Welcome to Cay House! Eleuthera means freedom, and freedom doesn’t get much better than this: a spacious and beautiful waterfront home on a private silky sand beach with calm, shallow, turquoise water and a view from the front deck you have to see to believe. Seemingly afloat in the shallow, clear water, a small island named Gaulding Cay awaits your exploration and provides a great view, especially as the sun sinks into the sea at sunset.
Gaulding Cay Beach is an isolated beach with glistening white sand, surrounded by fragrant pines. The snorkeling is great, and its privacy lends a special enjoyment to swimming, boating, reading in the hammock, and sunbathing.
This newly-constructed (2009) five-bedroom house has a 50-foot deck overlooking the sea and white beaches. The spacious deck is furnished with lounge chairs for sunning and tables with umbrellas for dining.
Inside the house, the 1400 s.f. great room (including living area, dining area and kitchen) has soaring ceilings and a view of Gaulding Cay and Gaulding Cay Beach through a wall of French doors and tall windows. This open, elegant space greets you with a comfortable living area with a U-shaped couch, entertainment center with flat-screen satellite TV, and a view of the sea that never quits.
The dining area, also with views of the sea, comfortably seats 10 at the wooden table and is adjacent to a raised stone countertop with three bar stools for additional seating.
The kitchen features stunning stone counter tops, plenty of cabinet space, and all the modern amenities. Stainless steel appliances include a 5-burner gas cooktop, a wall oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and deep country sink, to facilitate the needs of guests, chefs and staff. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the accoutrements needed to prepare your culinary delights including blender, toaster, coffee-maker, crock pot, and a selection of spices and seasonings.
Just outside the kitchen area is a charcoal cooking grill for your barbecue and grilling selections. The laundry room with washer and dryer is conveniently located adjacent to the kitchen.
The four airy bedrooms (and a lovely den that can readily serve as a fifth bedroom) are perfect for two families or five couples. The two matching master bedroom suites have beach and ocean views. Lie in bed in the morning and watch the sun sparkle on the sea, or view the stars at night from your bed. French doors open to the front deck overlooking the beach and Gaulding Cay. Wander outside for a morning cup of tea or an early swim. Step out at night and stare in awe at more stars than you have ever seen. The two master bedrooms have spacious en-suite baths. The stone-tiled bathrooms are equipped with large glass showers, pedestal sinks, and wardrobes for your clothing storage.
The two guest bedrooms have French doors opening onto private decks with ocean views. These two bedrooms share a central bathroom similar to the master baths. The beds are twins that can be converted to kings; just let us know and we’ll have them ready for you.
The fifth bedroom is a den with views of the sea and wonderful breezes blowing through the room. It is furnished with twin beds that can be converted to a king. Then den has a curtain over the doorway rather than a door.
Amenities at the Cay House include WIFI, flat-screen satellite TV, air conditioning, ceiling fans, beach chairs, beach towels, and a two sea kayaks.
We also rent boats on the island, and have a good selection of boats for you to choose from, including sailboats, power boats, and canoes. Just let us know what you need and we’ll give you a price. The sea in front of the Cay House is typically calm and ideal for boating.
The Cay House is located just two miles from the picturesque fishing village of Gregory Town. Gregory Town is home to the best gift shop on the island, featuring handmade art and crafts from around the Bahamas. Gregory Town is also the home of Thompson’s bakery, famous for its pineapple tarts and coconut tarts mad

A wonderful family vacation house
The property manager was more than helpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was very happy with the location.
I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
I was traveling with my partner and 3 grown children with their partners. The house was set up well with a center large great room and then four bedrooms on each corner (so quite private). The two bedrooms towards the back shared a bath, but also had private balconies facing the woods. The beach is very close and only shared with a few cottages along the way. The beach is public, but was only used a few times by others. We enjoyed kayaking around the bay in the provided kayaks. We had a couple of problems but were able to reach the person who we rented from and from there it was attended to. My only suggestion was there were a few broken items that needed to be replaced, I understand that happens but there wasn't anyone to review that with. A folder with directions about the house would be very helpful for others.
Blissful and quiet....
We had plenty to explore around the island and great restaurants! But we were also completely content to be at the Cay house and relax on our own perfect beach. It is a great place to stay!
The Cay House was perfect
We couldn't be happier with our experience at the Cay House, from start to finish. The booking and organizing was easy and seamless. Sorting out timing for our trip had a few moving parts and Matthew and the owners were very helpful with allowing for some flexibility while working through that. The house is everything it advertises. Our two young girls were in heaven with the beach at the door, the shallow, inviting water, and a world of exploring for a backyard. We had the beach to ourselves everyday but one. The owner Jackie couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, we very much appreciated the loan of a camera, and recommendations for places and things to visit, and any questions were replied to almost immediately. We had a wonderful time, and are trying to workout timing to return next year. Thank you very much for everything,
Lovely property with stunning beach views
Our third time to Eleuthera was wonderful at the Cay House. Lovely spacious house with nice common spaces and great deck to relax and have meals/drinks. We prefer the Caribbean side of the island particularly in the winter months. I find the Atlantic side too windy although some may prefer it. The color of the water in unreal. The beach is great particularly for little ones. The stove did not turn on because the tank had run out. It was promptly replaced. The owners and property management company is vey responsive. We had a few meals st Daddy Joes. One meal at the Cove and drinks/lunch at a new bar overlooking the glass window bridge. Lighthouse beach is stunning but a long drive. Tippys was great. We explored the N end of the island including Ben bay and Tay bay. N Eleuthera airport is close/convenient. Overall very pleased with our stay. The best part are the beautiful views from the front bedrooms and the living areas.
Great house on a perfect beach
First off this house is perfectly located on a stunning beach and not far from many great adventures (glass window bridge, baths, surfer's beach and many other attractions in north Eleuthera. I have been renting on Eleuthera for the last 5 years and this house as been the best so far in terms of location and care of the house. The owners were some of the best owners I have dealt with in Eleuthera and they strive to make everything perfect. Also, if you are renting a home in Eleuthera, do yourself a favor and use Matt Simon. He was a lifesavor for my family as we had an issue with a prior property and got us into the Cay house within a matter of a hour. Again, Skip and Jackie, who own the Cay House, were awesome as well and we appreciate all they did for us. We are looking to rent the Cay House next year as well.
We would do it again
This beach and house suited us perfectly. We are amateur snorkelers (bring your gear) and we have young children and we like some seclusion. I gave it a 4 star because there were a couple things that we felt weren't taken care of. The satellite didn't work until 5th evening of our stay. DVD player didn't work. This was only important in the evenings when Mosquitos forced us inside. A bathroom light was out leaving only one lamp working. Our request for a spare bulb was ignored. We would not let this deter us, but if you're particular, this may not be your place. We loved the layout of the house and loved nearby Daddy Joes restaurant. Drove to Governers Harbor a couple times and ferried to Spanish Wells twice. Loved this vacation!
Sailing, snorkeling, diving and fishing can't be beat! Lying on the perfect silky sand, watch the sunset over Gaulding Cay. Privacy, tourquoise water, great for a family, friends or honeymoons.
