My husband John and I both enjoyed busy careers for over thirty years in New York City.. John, good with all things mechanical worked both with his hands and in management in the electrical industry. I have always enjoyed understanding people ,art and nature. The Human Resources profession was my passion working with people and extraordinary companies in Fashion, Fine Jewelry, and Art. Together we enjoy making people happy..so here we are, hoping to meet interesting people and doing everything we can to help our guests enjoy their time in our home.
Maritza Budet and John Winkler purchased this apartment in 2004
John and I chose Greenport Village because of my love of antiques and wonderful 'unspoiled' older homes, while enjoying an innocent and simple quality of life in the Village. John's love of all things in or near the water.. boating, fishing, swimming... fresh seafood....The Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay made it a simple choice with countless activities to enjoy.

We spent a lovely weekend at this home. Loved the nearby restaurants, the quick walk to the beach, and of course the property itself. It was a beautifully restored place, very roomy,, and the pictures don't do it justice. The location is peaceful and charming. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would definitely return.
This awesome vacation rental has definitely spoiled us - we never want to stay anywhere else when in Greenport! The second floor suite is comfortably and tastefully furnished and decorated (we've even borrowed a few ideas....). The owners have thought of EVERYTHING - from the comfy bedding to the vegetable peeler and right down to the Scrabble board game! We never watched the TV, but instead enjoyed reading the books of local interest each evening. The rental was spotless when we arrived and everything was in excellent working condition. We also love the location - a short walk to 5th Street Beach with the stunning view of Shelter Island, and an easy stroll into downtown Greenport for shopping, dining or enjoying the concerts in the park. And did I mention the owners?!?! Maritza and John are the best! They do what it takes to make sure your stay is everything you want, and are simply 2 awesome people who we now consider our dear friends. We were born and raised in Greenport and it's a pleasure to come back and visit and see the care they have taken in restoring this home - it's a gem! We definitely do recommend this property to friends - just as long as it's not when we want to stay here :)
John and Maritza thought of everything! The house is lovely, comfortable, spacious, clean, and just steps from the beach. And the hosts were gracious and welcoming. I'd go back again!
This rental was perfect in every way! The pictures of the rooms don't do it justice. The neighborhood is lovely. The rooms are all updated, clean and fresh. The flat has charm and PLENTY of room for 4 people. There are two bedrooms - each with a sitting room attached. There is also a nice sized, fully equipped kitchen with an eat-in dining area. Our family of 4 had breakfast there every morning and were very comfortable. The bathroom is updated, and fresh. The home is divided into two flats. The rental is on the second floor. Very private. I think it was about 1 1/2 blocks walking to the sweetest little beach with a small pier. Beautiful! Also walking distance to town where there are plenty of fun little shops. The North Ferry Company runs a small ferry from town out to Shelter Island (about 10 minutes) where we then got a delicious lunch from Marie Eiffel Market. We had several delicious meals at local restaurants (1943 Pizza Bar and Lucharito's). We flew from California, rented a car at Newark and drove straight out. There are lots of pie/fruit stands along the way. We stopped at Briermere Farms for a strawberry pie and Love Lane Kitchen for dinner. We were only there for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks to John and Maritza for your hospitality! It was a great start to our New York vacation!!
We use VRBO quite a bit, and I must say that this was one of the best rentals and experiences we have had. The location was perfect, and the apartment was even nicer than the pictures shown here. On top of that, John and Maritza were so warm and welcoming, it was as if we were staying at a friend's home. While the apartment was close to the shops and restaurants of Greenport, it was also extremely quiet, and we slept very well in this comfortable home. We hope to come back for another visit to this beautiful area and would rent this again in a heartbeat. Thanks!
my friend and i rented the space for a weekend getaway. it was peaceful and the space was beautifully decorated and large. we had a wonderful time relaxing and exploring the area. the water is beautiful and there's a great playground down the street. easy walk to the town center. hoping to return during the season when it's warmer and there's more to do in the area. would be a great family/couples/friends getaway as well. the owners were easy to reach and helpful/responsive with our questions. great porch in the front to hang out on.
Greenport Village is a historic harbor front village with lovely restored homes, antique shops, art galleries, book shops, waterfront dining, antique carousel and more. The North Fork is also know as wine country with over thirty vineyards. Fresh farm stands are within a few miles to enjoy local fresh produce. Harvest season is also very popular for pumpkin picking and local events.
