About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 1/2 Baths, Sleeps 10

Our home is just north of the Village of Caseville located on 12 wooded acres with 250 feet of beach frontage on Saginaw Bay 1200 feet from the highway on a private road. Once in a while, early in the morning or late in the evening some deer will visit. We have even seen wild turkeys and a bald eagle or two. It has been our getaway for more than 60 years. The current house was built in the sixties. There are 3 bedrooms, one with a king, one with a full size bed and one with 2 twins. 1 sofa bed, a queen, in the breezeway and 1 sofa-bed, a double, in the living room .

It is an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Detroit. Perfect for families who just want to relax, play on the beach and watch the sunset. Sorry No Pets.

A family home: The great thing about our home is the privacy. It is also great for kids with a large lawn for games like bocce ball or just playing catch. The sandy beach is large where kids can play safely away from the water's edge. It is also great for fires at night, marsh mellow and hot dog roasts. There are no rocks in the water or drop offs--just a gradual deepening of 100 yards or more.

Attractions: Caseville has several good casual places to eat, plus, in the summer season, boat and kayak rentals, miniature golf, batting cage, bumper boats and a giant slide for non beach activities. There are also boat charters to take full advantage of the perch and near by salmon fishing. There are several public golf courses in the area. The City pier and public beach is a 15 minute walk along the shoreline from our place. Port Austin is a short drive away to add to the list of things to do including 2 fine dining restaurants..

Towels and Linens: We supply bed linens, sheets & pillow cases plus had and dish towels. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, silverware and cooking utensils. There will be a $400 refundable damage/security deposit and a non-refundable $100 cleaning deposit.

About James V. Bellanca, Jr

The property has been in our family since 1949. The current house was built in 1961. It is a perfectly preserved mid-century ranch with all the amenities.

Perfect for the family and safe for kids.

What makes this house unique

We believe we have the largest private beach on Saginaw Bay from Bayport to Port Austin. Plus we are 1200 feet from the highway which makes our home secluded, quiet and peaceful - yet just a short mile from the center of Caseville.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just got home from our wonderful vacation. I want to thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful vacation home!! It served our group very well--lots of space for the kids. Everything was so clean when we arrived, we felt at home right away!! The beach area and the lake are beautiful, and the sunsets were unbelievable!! We spent more time in the water this vacation than we ever did before.

One thing we forgot there is a large amount of freshly caught walleye--we were very bummed when we realized it. But--it's in the freezer if you are interested or if you know of anyone who might be. It's all filleted and ready to be cooked and eaten. If not it can be thrown away.

Also, we are very interested in returning next year. We've been doing this for many years already with our kids, and we are looking for a long term vacation rental. Are you planning on offering your home for rent for a few more years?? Let me know--we really would like to come back next year, if you'll have us.

So, thanks again, and I will wait to hear back from you.

A Place to Regenerate!

  • 5 of 5

This was a getaway that was completely comfortable, relaxing, and worry free. It was not fancy at all, as a matter of fact, it was a little retro in furnishings and decor, but I loved it and felt the 'family' vibe. I loved the family pictures, the little touches in the house that were so personal. It was like visiting your family cottage with bits and pieces from different members of the group there to share with you.

The house was furnished with far more kitchenware that could ever be needed, the beds were comfortable, cable tv worked great, the house was well maintained and we experienced no problems whatsoever. There was a notebook giving instructions and names and numbers to contact in emergencies. There was even suggestions of surrounding restaurants and activities in the book.

I loved the two dining room tables! So much room to spread out and work on my projects. Perfect for a crafters getaway, or a scrapbooking weekend! A "Girls Weekend" retreat would be perfect here.

The area is great, lots to do and a fantastic beach, and the SUNSETS!! Wow! A real treat! Not for the person that wants the latest and most current furnishings, but for the person that really wants to relax and enjoy themselves without worrying.

The owners were very accommodating and anxious to make sure our time there was enjoyable. The area is beautiful and there is so much to do in the area. We came in the early winter, but there were still plenty to do and several restaurants and stores were still open.

We had a great time and can't wait to return again next year. Thank you for a great getaway!

Owner's Response: Caseville will aways be our home. The present house was built in the 1960's, but the property has been our family's retreat,, summer and winter, for more than 60 years. We wouldn't change a thing about it. There are just too many memories. It is time to share them with others. We hope that others will make their own memories.

Owner's Response: We have owned this property since 1949. Three generations going on four have grown up here spending summers. Having people share our family's memories and build their own, is an unexpected bonus to our decision to rent it in the summer months. Thank you for your loyalty and kind words.

Best Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

I used to spend summers at a rented cabin in Caseville in the 70s. Former review is spot on, very retro but very family orientated and very, very clean! Nice breeze off the water most days. Had a number of little ones so the beach, large yard, and downtown Caseville attractions were perfect! There is a bell hanging out in the yard and each night the kids fought over who was going to ring it for dinner! I noticed at the end of the week that although there was a tv w/ cable for kids right before bedtime, there were hardly any electronic devices used among the family which is very rare now days! Kids DS's and Ipads, even the parent's cell phones were left on the counter all week. As we were packing to leave my niece said "I want to spend the whole week up here with you next year." So apparently, we are coming back! Thanks again!

Caseville convenience

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was a great place to stay on our family vacation. It was clean and spacious. It was also very well stocked and we could find anything we needed for cooking our meals. The private beach in front was great for spending the day playing in the sand and the local park was a close walk for playground time. The water was warm with many sandbars to play on. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

Owner's Response: The property has been in our family for 60 years. The current cottage replaces the one that we lost to a fire in the early 1960's. All of the children numbering 3 generations in our family played on on that beach. We are so happy you and your family enjoyed it. Thank you.

Whatever the season the thumb area of Michigan is one of its best kept secrets. In summer the Saginaw Bay waters are warm and friendly with sandy bottoms. In fall the drive along M-25 between Port Austin and Bay City is considered one of the most beautiful in the state. Year round the sunsets are enchanting.
