WE INVITE YOU TO RELAX AND REJUVENATE AT THE CABIN AT KILKELLYS!
Perched high on a finger ridge of the Eastern Continental Divide, in a gorgeous pristene area of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kilkelly's luxurious CABIN provides amazing long-range views, fully comparable to those seen from nearby Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks. In this unique 22-acre setting, you are surrounded by tall mountains and deep valleys, while privately nestled among flowers and gardens. Privacy was key in locating the CABIN. It is several hundred yards down the ridge from the Main House, out of sight and sound. And there are no other buildings or dwellings within sight or sound.
The remarkable long-range and layered views from the CABIN are seen from a high and vaulted prospective, extending over 100 miles across natural, undisturbed woodlands and fields! Sunrises and sunsets are varied and magnificent. It's also a perfect place to experience dramatic weather changes and cloud formations -- above you and below! And at night, it's a star gazer's dream! With no city lights, the stars are bright and plentiful (we furnish binoculars). And there are no highways nearby, or traffic noise to interfere with orchestral sounds of nature. And WOW, we have NO MOSQUITOES! Kind of a mountain paradise.
The CABIN itself is a custom 1600 SF, upscale cedar log home. It has two King bedroom suites, two pull-out sofas, two full baths, a fully appointed and stocked kitchen, a large gas grill, comfortable dining for six (inside and out), fine living room couches and swivel-rocker chairs, and a stone gas fireplace. There is a small pantry, lots of cabinet space, a game room with an indoor shuffleboard, and four wide-screen HD TVs with DVRs and DVDs (one with 3D). On the outside is a covered front porch, and open deck wrap around to an elevated attached gazebo, a lower patio with a 6-person Jacuzzi, lounge chairs, hammocks, and swings. We also have outdoor play areas and equipment for children and adults, including a 45-foot rope swing, a geo-dome, a standard swing set, a regulation horse shoe pit, and a stone fire pit. And of course, many adjacent and nearby walking trails, streams, and cascades.
The Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Bamboo Gap is only 1/3 mile from the CABIN, and Boone and Blowing Rock are just minutes away. Mileage distances: Boone downtown 5mi.; Blowing Rock downtown 8mi.; Appalachian Ski Mtn. 6mi.; Hawksnest Tubing & Zip Line Resort 18mi.; dSugar Mtn. Ski Resort 22mi.; Beech Mtn. Ski Resort 28mi; Banner Elk 22mi.; Grandfather Mtn. 19mi.; Linville Gorge Falls 34mi.; Mt. Mitchell 71mi.; Asheville 100mi.; West Jefferson 26mi.; Charlotte 100mi.; and HEAVEN -- 0mi.!
Our goal is to share this remarkable natural setting with our guests by providing private, warm and luxurious accommodations, and a memorable visit to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We are grateful to able to share this beauty with others. We want to provide a unique vacation destination, centered around the solitude, serenity, and majesty of this special place in the oldest mountain range on our continent.
Joanie & Gary Kilkelly purchased this cabin in 2009
We are fortunate to live on a beautiful ridge that joins the Blue Ridge Parkway, midway between Blowing Rock and Boone. Wanting to share with others our magnificent year-round views of the mountains, we designed and built the CABIN on a private bluff further out our ridge and well apart from our Main House.
Our mission is to provide our visitors with a rare combination of luxurious surroundings in the midst of some of the most rugged mountain beauty in the Appalachians.

Great time! Came here to get away from the heat in FL. While an overcast & rainy week, it didn't matter with the wonderful gazebo. Spent most of our time out there. The cabin is fantastic. Will be back.
This cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. Our expectations were very high and it met them in EVERY way. From the moment we met Joanie and Gary Kilkelly to our leaving a week later. They have thought of everything that you could possibly need or want. We enjoyed the views beyond anything we could have imagined. It was a completely relaxing time for all of us. We will definitley return again at a different time of the year.
