trip. Next time! Also drove up to the Palaupapa Overlook. Gorgeous and such deep history. Still much to explore, but we had a great first taste of this beautiful island.

But mostly we just enjoyed sitting on the lanai and slowing down to Moloka'i time. We walked on the beach each morning, offering prayers of love and healing for the whole world. We watched as rainbows gradually arched across the sky and enjoyed the friendly green lizards with blue feet who came to greet us on the lanai. We watched for whales and photographed the palms dancing in sunlight. Never once did we turn on the TV, though we enjoyed playing Hawaiian music from my phone through the music system while we cooked in the well appointed kitchen. And thanks to the fringing reef a half mile from shore, the ocean sounds are soft and soothing, as if someone put them on a dimmer switch. Made it easy to sleep unlike many oceanfront homes. Thank you for making your home available to travelers like us. We are deeply grateful to be able to live in such a wonderful home when we are so far from our home. Every morning my husband looked at me with eyes aglow and said, “Thank you for finding this place. Thank you for bringing me here.” We’ll be back!

Dare I say it?

  • 5 of 5

Holy Moly--kai?! The views you see the moment you enter the house and look across the room out the sliding glass doors toward the ocean will knock your socks off (which is a good thing as the homeowners do ask that guests not wear shoes in the house). My primary concern with any rental home or condo I've stayed in is the cleanliness of the property and this one was perfect! The home is quite spacious and very well equipped with all the accoutrements that any one would need, in the kitchen and elsewhere. I do agree with the other reviewer who felt that it would be nice to have a television in both bedrooms--but what is truly amazing in the "guest" bedroom bath is the wall of windows looking directly out onto beautiful foliage that surrounds the house. And don't worry--the only ones looking in will be the birds in the trees that like to sit outside and sing to you! The grounds are immaculately maintained and the cottage is also surrounded by lovely foliage with the front oriented just slightly in a different direction (still maintaining an ocean view) but enough to create a feeling of total privacy for both properties. We would love to come for another stay and are already pursing that. The only thing on my wish list would be a few more and closer restaurants. One thing others might find helpful in the (hopefully) rare event that your mainland flight is delayed and you miss the last flight to Molokai on your arrival date is that there is a bank of phones in the luggage arrival area of the Honolulu airport that connect you directly to 3 airport hotels, that are less than a mile from the airport and all offer free shuttle service. The last thing, I think, anyone would want to do is end up at a Waikiki Beach Hotel when you're going to want to turn around and get back to the airport first thing the next morning and, needless to say, there are many aloha shirt wearing, smiling faced shuttle drivers from the beach hotels that would love to whisk you away! Another helpful, for us, thing that we learned during our surprise stay at the Honolulu Airport Hotel is that they have something called a "day stay" program for people with late flights out of Honolulu who have a day to kill and don't want to schlep around to the tourist attractions that they've likely already seen with all their luggage (turns out airports have done away with lockers and I did not trust the airline to not lose our luggage if we left it with them all day)--a nice alternative.

WOW

  • 5 of 5

The first words spoken upon opening the door to the beachfront house was WOW! The view from the back deck overlooking Maui is awesome and the whales put on quite a show for us during the week in February that we stayed here.

We were impressed with the heavy timber construction of the house, the hardwood floors and how well equipped it was. The house was clean, the grounds are well cared for and it is quite a peaceful location. There are 2 bedrooms; one with a shower and one with a whirlpool tub. There is also an outdoor shower with hot water which worked quite well. There is free WiFi and one TV but it is located in one of the bedrooms which means only 1 couple can watch TV. It would have been much better to have the TV located in the living area of the house so all guests could use the TV. There is a washer and dryer outside beside the house in a shed which worked well. There are outside loungers for use on the lawn, and the beach in front of the house (although public) was quite private.

We drove around Molokai in all directions and we all agreed that we lucked out in renting this property and would highly recommend it.

Peace and Quiet Surrounded by Nature

  • 5 of 5

This was our third year in a row staying here - the first two in the cottage, and the most recent visit in the house. We obviously love it here! The property is beautiful and secluded. Both rentals are well maintained and in great shape. Come here to decompress, unwind, chill out. Wake up to the sound of the ocean, the birds in the jungle, and the wind in the palm trees as the sun rises behind Maui. Watch geckos, cloud formations and the changing light over the Pailolo Channel. The end of the road in Halawa Valley is 30 minutes in one direction; the main town of Kaunakakai 30 minutes in the other.

If you're looking to escape the tourist hordes on the other islands, come to Molokai! This really is the Hawaii of 50 years ago. It's more of a cultural experience than the typical tourist experience you'll find in other parts of the islands. If you like to get off the beaten path and experience something unique, this place is for you.

A relaxing, peaceful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for peace and solitude-this is the place to stay!! We rented the house from Jan 25th to Feb 7th. We absolutely loved our stay here! We stayed alone in the house, but it is large enough for two couples to have plenty of room.

The home has 2 lg bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. There is a tub in one and a shower in the other, but we used neither. The outdoor shower is divine! A must use while you stay. There is nothing like showering outside under the palms with a view of the ocean-still missing it!

The kitchen comes equipped with everything you need. There is a good selection of pots, pans and dishes. There is a barbque outside, off the lanai for use. We cooked some wonderful meals and very much enjoyed the view of the ocean right out the window while we were prepping. We purchased spices and oil at the local store, but did find that there was quite a selection left from previous renters.

The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed having access to a washer and dryer as well and did do a load or two of laundry.

We had some rainy weather while we were there and the solar hot water held out well. We were never lacking for hot water.

Jill, the caretaker, was friendly and helpful. She was a great resource for things to do and places to get great produce (Kumu farms).

We made a lot of use of the ocean kayaks, taking a daily row out and about to check things out. The water is so clear that you can easily see the coral and fish below. We surprised a turtle once when we literally rowed over top of it and it scared us when it took off right from under us-so cool!

A few different couples stayed in the cottage and except for the occasional hellos that we exchanged when we saw each other in the yard, the area is large enough and secluded enough that we didn't feel like we were invading space.

There is wi-fi available and we did use of it. It worked quite well, only having issues when it rained heavily one night and the whole island had trouble connecting. There is a TV in the one room, but we didn't use it much. We watched whales from the lanai and enjoyed watching the changing times of day.

The property is set off the road a bit. This helped it to feel more secluded as there is only one road at that end of the island and everyone travels it. If you are close to the road, you would definitely hear the traffic.

I highly recommend this property. The owners were very easy to contact and deal with.

A piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough great things about this rental house. What a piece of paradise. We will definitely go back. We had everything we needed for a relaxing, tranquil, and yet exciting stay on Molokai. We drank coffee on the lanai every morning while watching the whales breach in the ocean. What a treat! The house was well furnished, beautiful grounds and beach. Cant say enough good things about it!!
