Green Valley Lake Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Welcome to our family getaway. Our cabin holds a special place in our hearts. It's where we gather to enjoy each others company, play games, hike, ski, build forts, spend the day at the lake, or just relax on the deck reading. Our children love it here, as do we. Our stress disappears the second we drive into this little town. Our memories are plenty, which is why we only rent it to those who will treat with kindness.

Our cabin backs to a seasonal stream and the National Forest. It's private and kid friendly with hiking trails, cross country skiing, sledding etc. right outside the front door.

Green Valley Lake (located between Lake Arrowhead & Big Bear in the San Bernardino Mountains) has been called 'The best kept secret on the mountain.' This charming town sits at 7200 in elevation and is only an 80 minute drive from the Los Angeles area. It offers all the amenities one needs to enjoy the mountain experience in both the winter and summer months.

About The Owner

We love getting away from the Los Angeles area to enjoy all the beauty, adventure, and serenity that the San Bernardino mountains has to offer. This is the place we come to create "memories at the cabin" that one day our children can share with their children. We love hiking, skiing, kayaking, and all the things we don't get to do in the city. Musicians in our former pre-kid life, we enjoy the occasional late night jam with friends, spending our time with our family and a good cold beer at the Eagles Nest as the sun sets on the lake;)

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2003

Why The Owner chose Inland Empire

We wanted a vacation spot that was easy to get too and in close proximity so that we could go often, and return quickly if we needed too. After exploring every little city in the San Bernardino Mountains, we finally made a turn on a little windy street which led us into the quaint picturesque town of Green Valley Lake. We knew when we drove into town that this was the place. We wanted a location where we did not have to get in the car to do things. In G.V.L. you can walk or ride your bike everywhere. The town is not congested with traffic and is extremely kid friendly. It sits at 7200 in elevation is is the first to get snow and the last to lose it. We also wanted a vacation home that had something to do all year round so that we could get the most out of it. Green Valley Lake is a year round vacation spot.

What makes this cabin unique

Green Valley Lake (also referred to as 'The Best Kept Secret on the Mountain)is exactly that. Nestled in a valley surrounded by National Forest at 7200 in elevation, this town is a throw back to a simpler time. The adorable Main Street has a great little grocery store, malt shop and a little pizza joint where you can listen to local musicians play music and drink a cold pitcher of beer. Across the street sits a picture perfect lake lined with fishermen, colorful canoes, a swimming beach (lifeguards included,) a kids swimming area, complete with a playground. Everything is within walking distance. We love that we don't have to get in the car if we don't want to, (which is not the case in many mountain locations) We ride our bikes to the grocery store and to the lake and literally walk out our front door to some of the best hiking trails on the mountain. The best feature about this location is that it is a year round resort. There is always something to do. Summers at the lake are awesome. Winter is ideal for sledding, cross country skiing and snow shoeing all a step out the front door. The really special feature of this town, which we have not found anywhere else, is the community. The full timer's in G.V.L. are the livelihood of this town. They care and are extremely active in keeping this place dreamy. Four times a year the town hosts an 'Artisans Tour'. A town map, which you pick up from the general store, guides you to the cabins of local artists where you can check out their work. You can look at or purchase everything from incredible pottery, paintings, candles, jewelry, hand made quilts, rustic furniture and more. Every holiday, the Women's Club plans great family events like Christmas Caroling in the snow, Tree lighting ceremony, 4th of July old fashioned parade down Main Street, Memorial Day Water Festival. It's pretty incredible. This place feels like you have gone back in time...and it is well worth the trip!

Storybook Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This place is storybook perfect! My family has had the pleasure of staying 3 times. The winter is magical with late snow falls and cozy fireplace dinners and we have memories to prove it. The summer is equally wonderful there with BBQ's on the porch, hiking and just plain looking at the stars! The cabin is one of the best you will find and will make you feel right at home. Definitely will stay there again.

We've stayed at this lovely cabin on a few occasions - in both summer and winter. It's so cozy, clean and a perfect retreat. Great family memories were made at Littell's Lodge. We look forward to our next visit.

Green Valley - Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful Cabin & Town... to relax and unwind! We found this Cabin a lovely place to come home to after a relaxing hike, day on the lake or Pizza in town! My 15 yr.old son enjoyed the BBQ on the large back back porch, The beds were very comfortable, and the cabin was very neat and clean, kitchen well stocked with all the dishes & utensils needed. People in town, very friendly, and my son happily made friends on the lake. Its just a short drive from Los Angeles, but feels worlds away.

This adorable cabin is clean, charming, beautifully furnished and delightfully comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Especially fabulous is the wood burning stove, which is so enjoyable after being out in the cold.

Map

Green Valley Lake has been called 'The best kept secret on the mountain' for good reason. This quaint, charming town takes pride in their picture perfect lake ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and excellent trout fishing. The beach area is designed with families in mind equipped with a playground and lifeguards in the summer months. The Artisan Tours and Celtic live music, as well as wonderful 'hometown' events held throughout the year makes this place extra dreamy. 'When you drive into Green Valley Lake, you feel like you have gone back in time to a place where people really care.'