The Kilkellys are very welcoming and super helpful! When we arrived at the cabin, we knew there was no better place to stay in NC. Of course, the first thing we did when we arrived was look out the window at the beautiful view since cabin offers a panoramic view of the mountains. Downstairs, there's a shuffleboard set which is where we spent most of our time at night. The cabin offers wifi and satellite TV, but we rarely used either. The kitchen has everything one would need (pots, measuring cups, set of knives, pans, etc.). Outside, there's a hot tub which we used in 20° weather; surprisingly, it was very relaxing regardless of the frigid temps! The location itself is wonderful. It's on the edge of Boone, so about 10 minutes from restaurants and stores. Situated off the Blue Ridge Parkway, it's very easy to find hiking trails and sights nothing short of beautiful.
To call this place a cabin is really underselling it. It's a gorgeous and spacious home on a mountain top with all the amenities. There is nothing 2nd rate about this place. If you enjoy cooking, this kitchen is for you. The Kilkelly's even stocked it with all the spices and dried herbs you'll need. It's location is also perfect. It's far enough away if you want seclusion, yet close enough to other tourist spots for hiking, shopping, and dining. My wife and I loved our stay and will definitely go back.
This exhortation is displayed prominently over the heavenly view of the Eastern Continental Divide from Joanie and Gary Kilkelly's cabin perched high on a finger ridge off the historic Blue Ridge Parkway. Joanie and Gary have taken this verse to heart as their attention to every detail of their mountain retreat will make your stay divine.
The Kilkellys reside just up the the road from their beautiful cabin. Aside from a brief intro (which left me wanting to get to know them more), they leave you to your own devices in their well-appointed cabin. I suspect that due to their proximity, they would be ready to assist with any problems if necessary - we had zero problems to call upon them. Joanie and Gary's invisible helping hands are everywhere in the cabin - all needs are anticipated and everything is well-explained and provided in the form of notes or books.
Rather than run down a laundry list of the real, meaningful attention to detail we discovered I will briefly touch on only one of my favorites - the view from inside the cabin. Of course, the Kilkellys did not place the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains outside their cabin, but the following is just a few of the steps Joanie and Gary took to help enhance your enjoyment of the view. A large picture window next to large sliding glass doors, select and place outstanding furnishings to maximize comfort and viewing. The landscaping...the landscaping! What a labor of love! So much hard work could easily go unnoticed as they seamlessly blended scrubs, trees, turf and fencing surrounding the cabin and even down the mountain side. Bird feeders and baths that attracts not only beautiful sights and sounds of flying friends, but also a family of wild bunnies. Books and pamphlets to learn more about your view. There is much more to this one aspect, but this is just a review.
When our family selects a cabin, we place priority on a few things: 1) the view, this was covered and briefly discussed above 2) cleanliness - the cabin was immaculately clean 3) comforts and appointments - Wifi, nice furnishings, full kitchen, updated, modern conveniences - all covered and well done.
My two girls are certainly angels and they have been shown great hospitality. As for my husband and myself we can only offer a message of appreciation for Kilkelly Cabin which clearly is a spiritual devotion for Joannie and Gary.
This is our second visit to the Kilkelly cabin and we will always return to this cabin when we come to Boone. You're minutes away from shopping and dining. They thought of everything you'll need to enjoy your stay. Bed is very comfy and the linens are really nice. The sunrises 🌅 will not disappoint either!
"Just GO." I can't imagine anyone not absolutely loving this property! The cabin is everything it is advertised to be and SO. MUCH. MORE. It is perfect in every possible way: secluded yet a mere 10 minute drive from Boone; beautifully appointed with a comfortable, welcoming feel; spotlessly clean in every respect; and hosts Gary and Joanie are warmly welcoming and available for any possible need, information, etc. As an author, I sought a private place for retreat and writing, and the time I spent at KilKelly's was absolutely wonderful in every respect. The views! The songbirds and wildlife! The tranquility! It is fantastic, inspiring, and very reasonable in price.
