About Maritza Budet and John Winkler

My husband John and I both enjoyed busy careers for over thirty years in New York City.. John, good with all things mechanical worked both with his hands and in management in the electrical industry. I have always enjoyed understanding people ,art and nature. The Human Resources profession was my passion working with people and extraordinary companies in Fashion, Fine Jewelry, and Art. Together we enjoy making people happy..so here we are, hoping to meet interesting people and doing everything we can to help our guests enjoy their time in our home.

Maritza Budet and John Winkler purchased this apartment in 2004

Why Maritza Budet and John Winkler chose Greenport

John and I chose Greenport Village because of my love of antiques and wonderful 'unspoiled' older homes, while enjoying an innocent and simple quality of life in the Village. John's love of all things in or near the water.. boating, fishing, swimming... fresh seafood....The Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay made it a simple choice with countless activities to enjoy.

Divine in every aspect

  • 5 of 5

I read all the rave reviews but have to add my own. John and Maritza are the most gracious hosts who before arriving make you feel at home and their warmth and generosity is a constant of one's visit. They think of everything and nothing is an imposition. You are guests in their home !

The house is charming and comfortable and has everything you need. It is spacious (2 living rooms !) so it works well for 2 couples. We were 3 adults and it was great. We chose to cook many of our meals and it worked out well as the kitchen is attractive and well equipped . John helped us use his grill one night and we had a fabulous steak.

The location is perfect. A sweet neighborhood that is very close to a very pleasant beach and a 10-15 minute walk to town with all its delicious restaurants. We had some fabulous meals and enjoyed a few movies as well. Greenport is a very appealing town with a friendly, low key vibe and is surrounded by beautiful farm land and gorgeous vineyards and beaches. Staying with Maritza and John is the perfect base. you are in a charming home with kind people who will give you great advice and are willing to help you if you need it with such grace and patience . It was a

real pleasure to be in their home and to get to know them !

Our favorite vacation place

  • 5 of 5

This is the fifth year in a row that we've come to Greenport for a week during the summer, and stayed with Maritza and John. One week is always better than the last. At this point it's like coming home. The house is situated within 20 minutes from town and 5 minutes from the beach and the playground; it couldn't be an easier vacation. The place has everything you need. Maritza and John have thought about everything and have it right there. There isn't a lot of extra buying of napkins or laundry detergent etc and it's so comfortable and adorable. We love to hang out in the backyard, everyone on the street is so nice and town is just great. It's an easy walk from the bus or the train as well but they always offer to come and pick us up. Great hosts great place.

Wonderful apartment, perfect location. We stayed here with two small kids. Space was much larger than photos. Steps from beach with playground, short walk into town. Could not be happier.

Lovely cozy home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

I visited with a girlfriend and we loved the home. Everything anyone could need was provided. Beach right down the road and home close to the ferry to Shelter Island and the Hamptons. The two living areas was a nice plus. Great central location to enjoy North Fork. Only negative might be that the shower is small. Vrbo's high service fee added to rental seems unnecessary. It should be optional instead of automatically added. Added $40 a night to the rental cost shown when booking. I would highly recommend overall.
