Sullivan's Island Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Welcome to 'Seaglass Serenity'... Incredible location.... Beachfront at the mouth of Charleston Harbor, this charming ground floor condominium has views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Charleston Harbor.

The wide sandy beach is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, fishing, or launching small sailboats. The National Park Service and the Town of Sullivan's Island maintain over a mile of undeveloped, protected beach and maritime forest adjacent to the property where you can have undisturbed strolls on the beach. The condo is immediately next door to Fort Moultrie, a National Historic Site with museum and tours, that played significant roles in both the Revolutionary War and Civil War. Fort Sumter, site of the first conflict of the Civil War, can be seen across the harbor. The main channel into Charleston lies nearby, allowing clear views of every ship passing into or out of the harbor. Dolphins play just off shore.

This condo is one of four individually owned units that were originally built as Army Nurse's quarters circa 1910, and are the only vacation rental beachfront condominiums on Sullivan's Island. This unique historic property preserves the charm of the hundred year old structure, but this unit has been renovated and professionally decorated to appeal to today's traveler. The condominium features large front and back screened porches with ceiling fans, rocking chairs, swing, and dining area. The remodeled back porch features a Charleston Bed Swing. Inside, the original hardwood floors give the condominium the feel of an old Southern beach cottage, while providing all modern amenities including flat panel HDTVs (2), stereo with iPod dock, and Wi-Fi. The ground floor location allows easy access with parking only a few steps away. The condo has two bedrooms with the beach-side bedroom having a queen bed, while the rear bedroom has two singles.

Sullivan's Island provides a location that is quiet, uncrowded, with a very relaxed lifestyle. There is not a single traffic light on the island. The island is primarily residential; yet it has several excellent restaurants, post office, library, art gallery, and small grocery store within a mile of the condo. The three mile long island is perfect for exploring by bicycle or golf cart. Public tennis courts and playground are just down the street. One of the beauties of this quiet oceanfront paradise is that it is only a 15 minute drive from historic downtown Charleston and even closer to the shopping and dining areas of Mount Pleasant.

*This is a Saturday-Saturday, weekly only, rental from 5/16/15 to 8/29/15; 3 night minimum in off season. *

About Laura Wall

We are a family of four from Atlanta who have been vacationing in the Charleston area and South Carolina Low Country for many years. We have come to enjoy the Charleston area best of all. We find the combination of Southern Charm, history, shopping, and excellent food compelling. Now that we have an anchor at Sullivan's Island, we are happy to share the beautiful, quiet beach; access to wonderful local restaurants -- especially seafood; friendly locals; historic Ft. Moultrie, Ft. Sumter (viewed from our condo), the beautiful ships coming into Charleston Harbor; and historic, authentic, Charleston!

Laura Wall purchased this condo in 2008

Why Laura Wall chose Charleston Area

We wanted a beachfront location that was free of crowds, quiet and relaxing, yet close to excellent dining and entertainment. We enjoy the history of Charleston from the old rice plantations to the fine pre-revolutionary city homes. Charleston has a grace and charm that few American cities possess. From the performances of the Spoleto Festival, the excellent antique shopping, the tours of historic sites, to the Shrimp boats and fishing charters on Shem Creek, Charleston captivates. Sullivan's Island provides easy access to all this, but seems a world away from the bustle.

What makes this condo unique

This is an extremely relaxing location, beachfront at the Charleston harbor entrance where dolphins play, and you get close up views of all the ships entering the harbor. The island is perfect for bicycle riding, has several excellent restaurants within a mile, and is loaded with history. Outdoor activities abound, from deep sea fishing, to wildlife tours of the salt march, to excellent golf on nearby Isle of Palms.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is our first time in the quaint Sullivan's Island. Your cottage fits in perfectly.

It takes us back in time, growing up, going to the coast of North Carolina. Being here - watching the cargo, cruise, and fishing boats - dolphins, seagulls - makes us long for that time again.

You have truly created such an inviting and well cared for place. The porch swings are such a bonus - the new sheets and comforter - the very adequate kitchen - made us want for nothing.

We wondered as we sat on the swings what so many topics have been discussed over the last 100 years here.

We want to come back when you are available and bring our 92 year old father - this would be perfect.

Our Happy Place

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an amazing great time staying at this beach house. It was perfectly located on the beach and next door to Fort Moultrie.

The sunsets on the beach was the perfect way to relax and unplug with a glass of wine.

I love Sullivan's island. The people we met were kind and gracious.

I highly recommend this unique beach house for a perfect place to unplug.

