An uncommonly stylish and incredibly private modern beach house, with spectacular panoramic views of Long Island Sound and the gentle curve of the coastline. Secluded and surrounded by protected sand dunes but NO houses west along the beach – as far as the eye can see – this century-old, handsomely renovated house features massive picture windows framing Long Island Sound, a two-level deck, and BBQ/fire pit. A private 50-yard path leads directly from the fire pit to a serene private stretch of beach. Enjoy stunning sunsets, walks along the beach and outdoor dining and relaxation -- or just gaze out the huge windows at the Sound. On cool evenings, enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace or make an outdoor fire and roast marshmallows.
The light and airy interior features contemporary and vintage mid-century furnishings, gourmet kitchen, large windows on all sides, sleek hardwood floors, fireplace, high cathedral ceilings and original art throughout.
Tucked away at the end of a private country lane, in a friendly beach community, the cottage is ideal for couples and small families. It's perfect for long walks on the beach; swimming in the Sound; outdoor dining, cocktails and sunning on the decks; easy biking; golf; and excursions just minutes away to the North Fork’s famed wineries, farm stands, and seafood restaurants.
Dog-friendly (one well-trained dog preferred), but not available for weddings, parties, proms or group shares.

My wife and I fell in love with the North Fork on our first visit in 2006 and immediately began looking for a vacation home. We love the laid-back, bucolic, anti-Hamptons feel of the area, the friendliness of the people, and the burgeoning food-and-wine scene.
Neil purchased this House in 2007
Why Neil chose Peconic
This small waterfront house had something we never dreamed we could have: incredible privacy and unending water views, with an essentially private beach.
What makes this House unique
You are unlikely to find a house as private as this, with no houses to the west. The views of the beach and Sound are all yours. Hemmed in by the bluff and protected sand dunes, it is far removed from the summer hubbub of Goldsmiths Inlet and the public parking lot at the other end of Sound Avenue.

Amazing location and perfectly spaced house
This was truly one of the nicest locations we've visited. The house is perfect for a family or couples. I almost don't want to spread the word and keep this a secret for myself but that wouldn't be fair to Neil. Speaking of which, Neil was attentive and helpful throughout the rental process. Beyond the house, the North Fork offered something for everyone in my family from great restaurants and nature walks to the Greenport Carousel for the kids. If wineries are what you're looking for this location is at the epicenter for all the best. We visited in the offseason (November) and had a great time. I can only imagine having access to this house in the heart of Summer. Thank you to Neil and the people of the North Fork!!
Many thanks! You are welcome anytime!
The most noise that we heard was the soft lapping of the Long Island Sound against the pebble beach, a short walk on a private, sandy path from the house. We watched the sun slowly set into the water from inside the large, open windows overlooking the sound. The house has everything you will need. It is close to everything on the North Fork. We will be back for sure.
Sound-front stylish retreat
Our adult family loved staying at the Sand Dunes cottage. The home is meticulously clean (even for someone as obsessive about cleaning as I am) and welcoming. Just a few of the highlights: high and open ceilings, huge windows to take in the beautiful sound and dune views, private, light and bright, high-end touches (think Pottery Barn dinnerware/glassware/linens/etc.), stylish furniture, and great art throughout. This is not your typical vacation rental, and really feels like you are staying in a friend’s home. Neil is flexible, friendly, and very responsive. Thank you Neil!
Perfect North Fork House
Incredible views, very comfortable, thoughtfully designed, modern kitchen, perfect location being central to North Fork towns. Neil was easy to communicate with and provided helpful recommendations and clear instructions for checking in/out and using the house. This was one of our favorite Homeaway experiences and we'd love to return.
Perfect beach getaway -quiet and serene. The home is lovely and cozy.
Wonderful spot and house.
Delightful stay. Beautiful location. Neil was super easy to work with.

Private beach with access from private path. Goldsmiths Inlet (wading/swimming/recreation area). Biking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, nearby public golf & tennis. Long Island's finest wineries with daily wine tastings. Local farm stands for fresh produce and pies.
