Thank you so much for sharing your home with us to help celebrate our son's wedding. The last few days have been the best -- your home was a big part of that!
Our son who lives in the Twin cities, with his girlfriend, was unable to make it back home for Thanksgiving. On a whim, we decided to bring the entire family to Minnesota instead. There was a problem: His tiny kitchen and small apartment were not going to be able to accommodate our family of multiple generations... a family who enjoys hanging out in the kitchen and cooking together. Hotels were not an option. What would Thanksgiving be without a home cooked meal? And then we came across Ohage house. From the minute we entered the front door with expansive hallways, high ceilings, a dramatic staircase, we knew we were in for a treat. Elegant, yet homey. Two separate parlors allowing the comfort of curling up with a great book, or playing board games. A surprise lower level with bar, pool table, pinball games and cozy room for watching television made our grandchildren repeat over and over, "best vacation ever"The large dining room with it's round table, allowed for excellent conversation and plenty of platters of food. . Wonderful second floor with spacious bedrooms and very comfortable beds. The kitchen was amazing and beyond what we would have expected. well stocked with every tool needed to create and complete a wonderful dinner. We walked to the science museum, we played football in the park across the street, but mostly just enjoyed the precious time we were able to spend in this wonderful historic home, catching up with each other and listening to the most amazing play lists of eclectic music our hosts provided through a fantastic sound system through much of the house. The convenience of this location being within walking distance to everything, entertainment, great restaurants. The home itself is spotless and clean. We knew that our hosts were always a phone call away. We all had a hard time leaving this most magical home and would love to see it in summer.
The Mansion on Irving Park was perfect for our family reunion. Easy access via MSP, loved the riverwalk, plenty of room to enjoy the house and garden for all. Thanks for the memories. The Smith Family
It was such a pleasure to stay in this amazing historic home in such a great neighborhood. Walking every day by the river, enjoying the screened porch and basement while also a short car ride to everything we needed to do. There were 7 of us and it was beyond spacious. Great main street with restaurants and coffee and Cossettas is a must do for food and atmosphere. Dirk was easy to work with and very accommodating. Highly recommend!
What a lovely property. We were in town for a short family getaway. Ages ranged from 18 months to 61 years. We took advantage of the great back yard for Frisbee and playing catch. Enjoyed the screened porch early morning and evening. Skeptical of the round dining table at first but found it worked wonderfully for our group of 9. Lower level game and theater rooms came in handy after the little ones went down for the night. Great amenities and location. We could walk for coffee and pastries early in the morning . Very close to museums. Awesome park across the street. Only things we could have used were crib/pack 'n play and a high chair. Very enjoyable!
Dirk and Ruth have a VERY special place that they graciously loan/rent to those who also appreciate a time honored historical home! 6 women enjoyed and basked in the warmth of this "mansion" on Irvine Park. We were comfortable, fine accomadations for us. The Kitchen was more than adequate, as we did blend eating in and dining out! The weather did not cooperate for us to utilize the great firepit, and outdoor/ screened porch social areas. Multiple sitting areas, enjoying conversaton and a glass of red, were available for our choosing. Our group is well traveled and accustomed to luxury accomodations. EVERYONE loved the venue for our every 5 year reunion! Thank you.
My husband and I were looking for a home for a weekend where we could catch up with out of town friends before we ourselves went back home overseas. The hosts were communicative and well-organized, down to providing fresh ground coffee from Dunn Brothers up on West 8th.
It was an exceptional weekend, we saw many wedding groups and families doing photo shoots across the street at Irvine Park itself. The house provided an elegant setting for catching up as well as a central base of operations to walk to the Farmer's Market, up to Cossetta's and other restaurants and watch the fall colors.
Thank you for the memories!
