Wonderful, except no washcloths at all

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time, the cabin was well equipped, clean and very comfortable! Neighbors were also wonderful, very understanding about limited parking. Our only complaint was that there wasn't a washcloth to

be found! Wish I'd known, we would've brought our own. Otherwise, we were very pleased.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your recent reservation. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at our property. Our sincere apologies for no washcloths. We have multiple towels and should have wash cloths on site. Sometimes they just disappear :( Thank you for your feedback and we will make sure to increase our towel inventory. All our best, The Nicolson and Coates Family

Beautiful home in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Both the home and the natural setting are beautiful!

Having the Carson River as the backyard is a real treat. I don't think I've ever been more relaxed than hanging out with your feet in the cool stream, looking at the mountainside, and hearing nothing but the noise of the river- a perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Great location- near lots of hiking, and Sorenson's and the Hope Valley café if you want a snack.

The house itself was very comfortable and in great condition. The kitchen has everything you would nee, and it's great that there is a grill for use too. Nice dining set-up outside. It's great for a family or a group of friends.

The owner Lori was friendly and helpful in answering my questions.

Beautiful house and setting - Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed at this home this past weekend and it was perfect for our two families of four (four adults and four children). There is plenty of space and the house is very well equipped and comfortable. Our kids really enjoyed wading and playing in the Carson River, which is just steps away. At night, we opened a window and just listened to the beautiful sound of the river flowing by. We truly enjoyed are stay all around, and I would gladly and highly recommend this rental property to anyone!

Cute Mountain Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very nicely decorated and maintained. The nearby bridge is ideal for fishing and the area is filled with mountain activities. We were very comfortable and would happily return!

great house, beautifully equipped, in very very scenic Hope Valley

  • 5 of 5

4 college friends re-united for a week of hiking, lake swimming, cycling, and running, and this home totally fit the bill. We are a group of women who have backpacked together, but now prefer a hot shower, good movie viewing, well-equipped kitchen, and lovely cabin for a week in the woods. This cabin satisfied all of our needs. It is close to hwy 88 but the Carson River (right beyond the deck) provides a buffer from noise and blocks any view of the road. Being close to the highway means you can pedal right outside your door on beautiful (brand new!) asphalt up Carson or Luther Pass or any of the other Death Ride routes, as well as down the beautiful road to scenic Blue Lakes (great swimming, fishing and hiking). There are also good running trails very nearby, and the Carson River is reported to have very good fishing (we didn't fish but saw people fishing every day). Hiking is superb.

This whole valley is GORGEOUS and not nearly as busy crowded as Tahoe, yet South Lake Tahoe is only a short hop north over Luther Pass on Hwy 89, and Markleeville / Grover Hot Springs are just east. Kirkwood is about 14 miles up/over Carson Pass, where the PCT crosses the road.

The house has 3 beautiful bedrooms with really really lovely linens (impressed this group of discerning women!), 2 big bathrooms (and once again, the decorating is fantastic), and great open space for the kitchen, living room and dining area. The deck is right above the bank of the river, and has warm morning sun and good places for dining alfresco or cocktails on the deck. They even have a tiki bar :)

The furnishings and kitchenware are MUCH better than most rentals and we were impressed with the quality and assortment of cookware and glassware.

We knew going into this area that cell service/wifi is spotty, at best, but that isn't the fault of the owner, and it is nice to disconnect every now and then. There is some service at the nearby Hope Valley Cafe and Bakery - good excuse to go and buy some PIES (everything is home made there, and the place is authentically cool).

This cabin could easily accommodate 3 couples comfortably, each in their own bedroom. The pull out sofa upstairs was reported to be uncomfortable by one in our party, but she was more comfortable on the nice wide couch in the living room. I'm sure that kids would be fine on the sofa bed. I would pack a down pillow next time, but that is just me and my fussy neck.

Strongly recommended!
