Additional Rules and Safety Information:

We share the mountain with wildlife, including black bears and elk and they have been seen on the property and immediately outside the cabin in the past. We recommend that guests refer to the National Park Service guidance for recommendations in the event of an encounter. We require that outdoor areas, including the cabin deck, be kept free from trash and food scraps to avoid attracting wildlife.

The cabin may not be suitable for all children because of the steep hillside, multiple stairs and fireplaces, and potential for wildlife encounters on the premises. Child/baby equipment and safety devices are not provided.

HOA rules include speed limit of 10 MPH, no parking on the road, no airborne fireworks and no unreasonably loud music or noise between the hours of 10 PM-7AM in accordance with Haywood County rules.

House rules not noted above include no smoking or vaping indoors, food off-limits in gazebo to avoid bear damage, gas logs must not be moved and fireplaces should not cooked over, wifi and house electronic devices must remain in place and connected, and avoiding placing excessive weight on the pool table.

There is no regular trash collection in this area and garbage must be taken to a nearby county waste disposal site. For guest convenience upon departure, housekeeping will dispose of several bags of trash. Guests staying longer than several days are responsible for interim garbage disposal, or may request special trash pick-up for an extra fee.

Winter Access - While the cold season here is typically not extreme, winter weather may occasionally present travel challenges. A 4 WD vehicle, while not required in normal weather, is strongly advised for inclement wintry conditions. The paved road up the mountain to the cabin is maintained by the HOA, including snow removal when needed. While there are a number of other homes and vacation rentals that use the road, we don't have control over how quickly snow removal may occur. There is a snow shovel and ice melt on the premises for guest use if necessary, and parking at the top of the driveway may be the preferred option during inclement conditions. At this time we don't have a contractor on demand to clear the driveway. As long as guests understand the risks, and that extra effort may be involved to access the driveway, we are happy to host you during the winter season.

Recommend motorcyclists arrive during daylight hours. As specified by North Carolina Statutes, Chapter 42A, Vacation Rental Act: THIS IS A VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT UNDER THE NORTH CAROLINA VACATION RENTAL ACT. THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE PARTIES TO THIS AGREEMENT ARE DEFINED BY LAW AND INCLUDE UNIQUE PROVISIONS PERMITTING THE DISBURSEMENT OF RENT PRIOR TO TENANCY AND EXPEDITED EVICTION OF TENANTS. Excellent family vacation cabin
The owner provided a very comprehensive guidebook covering numerous topics about the cabin. They checked with us via email but were not over-bearing. The access roads are all paved with room for 2 cars to pass. The cabin is very clean with three levels giving plenty of room for 6 of us. The owner labeled all the light switches which was very helpful. We appreciated the dining room table with 6 chairs for nightly family dinners. The cabin is well supplied so we just needed to bring our own groceries. Our grandson loved the lower level with wide screen tv for his games. He was the ping pong (table in garage) champ beating all of us. The cabin is an easy drive (20-25 minutes) to Maggie Valley and Waynesville. The week went too quickly but we enjoyed our stay and appreciate how accommodating the owners were,

Absolutely wonderful.
This is truly a wonderful vacation rental!!! We loved everything about this house and the area. The home owners have thought of everything to help make your stay perfect. The beds were comfortable. It was so clean. The kitchen is fully stocked. We enjoyed all the games in the house…especially my 3 teenage kids. My kids really enjoyed the pool table. There was plenty of room around the table to play easily. We loved exploring the area. You should definitely take the drive to Cataloochee Valley to see the elk and explore the historic buildings. It was a magical experience. Don’t forget to watch for the fireflies lighting up the fields in the evening . Make sure you have breakfast at Joey’s Pancake House in Maggie Valley. So good! Also check out Soco Falls if you like waterfalls. Great spot for pictures. We also went to Lake Fontana for a fun fishing trip and enjoyed a visit to Bryson City. There was so much to see and do. We would definitely go back and stay here again.
