My wife, Colleen, and I met on Whidbey Island many years ago. We have lived in different parts of the country over the years, but always called Whidbey, home.
We live a few miles from The Hideaway, but will never 'bother' you while your are enjoying your stay. If you need something, anything, we are just a phone call away!
Mark and Colleen purchased this house in 1994
The South West side of Whidbey Island is very charming, beautiful, rural, and not that far from Seattle. There is a strong community presence and quite a strong artistic pulse, which we thoroughly enjoy. We chose our location 'up' from the water, because being right on the water can be windy and cold, even in the summer! We also enjoy the privacy, and that's hard to find living on the waterfront. Too many other houses!
We have a very loyal and large base of people who have used our place over the past 20 years. They tell us it's like a second home to them. We have tried to make all our guests feel that way. Because it is on an acre of land it also offers an abundance of privacy, vegatation and wildlife (Deer, eagles, pheasant, rabbits, etc) along with a great water and mountain view. Our birdfeeders bring in all kinds of interesting birds.
We celebrated my husband's first Fathers day here - what a perfect spot! Farmer's Markets, bike rides, a walk on the beach and beautiful views . . . can't wait to return!!!
My husband and I took our first trip to the Pacific NW and after spending a couple days in Seattle, proceeded out to Whidbey Island for a long 3 day weekend at Mark and Colleen's Bush Point Hideaway. What a wonderful location! The views across the water are visible from inside the house through 2 large picture windows and also from the front porch where we often sat and relaxed. Even in what could be called the "off-season" we found it a beautiful place to be. The hot tub, also located on the large deck, was relaxing in the cool evening and everything that we could have wanted was clean, organized and available in the home. Beds and other furniture were very comfortable, cooking pots, pans, utensils etc. came in handy when we chose to cook and stay in one evening. The home provided a wonderful place for us to simply relax and unwind from normally hectic lives. Like other reviewers have noted, we found ourselves waking early to watch the sunrise and loved to hear the numerous birds chirping outside. We even had a few deer wander by to complete the tranquil experience. We have stayed at numerous VRBO properties in the past, and this one certainly did not disappoint. We are already talking about when we may be able to return some time in the future! Thanks go out to our great hosts, Mark and Colleen.
Mark and Coleen the owners, could not have been more helpful. We rented the cottage from the UK and they made us welcome well before we arrived. The cottage is lovely... A true home from home. The little touches made us feel so at home, from the personal belongings and art to the high speed internet and great hot tub. The beds... We have spent a small fortune at home but I can't remember when I've had a better, more comfortable nights sleep. The views across the water are world class. I don't often get up before dawn but the view of the sunrise across the water made me do that everyday. The cottage is located in a lovely neighbourhood and is a short walk to the shore. We've rented through VRBO all over North America and this home is one of the most memorable. Thanks so much Mark and Coleen.
Such a wonderful, peaceful place to get away! We loved the deck with the amazing view, especially from the hot tub or the hammock. We had a wonderful stay here.
Wonderful, relaxing, perfect nearby get away. Love, love the cabin. Welcoming, peaceful, views are great. Have visited with my cocker spaniel for a few years now and am never disappointed. Mark and Colleen do it right! Highly recommend.
I have been coming to this property for years. It is simply amazing and the owners are super nice. The view is incredible, we love the deck and spend most of our time out there enjoying the view! It is well stocked and super comfy beds. Great getaway! Enjoy!
I have been visiting this home for years with my dogs. The property is well maintained, cozy, and has everything you need for an enjoyable weekend that is both away from it all and also connected to all of the conveniences of home. Mark and Colleen are thoughtful hosts that make sure you have all of the information you need to have an enjoyable stay, and they also trust you to treat their home like their own, which I very much appreciate. Although the property is popular and often booked, I always find that it is spotless when we arrive. We love relaxing on the comfortable deck, in the hot tub, and taking in the sunset from the large living room windows in the evenings. The island is also full of places to explore, and the cabin is a short drive from a number of my favorites - Greenbank Farm, South Whidbey State Park, Meerkerk Gardens, Double Bluff Beach (all dog friendly!). We will most certainly be back soon.
