WE INVITE YOU TO RELAX AND REJUVENATE AT THE CABIN AT KILKELLYS!
Perched high on a finger ridge of the Eastern Continental Divide, in a gorgeous pristene area of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kilkelly's luxurious CABIN provides amazing long-range views, fully comparable to those seen from nearby Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks. In this unique 22-acre setting, you are surrounded by tall mountains and deep valleys, while privately nestled among flowers and gardens. Privacy was key in locating the CABIN. It is several hundred yards down the ridge from the Main House, out of sight and sound. And there are no other buildings or dwellings within sight or sound.
The remarkable long-range and layered views from the CABIN are seen from a high and vaulted prospective, extending over 100 miles across natural, undisturbed woodlands and fields! Sunrises and sunsets are varied and magnificent. It's also a perfect place to experience dramatic weather changes and cloud formations -- above you and below! And at night, it's a star gazer's dream! With no city lights, the stars are bright and plentiful (we furnish binoculars). And there are no highways nearby, or traffic noise to interfere with orchestral sounds of nature. And WOW, we have NO MOSQUITOES! Kind of a mountain paradise.
The CABIN itself is a custom 1600 SF, upscale cedar log home. It has two King bedroom suites, two pull-out sofas, two full baths, a fully appointed and stocked kitchen, a large gas grill, comfortable dining for six (inside and out), fine living room couches and swivel-rocker chairs, and a stone gas fireplace. There is a small pantry, lots of cabinet space, a game room with an indoor shuffleboard, and four wide-screen HD TVs with DVRs and DVDs (one with 3D). On the outside is a covered front porch, and open deck wrap around to an elevated attached gazebo, a lower patio with a 6-person Jacuzzi, lounge chairs, hammocks, and swings. We also have outdoor play areas and equipment for children and adults, including a 45-foot rope swing, a geo-dome, a standard swing set, a regulation horse shoe pit, and a stone fire pit. And of course, many adjacent and nearby walking trails, streams, and cascades.
The Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Bamboo Gap is only 1/3 mile from the CABIN, and Boone and Blowing Rock are just minutes away. Mileage distances: Boone downtown 5mi.; Blowing Rock downtown 8mi.; Appalachian Ski Mtn. 6mi.; Hawksnest Tubing & Zip Line Resort 18mi.; dSugar Mtn. Ski Resort 22mi.; Beech Mtn. Ski Resort 28mi; Banner Elk 22mi.; Grandfather Mtn. 19mi.; Linville Gorge Falls 34mi.; Mt. Mitchell 71mi.; Asheville 100mi.; West Jefferson 26mi.; Charlotte 100mi.; and HEAVEN -- 0mi.!
Our goal is to share this remarkable natural setting with our guests by providing private, warm and luxurious accommodations, and a memorable visit to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
WE WOULD LOVE TO WELCOME YOU TO THE CABIN AT KILKELLYS.

We are grateful to able to share this beauty with others. We want to provide a unique vacation destination, centered around the solitude, serenity, and majesty of this special place in the oldest mountain range on our continent.
Joanie & Gary Kilkelly purchased this cabin in 2009
We are fortunate to live on a beautiful ridge that joins the Blue Ridge Parkway, midway between Blowing Rock and Boone. Wanting to share with others our magnificent year-round views of the mountains, we designed and built the CABIN on a private bluff further out our ridge and well apart from our Main House.
Our mission is to provide our visitors with a rare combination of luxurious surroundings in the midst of some of the most rugged mountain beauty in the Appalachians.

True definition of peace on earth! You thought of every detail. Our pictures are breathtaking memories of a magical place. We can't thank you enough for your hospitality. We will see you again!
I wanted to take my wife somewhere special for her birthday and this placed offered breathtaking views and a beautiful and very spacious cabin. This place is very well maintained. Very welcoming as they had cookies and chocolates waiting for you when you arrive. They had a really nice shuffleboard table, hot tub and were stocked with a ton of board games and movies for the evening times. We had such a great time! Gary and Joanie are the nicest people and were extremely accommodating.
Wow, this place was awesome! Everything you need is pretty much provided. The amenities and decor made us not want to leave. And the views, amazing...the views are unforgettable. Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality and allowing us to stay in your lovely home.
The easiest thing I could write is: Just Book It and Go! You will NOT be sorry! However, this would not do justice to Joanie and Gary Kilkelly, the owners of this amazing property. We arrived and were greeted by Joanie and Gary upon check-in at their beautiful home. They gave us a brief overview of the cabin, things to do, places to shop, etc. When we walked into the cabin, we were mesmerized of course by the gorgeous view and found a nice touch of cookies waiting on the island in the kitchen. We took a quick look around and headed to Boone (only 10 minutes away) for groceries, etc. Boone is a very neat town and has everything you could need - including a hospital in case of emergencies!! Back to the cabin, it was so unique. You actually walk in on the second floor where the open kitchen/dining/living area is. The kitchen is furnished with anything you could need, the living area is very cozy with a large flat screen TV, the picture window amazing and the gas fireplace an awesome touch. Also located on this floor is a wonderful king bedroom with another large TV and large bathroom with double sinks and a large walk-in shower. When you step outside on this floor, you will find the swing and awesome view you see in the pictures on this VRBO property page in addition to a wrap-around deck, where the Kilkelly's provide seating areas with a "side" view and front porch view. The views are magical - we can't even describe them - you just have to see it for yourself. You will be in awe. When you head downstairs, you find another awesome space: a large entertainment space with a another large flatscreen TV equipped with 3D viewing availability, DVDs, books, games and a huge shuffle board game that is a lot of fun. You will also find another beautiful cozy king bedroom with a large window to the backyard, large TV and a large bathroom with double sinks and a large walk-in shower. As you walk outside on this floor, you find a beautiful small backyard and a large hot tub - again with great views. I could go on and on, however I will close with the privacy provided at this cabin. It's like your own little world. You are surrounded by beautiful landscaping and the mountain views of course. The Kilkelly's did a beautiful job with the setting! Again, Just BOOK it - you will NOT be disappointed! Thanks Joanie and Gary!
We enjoyed our stay and loves the peaceful surroundings. We will be back soon.
My husband and I booked the cabin for our honeymoon, wanting a peaceful and scenic spot to begin our married life and relax after the stress of all the wedding planning. We could not have been happier with our choice. The cabin was spotless and so well organized - these owners truly think of everything. It was also very private yet convenient to dining, shopping and attractions. There was plenty to do nearby (Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain) but the property was so beautiful that there wasn't any need to leave. We so enjoyed just sitting, relaxing and taking in the views. There is plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor, for that and also a rope swing that makes you feel like a kid again! The morning we were checking out, my husband said he would like to come back. We were definitely satisfied customers, and neither of us had a single complaint.
The cabin was everything we hoped for and more! The owner's attention to every detail made the stay very enjoyable. Our children enjoyed the wild life in the area. We even saw a racoon on the back porch one early morning!
There is lots to do in the area and plenty of restaurants to choose from. We also cooked in a lot, the kitchen had everything we needed. The atmosphere was great for our special needs child as well.
The hosts are very welcoming and their company was like the icing on the cake. They are the type of people that you want to get to know.
We hate leaving the cabin and are already planning a return!
