Ground Floor Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4), Large Screened Porches
Welcome to 'Seaglass Serenity'... Incredible location.... Beachfront at the mouth of Charleston Harbor, this charming ground floor condominium has views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Charleston Harbor.
The wide sandy beach is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, fishing, or launching small sailboats. The National Park Service and the Town of Sullivan's Island maintain over a mile of undeveloped, protected beach and maritime forest adjacent to the property where you can have undisturbed strolls on the beach. The condo is immediately next door to Fort Moultrie, a National Historic Site with museum and tours, that played significant roles in both the Revolutionary War and Civil War. Fort Sumter, site of the first conflict of the Civil War, can be seen across the harbor. The main channel into Charleston lies nearby, allowing clear views of every ship passing into or out of the harbor. Dolphins play just off shore.
This condo is one of four individually owned units that were originally built as Army Nurse's quarters circa 1910, and are the only vacation rental beachfront condominiums on Sullivan's Island. This unique historic property preserves the charm of the hundred year old structure, but this unit has been renovated and professionally decorated to appeal to today's traveler. The condominium features large front and back screened porches with ceiling fans, rocking chairs, swing, and dining area. The remodeled back porch features a Charleston Bed Swing. Inside, the original hardwood floors give the condominium the feel of an old Southern beach cottage, while providing all modern amenities including flat panel HDTVs (2), stereo with iPod dock, and Wi-Fi. The ground floor location allows easy access with parking only a few steps away. The condo has two bedrooms with the beach-side bedroom having a queen bed, while the rear bedroom has two singles.
Sullivan's Island provides a location that is quiet, uncrowded, with a very relaxed lifestyle. There is not a single traffic light on the island. The island is primarily residential; yet it has several excellent restaurants, post office, library, art gallery, and small grocery store within a mile of the condo. The three mile long island is perfect for exploring by bicycle or golf cart. Public tennis courts and playground are just down the street. One of the beauties of this quiet oceanfront paradise is that it is only a 15 minute drive from historic downtown Charleston and even closer to the shopping and dining areas of Mount Pleasant.
*This is a Saturday-Saturday, weekly only, rental from 5/16/15 to 8/29/15; 3 night minimum in off season. *

About Laura Wall
We are a family of four from Atlanta who have been vacationing in the Charleston area and South Carolina Low Country for many years. We have come to enjoy the Charleston area best of all. We find the combination of Southern Charm, history, shopping, and excellent food compelling. Now that we have an anchor at Sullivan's Island, we are happy to share the beautiful, quiet beach; access to wonderful local restaurants -- especially seafood; friendly locals; historic Ft. Moultrie, Ft. Sumter (viewed from our condo), the beautiful ships coming into Charleston Harbor; and historic, authentic, Charleston!
Laura Wall purchased this Condo in 2008
Why Laura Wall chose Sullivan's Island
We wanted a beachfront location that was free of crowds, quiet and relaxing, yet close to excellent dining and entertainment. We enjoy the history of Charleston from the old rice plantations to the fine pre-revolutionary city homes. Charleston has a grace and charm that few American cities possess. From the performances of the Spoleto Festival, the excellent antique shopping, the tours of historic sites, to the Shrimp boats and fishing charters on Shem Creek, Charleston captivates. Sullivan's Island provides easy access to all this, but seems a world away from the bustle.
What makes this Condo unique
This is an extremely relaxing location, beachfront at the Charleston harbor entrance where dolphins play, and you get close up views of all the ships entering the harbor. The island is perfect for bicycle riding, has several excellent restaurants within a mile, and is loaded with history. Outdoor activities abound, from deep sea fishing, to wildlife tours of the salt march, to excellent golf on nearby Isle of Palms.

We very much enjoyed staying on Sullivan's Island. Staying at Seaglass Serenity was the perfect spot and the condo was charming. It was very well supplied and we were very comfortable. Loved it!
Great Location on Sullivan's Island
Laura, We had a wonderful time at your home on Sullivan's Island. It was our first visit to the island, and I can see why you chose to buy a property there. Your unit was beautiful! It was cozy, inviting, and visually intriguing. I've never seen so many oyster plates! My husband especially enjoyed watching the boat traffic and container ships making their way into the port. We enjoyed walks on the beach, a visit to Fort Moultrie, and the laid-back atmosphere of the island. Thanks for sharing your condo with us!
Jane, Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review of Seaglass Serenity! It is so good to hear what our guests like and appreciate. We always strive to keep Seaglass comfortable, updated, clean, and interesting. Did your husband find the app that you can use by pointing your device at the boats, and it gives you lots of information about that particular ship? Please come back often!
Fantastic place to enjoy one of Charleston's most charming islands
We stayed for a long weekend at this terrific beachfront condo with our two young daughters and couldn't have been happier. The location by the beach and next to Fort Moultrie is ideal -- tucked away on the very relaxed Sullivans Island and still just a short drive from Charleston. We'll definitely come back!
Thanks so much for your great review! Hope that ya’ll will come back often!
Property could not have been better! Nice linens/towels, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable porches.
Clean and tidy! Great location at the southern end of the island overlooking Ft. Sumter, the Charleston Harbor & Morris Island lighthouse. Right next door to historic Ft Moultrie which fronts on the ocean as well as the backside of the island & creek. You won't be disappointed here at Seagrass Serenity!!!!
Picture perfect spot! The condo was clean, comfortable and had supplies for everything you might need. We loved walking the beach and sitting in the Adirondack chairs watching the ships, boats and dolphins. Many thanks to the Wahls for sharing their special place
Catherine - You sent in a great review for Seaglass Serenity at the end of last year. Now that we are getting “caught up” with our yearly updates - we want to thank you for the review, and invite you back to see the improvements we made after the huge snow we had after New Year’s!
We have now stayed here 4 times, and feel so comfortable with the location, and the neighbors (really nice folks). The place is immaculate, and nicely decorated. Laura and Bill keep it very well maintained.
You just can't find anything comparable with beach access and views right off your porch. Restaurants just 1 mile away, and less than 15 minutes into the heart of Charleston. We walked every morning on the beach. Historical Fort Moultrie is about 50 feet away and is a nice buffer and pretty cool to visit.
You can't miss with Seaglass Serenity.
Craig - a belated thank you for your great review of Seaglass Serenity! We love having ya’ll visit!!
Next door access to launch small boats, tours and museum of historic fort, public tennis courts and park, art gallery, golf cart rentals for non-main street transportation, convenient for Spoleto Festival.
