Enjoy the tranquility of the Wisconsin River at rustic Jacks Cabin. Just 100 feet from the back deck flows the river, where you can fish, swim, canoe or kayak, run in the sand or watch large numbers of wildlife. There are deer, turkey, fox, eagles (and many more bird species) to be seen. Smallmouth bass, walleye and pike can be caught in the river by you and your family. The cabin is just 20 minutes from famous Wisconsin Dells or Baraboo. The Aldo Leopold Historical Site is just down the road, and Madison is a short 40 minutes away. Sit on the deck and watch the river flow by.

About John Love
This property was purchased by my grandfather, John V. (Jack) Cairns in 1944. I spent weekends and summers there from the time I was five until I enlisted in 1968. I lived there for two years from 1973 to 1975. My grandfather willed this property to his daughter, my mother, who willed it to her four children. The only one with any personal interest in keeping the Cabin was me, so eventually I bought them out. I maintain it as a rental to pay the bills and keep it up.. John Love

Clean, Cozy and Quiet!
Spent the weekend at this little gem! As other reviews said, Devil's Lake is only 20 min away; as is grocery shopping and restaurants. Martha is wonderful if you need anything! Had some great walks with the dogs too! Everything you NEED is available. Thank you John!! Left with some wonderful memories.
Very cozy and quiet place
Great place. Perfect for a quiet, somewhat secluded getaway. The only bad thing about it was the fishing. A few friends and I went on the river all day and couldn't catch a thing since the water was so shallow. Obviously John has no control over this, but it's just a warning. Place was clean and there was plenty of kitchen items, toilet paper, towels, etc. Highly recommend.
Jack's cabin: THE perfect wisconsin cabin getaway!
I had to attend a conference at the Kalahari and couldn't stomach the idea of going to Wisconsin and staying at a water park, so after a quick search on Homeaway, found this gem of a place. 10 minutes to the Dells without any of the plastic environment of the Dells. The cabin is 1940's quaint with everything you need. Including the history of the original owner, Jack. Love that guy! It was clean, plenty of kitchen equipment to cook. Beautiful Beds were comfortable, clean bath, and the cabin itself is surprisingly roomy. Outside - just beautiful laid back grounds. River front. Outdoor fire pit and grill. We didn't want to leave, and we will be back.
Nice quite place but....
It's nice place to stay. Close to Wisconsin dells and other places. The only problem was that the TV was small and old, frying pans were old and we could fry on them or everything would stuck to it. There was missing Grill utensils. But the biggest problem that we had was a river next day was half empty. What I found out from the neighbors that the Wisconsin Dell would shot down the dam, so screw up my fishing and other water stuff. It was like that until we left the place.
I will get new frying pans and TV this spring. Not much I can do about the water level in the Wisconsin River.
Had a great time
Me, my fiance and her two sons (18 and 14) stayed here for several days. It has access to the Wisconsin Dells (20 minutes or so) and swimming and fishing right on the river. The cabin and bed are comfortable, and there are plenty of extras utensils, kitchen items in case you forgot something. The neighbors are friendly. No complaints, bring mosquito repellant.
Weekend of the River
We met our son and his girlfriend from Chicago for a long weekend. It's about a four hour drive for each of us so just perfect. The cabin was a bit hard to find, but using our phone navigation system we were able to find it. The cabin was very clean and just what we were looking for. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We cooked a couple of meals so having the outdoor grill was nice.
Beautiful setting and very peaceful. Easy to get to the casino and to all the activities in the Dells. Thanks! Highly recommend.
The cabin is located on the Wisconsin River near Wisconsin Dells, Baraboo, Aldo Leopold home, International Crane Center and Circus World Museum.
