About David Dodson

My wife Nancy and I live in Chattanooga, Tn with our 2 children, ages 6 and almost 2.

David Dodson purchased this villa in 2008

Why David Dodson chose Hilton Head

We love the close proximity to the beach and the spaciousness of these villas. Also love the large pool and private courtyard with lagoons.

What makes this villa unique

The complex is very quiet and family friendly. The courtyard area is lush with beatiful landscaping and a lagoon, all enclosed by the villas and fencing in between.

Good and convenient property

  • 4 of 5

Beds were very comfy, love the beach closet--a def plus, kitchen great. AC did not cool as well as we would prefer--was set on 78 when we arrived(in May 2016)--not pleasant. Never was able to catch up and cool down. Sitting on lil deck is nice. If AC works better, were would be back

Lots of Room and Convenient Access to A LOT

  • 4 of 5

My family had a great getaway.

A lot of beds! Comfortable beds at that.

Totally comfortable seating and relaxing atmosphere.

The ironing board was broken and when we contacted Dave (the owner) he was super helpful and we got a new ironing board. If we had questions he was easy to get ahold of...

I recommend this place!

It is a little out dated bu

Close to beach and lots of room!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 7 spent the week here in late July and we had a great time. The property is large and comfortable. The pool was conveniently located and it never felt very crowded when we went. Although we spent much more time at the beach. We drove most of the time just because we had so much stuff with 5 kids and it was easy enough to get there and park across the street but I think it was actually faster to ride bikes since you can skip the parking lot. Either way though it was only about 5 minutes from door to sand. The entrance to Coligny Beach is beautiful with the boardwalk, swings, and rocking chairs. And the kids loved the water fountains, I don't think we ever passed them without someone going in. The beach cart thing was nice for carrying all of the towels, umbrellas, toys, and beach chairs down to the sand. Our favorite time to go was at lowtide when the water was far out and little pools formed in the sand that our little ones enjoyed playing in. When the tide starts coming in you have to watch out, it comes fast and we kept having to move our stuff.

We also really enjoyed having bikes. Lots of places to bike to, although we found out that Sea Pines doesn't allow outsiders in on their bike paths. Riding on the beach was neat but careful you're not down there at high tide because there isn't really any place to ride when the water is that far in.

Other than that, the kitchen had all the appliances and things we needed for a week, all the tvs worked as expected (and there are lots of tvs), and the beds were all comfortable. One disappointment was the lack of a grill but a guy from one of the other units said there was a property-wide "no grilling" policy. No a big deal though. The best part about the place though is probably the location; close to the beach and central to most everything else. And one of the best parts about the location was that it's close to Rita's, my favorite Italian Ice/Frozen Custard place.

Plenty of space

  • 4 of 5

This unit is in a great location: quick drive to the beach and Coligny Plaza or a short walk. It was a quiet area and we felt safe. We had eight people with 3 cars and parking was never an issue. An individual bathroom for each of the 3 bedrooms and plenty of hot water. Each bedroom also had a TV. We ate in a few nights and had pots, pans and utensils necessary to cook. The pool was close by and had plenty of chairs. The keyless entry made it possible for everyone to go their own way without having to worry about getting in. The wireless internet worked seamlessly. The storage unit had 4 comfortable beach chairs, and kept us from getting sand in the condo. Having a washer and dryer in the unit, was also a plus for eight people over a two week stay. Although there were many positives, we were somewhat disappointed that some basic essentials were not supplied. For example, ice cube trays, coffee filters, dish washing soap, kleenex, napkins, salt & pepper, and Windex (every table in the living/dining room area was glass.) We found one dish cloth and one tea towel were insufficient. Finally, replacing the air filters on a regular basis would leave a better impression on renters.

Owner's Response: We try to stock our unit with a starter supply of the basic necessities including dishwasher detergent, soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, and dishtowels which is typical of most vacation rental properties. We appreciate the feedback and comments.

Nice location, but a little run down.

  • 3 of 5

The area is very nice, the villa was clean, but is in very much need of repairs. When we arrived the toilet in the first floor bedroom did not flush, the drains do not drain well, slight bit of mold is starting to grow in the bathrooms, there is also parts in the roof where stucco is separating, and etc. The villa overall just needs a bit of updating and repairs. Besides this the location is great.

Owner's Response: Wow, wasn't expecting this; especially since we were never contacted by this guest about any problems or issues. We try to address any items that need attention as soon as possible. The Springwood Complex is a little bit older but has been recently painted, and new keyless entry doors installed and the pool and grounds are well maintained and beautiful. Our unit has had many updates including granite counter tops in the kitchen, new light fixtures and door hardware, new faux wood blinds, new carpet, etc. We regret that the drains in some of the tubs do drain a little slow but the grounds are beautiful, our unit is very spacious, and the pool is nice and large and steps from our unit. Our unit is not advertised as a luxury unit but it is affordable and spacious will accommodate up to 8 guests comfortably. We were at the unit three weeks prior to this guest's stay and had all the carpets and tile cleaned along with the furniture in the living room. Please consider the rest of our reviews in addition to this one. We will certainly try to address all the issues mentioned as much as is reasonably possible. The Dodson Family
