If you are looking for a 'party' house, this is not the place for which you are searching. Rather, one or two mature couples, or a family of four or five who wish to spend some quality time together are the guests who will get the most from this lovely lakeside setting.
AS LABOR DAY APPROACHES
Labor Day Week begins with the Chatham Fair, one of the oldest in NYS (since 1850.) Children of all ages can enjoy the rides, sounds, foods and ambiance of this fun-filled traditional celebration. “Bloomin' Onions,” anyone?
Fall will soon be here and upstate New York will be in full color. It is a beautiful time of the year to be in residence at the Little Cottage. Many of the local farmers will begin their autumn apple festivals as well. Several years ago we found a farm that had converted their barn into a 'Haunted House' and its Farmers' Market was plentiful with fresh fall produce, preserves and many holiday crafts.
Now is an ideal time for browsing and buying china, antiques and/or clothing at the New England Outlets. The Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, The Norman Rockwell Museum and the state Capitol still are open to visitors and make great day-trip destinations. At the end of the day returning home to the Lake and curling-up in front of a welcoming fireplace with a glass of wine and those you love may be just the kind of R&R you need and deserve.
