Overview

Northern Michigan Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bdrms,, 1 Bath.

Welcome to Logjam on the Pine. We are located on the Pine River, one of Michigan's premiere trout streams. The cottage is between Luther and LeRoy Michigan and just a short 23 miles south of Cadillac. Upriver from the busy canoe liveries and campgrounds we offer a truly unique fishing experience. With its swift currents and deep runs, plus its vast population of wild brook and brown trout, as well as the states largest population of nonmigratory rainbow, this remote stretch of the Pine will challenge even hardcore trout enthusiasts.

Three miles north of the cottage lays the gateway to the Manistee National Forest with its 533,000 acre expanse. The forest offers countless activities for the ourdoorsman, from its abundance of small and large game, to its miles of ORV and snowmobile trails.

The Logjam is owned and hosted by Lori and Jerry Horan. Jerry is a nationally recognized artist who specializes in watercolor originals and driftwood carvings. Limited edition prints are also available at the onsite art studio.

An avid fisherman in his own right, Jerry holds Logjam's record for the largest trout - a 24 1/2 inch brown.

Rental of this property affords you a private 1 acre stretch of the Pine River for fishing, swimming and tubing. On the site is a picnic table and stocked fire pit for stream side cook-out.

Once settled in, a short 6 mi. drive to the Bristol Store will keep you supplied with everything from night crawlers to hand dipped ice cream. Please consider the Logjam for your next family getaway. Check in time 3:00 P Check out time 11:00 A

About Jerry or Lori

I am a wildlife artist and work in watercolor. I also carve driftwood from the logjams of the Pine River. Lori is a retired local school teacher.

Jerry or Lori purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Jerry or Lori chose Northern Michigan

I have grown up on the Pine River and enjoy all it has to offer. When Lori and I found this spot we both fell in love with it. Come spend a weekend with us and you'll understand.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Jerry and Lori -- thanks for sharing your wonderful Logjam. Sorry we left a few minutes late. Hope you found that we cleaned up after ourselves. Hopefully, we will see you again.

nice cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin accommodated our two families - we had 3 kids aged 5, 7, and 10 and it fitted all of us comfortably. The cabin is well maintained and clean and has several items hand-made by the owner which were beautiful. The cabin has 1 small bathroom but we managed well. We enjoyed our stay and the kids loved playing with the pup, Lily. The Pine River is across the road from the cabin where there is a picnic table and a fire pit. The owners, Jerri and Lori were very nice and provided us coal for the fire and tubes for the kids as well as some games the kids could play outside. We enjoyed rafting and tubing on the Pine river - rentals are not too far away. Overall a good spot for a fun vacation.

very cute cabin0

  • 5 of 5

What a cute cabin in the woods. Not big but we had enough room for the 6 of us without using the overflow cabin. Liked the cabin-feel decorating. Wish we had time for kayaking on the river -looked like a good river for that. Lori & Jerry were very easy to work with.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

This place exceeded all our expectations! Plenty of room for our group of 3 couples. Cabin is very clean and well stocked. Jerry and Lori made sure we wanted for nothing. Firewood was always available for the fire pit, plenty of chairs, and even charcoal for the Weber grill! Seriously awesome spot if you are looking for a very quiet, relaxing place to unwind. The fire pit is very private and is located right on the river. Dont forget your flashlight when at bonfire, very dark walk back! We went rafting on the Pine which is always a fun trip! Don't forget to check out Jerry's driftwood carvings and paintings while there. Truly amazing. We will definately be back!

Located 5 miles from the trail head, ride from the door to the trail. The cabin was clean an comfortable, with

the up north feel. Jerry & Lori have a real cool cabin & made us feel welcome. I will be staying at the logjam when I snowmobile the Cadillac area.

Home for the Winter

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we pulled into the driveway, I knew this would be the place where my daughter and I would start our new lives in Michigan. We set in for the Winter and ended up staying long into the next summer. I made this beautiful cabin in the woods our temporary home. My daughter loved the snow. We went snow shoeing, had snow ball fights and tried out the nearby hills for sled riding. When Spring came we were able to enjoy the breathtaking Pine River. We cooled off in the clear water, skipped rocks and went tubing. We weren't very good at fishing but it was a wonderful place to learn about the river's history and Trout. It began as a short term winter vacation but we loved it so much we didn't want to leave. The owners are wonderful people. Gracious and kind. I consider them part of my family now. Everything we needed was at our disposal. If you are looking for a place to vacation, a short getaway or even some place to stay for a season, this is the place. We loved it so much we purchased a home nearby. I still visit the owners often. They will make you feel like family. You will leave here feeling rested, revitalized and renewed. Try it once and I promise, you will come back.

Family canoe weekend.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Logjam with my adult children, their significant others and my very large standard poodle. We fit nicely in the bedrooms/sleeping porch. The cabin is rustic, but is chock full of entertaining artwork, games and books. We learned new games and as we all are readers, scrambled up the bookshelves. The kitchen has most necessary equipment, but is short on storage space. We ended up using the top of the frig. for a pantry. Same goes for the bathroom. Six people and wet towels were a challenge to manage, but there were plenty of clean towels. The cabin is on property that spans two sides of the road, but is not directly on the riverbank. There is a path across the road that goes to the firepit with chairs and a picnic table on the riverbank. There are several other buildings on the property. Owners were accessible and helpful. They made a trip to purchase more paper towels and charcoal for us. We only visited the river landings and enjoyed our evenings together in the cabin. The property is somewhat secluded and very peaceful.
