About Lori Nicolson

Lori Nicolson. We live in the Sacramento area and love to getaway to this beautiful location any chance we can. We own this property with my brother and sister in law, Rick and Cindy Coates. This is our family retreat which holds many memories that we truly cherish.

Lori Nicolson purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Lori Nicolson chose Gold Country / High Sierra

Beautiful, tasteful and cozy home

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the cabin. It was exactly were we were looking for. The space is at once cozy and spacious; warm; and beautifully decorated. The river out back felt like such a luxury. The place had everything we needed and the instructions & communication with the owners was seamless. Highly recommended!

One thing to note: there was no cell phone reception or internet in the house, which is made clear in the listing (so no fault there), but I advise travelers in the winter to identify nearby spots where you can get reception and check traffic information regularly. During the winter months there can be road closures and detours that can delay trips home by many hours, as happened with us, and had we been able to check traffic info we wouldn't have driven an hour only to be turned around at a road closure and stuck in a traffic jam going back the way we came. This isn't a critique of the house, to be clear, just a friendly warning so others don't go through what we did!

A Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

This home is a 5 Star plus experience. Beautiful location, right on the Carson River and an absolutely incredible home with everything and then some provided. The towels and bedding were high quality and there was an amazing attention to detail throughout the home. A very comfortable living room and a massive and effective fireplace were big hits. The host was very responsive and answered all questions promptly. This is a place I would certainly return to and I would love to experience the home in summer with the beautiful wrap around deck right on the river. PERFECT

Wonderful, except no washcloths at all

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time, the cabin was well equipped, clean and very comfortable! Neighbors were also wonderful, very understanding about limited parking. Our only complaint was that there wasn't a washcloth to

be found! Wish I'd known, we would've brought our own. Otherwise, we were very pleased.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your recent reservation. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at our property. Our sincere apologies for no washcloths. We have multiple towels and should have wash cloths on site. Sometimes they just disappear :( Thank you for your feedback and we will make sure to increase our towel inventory. All our best, The Nicolson and Coates Family

Beautiful home in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Both the home and the natural setting are beautiful!

Having the Carson River as the backyard is a real treat. I don't think I've ever been more relaxed than hanging out with your feet in the cool stream, looking at the mountainside, and hearing nothing but the noise of the river- a perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Great location- near lots of hiking, and Sorenson's and the Hope Valley café if you want a snack.

The house itself was very comfortable and in great condition. The kitchen has everything you would nee, and it's great that there is a grill for use too. Nice dining set-up outside. It's great for a family or a group of friends.

The owner Lori was friendly and helpful in answering my questions.

Beautiful house and setting - Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed at this home this past weekend and it was perfect for our two families of four (four adults and four children). There is plenty of space and the house is very well equipped and comfortable. Our kids really enjoyed wading and playing in the Carson River, which is just steps away. At night, we opened a window and just listened to the beautiful sound of the river flowing by. We truly enjoyed are stay all around, and I would gladly and highly recommend this rental property to anyone!
