This 2300 square foot rustic retreat is located across the river from Glacier National Park, in West Glacier, Montana. The home features an eight-person hot tub on the back deck, which is 20 feet from the river's edge, and a large front deck.
There are 5 sleeping areas: 4 bedrooms (2 w/ queen, one with 2 twins, TV rm with double foldout) + single foldout in mezzanine, 2 ½-baths.
Our vacation home is located in West Glacier, Montana — one mile from the west entrance to Glacier National Park. It fronts directly on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River at the confluence with McDonald creek.
Across the street is the 18 hole Glacier View Golf Course, and across the river is Glacier National Park. The location at the dead end of River Bend Drive affords much privacy. It is common to see deer, elk, moose, beavers, bears, wolf, eagles, osprey and all sorts of wild fowl.
As the river level lowers, fly-fishing is excellent from the gravel bar just outside your back door.
We have furnished the cabin with comfortable Arts & Crafts-era antiques, and the walls are adorned with wonderful, western artwork. The home is equipped with Satellite television with a DVD player, CD player, wireless Internet.
The Village of West Glacier is at the entrance to Glacier Park. The famous “Going to the Sun” road starts in West Glacier and goes all the way across the Park, offering countless opportunities for access to the Park interior.
West Glacier features 4 raft companies who offer exciting rafting, fishing and hiking trips. For dining out, there are several options to choose from. A grocery store, saloon (this is Montana after all), gift shops, post office and gas stations complete the amenities available.
Apgar Village is just inside the Park on Lake McDonald and offers lake access (boat rentals), a restaurant, and gift stores. The Lake McDonald Lodge is ten miles away and offers a fine restaurant, lake tours, and “Jammer” tours of the “Going to the Sun” road.
Available mid-May - October.
As soon as we glimpsed your magic ‘cabin in the woods’, we all sighed. On exploring the fabulous interior…it was pure love… The girls in our group toured your treasures on the walls and ran our fingers over the timber furniture attempting to discover the past history of your collectibles.
Although rain fell and the misting clouds obscured our view into the valleys deep below, the Park in October was serenely beautiful. Our hope for bear sightings will have to be on another visit.
For Australians peeking into your National Parks and staying in your personalized home, it gave us a taste of Montana bliss.
Thank you for sharing.
We have spent 4 summer vacations at this gorgeous home on the river and near the entrance to Glacier National Park. The home has all the comforts of home plus a hot tub. It is located at the end of cul-de-sac making it ideal for kids to play in the front yard and light fireworks on July 4th. Our family rides bicycles from the home directly into the park for hikes, ice cream, events or just for fun. The boys learned to fly fish in the river in the back yard and caught their first trout. The house is also walking distance to the golf course. We can't say enough great things about this home and location. It's worth every penny.
Our family of three couldn't begin to fill up the comfortable and well appointed house,
but it still seemed so cozy for the nice dinners and fires we'd return to after exploring
and hiking in the park. The owner was super helpful with what we wanted to see and do in our limited time. The river was gloriously full, and such a pleasure to watch
from the porch, and rafting on it was a blast. No matter the agenda, this place is really well located, and we'd love to return.
The River home was the best part of our trip west. It was spotless and has all the amenities you would expect and need including a large capacity washer/dryer; dishwasher, etc, It is beautifully and personally decorated. The furniture is elegant yet comfortable and inviting. We enjoyed breakfasts in the sunny kitchen and dinner in the dining/living room space. But what is most memorable is the location. The view from every window is of Glacier National Park. I spent hours just walking along the river- rock shore of the crystal clear stream in the back of the property. And I enjoyed walking down the quiet road that passes a golf course with mountains in the background. I was prepared to see a bear, but instead encountered friendly neighbors who were enjoying their strolls in this unique location as much as I was. The River home is at the end of a cul de sac so it's very quiet at night. The entire stay was relaxing and rejuvenating and we can't wait to return.
The River home was perfect for our 2 small families. The location was ideal and very private.
We really enjoyed the abundance of artwork, the sunny decks and views, and sitting in the hot tub after a day of hiking and exploring Glacier Park. The home is decorated with a western flair and beautiful oak furniture.
We had a black bear in the back yard eating berries and saw lots of deer, eagles and even a beaver.
The fishing was outstanding right out our back door. We golfed, hiked, explored and enjoyed just relaxing and listening to the River.
Aside from feeling right at home you have the river in the back yard and a golf course in the front, quick access to hikes, town, lake, and Glacier.
I had the ultimate Birthday with friends and family. Watching a bear cross the bridge above me while fly fishing for my first time, lunch on the deck, a peaceful nap, then off for 18 holes of golf in the afternoon.
"Doesn't get any better than that". Our last day we sat on the deck and watched two bears climb a tree and eat berries for quite some time. All that without even getting in the car.
Fantastic house and location, comfortable, festive layout, and well maintained.
Quick and easy to get to Glacier and lots of hikes. You can go up to the lake in town and float the river right back to behind the house.
It was the perfect location and house for any and all activities, as well as comfort
Wow! I'd been needing some relaxation time in the woods and this spot in Glacier was per-fect. Couldn't have been cleaner, more comfy on the inside and *right* next to smashing rivers and wilderness on the outside. Sit by the fire at night. Read in the cool clear mountain air by the water all day. I'm a fisherman and if you are too, I don't need to share how good this area is -- but I also appreciated how the open rivers let beginners get out there and learn too. Anyway, I wish I had something to complain about :) but if you're looking for a spot in Glacier, this is it
Glacier National Park is across the river from this home on a quiet, dead end street.
The Middle Fork of the Flathead River is the eastern most boundary of the Park.
It is approx. one mile back around the golf course into West Glacier where the bridge crosses the River into Glacier National Park.