Perfect In Every Way

  • 5 of 5

This is our second summer on Sullivan's Island (last year we stayed in the unit next door, but kept sneaking peeks at this one because it looked so lovely!) and we couldn't have asked for better accommodations. The AC was gloriously cool, the house was stocked with absolutely everything you could need (including beach toys, which my 3-year-old was very happy about!), the shower was fabulous, the beds were insanely comfortable, there were plenty of towels (both for showers and the beach), and everything was just very good quality—we really felt we were in a property that was incredibly well taken care of, rather than a vacation home where someone had just stashed their random cast-off furnishings! It was a pleasure to spend the week here, and it went far too quickly—we're already planning a third visit next summer!

One small piece of feedback for the cleaners: there was a lot of dust on the surface areas, and a few interior spots in the bathroom (inside the medicine cabinet, inside the wooden storage boxes) could have used an extra going-over, but other than that, the place felt very clean.

Owner's Response: Holly, Thanks so much for taking the time, and writing a great review! It is so good for us to hear the good -- and, to hear about things that could use improvement. It helps us to please you! We look forward to many returns trips from your family. Laura

Happiness are days spent at this Sullivan's Island Beach House

  • 5 of 5

After not having been on a beach vacation in 14 years, we decided to book the Sullivan Island Beach house. It couldn't have been a more perfect choice. We also celebrated our 42nd anniversary here.

From the minute you step through the door, you are surrounded by a peace and calm unlike any other. The house is show-piece decorated. All the furniture is so comfortable and invites you to feel right at home. The special touches are truly unique for a vacation beach rental: coffee for your first mornings there, available beach towels, chairs, books to read while sitting on one of two gorgeous screened-in porches. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beautiful bathroom has an amazing huge shower. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud with the pillows/mattress/wonderful linens. Finally, you will not find a more memorable view of the Charleston harbor and dream of faraway places as you watch the freighters, the boats, as they come in and out of the harbor. Thank you for a trip we will never forget. We highly recommend this property!!!

Sullivan's Beach

  • 5 of 5

The Sullivan Beach house has been one of my favorite stays so far. The house is adorable. It was the perfect size for my family of four with two teenage daughters. The view is phenomenal, we miss that screened in porch and swing! The house has everything you need. The beds and sheets were very comfortable and the shower is great! Best part for us was the proximity to Charleston and other points of interest. It was like having a beach/city vacation all in one.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed Seaglass Serenity! I have two daughters who were teenagers not long ago, and they can be hard to impress! So, it's good to hear that they enjoyed Seaglass Serenity, too. Thanks so much for your lovely review! We hope you can come back soon. Also, we are reserving time slots for 2017 now. However, we will not bill booking deposit until late fall, 2016.

Wonderfully well appointed, perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

There were beautiful fresh flowers to greet us when we arrived. Seaglass Serenity was clean and fresh and very welcoming.

Two couples stayed in this lovely condo. We were there for my 60th birthday and it could not have been a better visit. The space in the living room is larger than seen in the pictures and the seating for four was perfect and particularly comfortable. The air conditioning is great (it hit 100 degrees when we were there) and the beds were wonderfully comfortable to fall into once a full day of relaxing, eating and having the time of our lives was over. The bathroom was well lit and the shower was great - the bath towels supplied were large and luxurious.

We spent a good amount of time sitting on the front porch having breakfast, lunch and dinner or just relaxing and watching the ships go by. One of our party did some small water colors at the large table while the rest of us worked hard at nothing. The two ceiling fans mitigated some of the heat and there was often a lovely breeze. We cooked several times in the kitchen and used the grill as well with great success. There was a coal chimney for quick starting the fire. (One small thing that might be a handy addition to the truly wonderfully supplied kitchen could be some long handled grill tools, fork, tongs and spatula for use on the grill).

My husband enjoyed the close proximity of the fort and took advantage of that to visit it a few times. The location is wonderful for getting into Charleston and Mount Pleasant where you will find everything you need for groceries, wine and other supplies. There's even a Whole Foods for gourmet shopping.

We dined at Page's Okra Grill in Mount Pleasant - well worth the 20 minute wait. And of course Magnolias and Husk in Charleston (make reservations well in advance for both - you won't be disappointed!).

We sat in the chairs with the view of the beach in the morning (just a few folks taking early morning walks - it feels like your own private spot) and in the dark of evening watched as the large ships lights glided by - sometimes passing one another. Magical.

We truly hated to leave what came to feel like our own perfect beach house - I sort of didn't want to leave a glowing review - this condo is already much in demand and we hope to return - but the owners deserve great kudos and recognition for the care they have shown in decorating and maintaining this genuinely great vacation space.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great suggestion! I have ordered the long handled grill tools. They will be waiting, for your next visit. Also, next year, we will send our guests home with a limited addition "baseball" hat, with a great logo of the lighthouse. It was designed by a resident of Sullivan's Island. Your lovely review made my week! We appreciate your generosity in sharing your very positive review. Thank you!! And, I'm so happy that you had a great birthday celebration, with fellow good travelers.
