Lovely home with wrap-around front porch in idyllic location in the town of South Haven. Six short blocks to Dyckman Beach, eight short blocks to North Beach. Pass by the picturesque marina on the easy, four-block walk to downtown South Haven, a downtown filled with delectable restaurants, delightful boutique shops, and an old-fashioned movie theater. Steps to the nationally-renowned Kal Haven Trail, kitty corner from the Optimist Tot Lot Park, and just across Dyckman Bridge to Stanley Memorial Park. A fabulous location!
Description of Home: This home has a nice, open floor plan with a large, eat-in kitchen, spacious dining and living rooms, and powder room on the first floor. There are three generously-sized bedrooms sleeping nine total and a newly-tiled full bath on the second floor. The home has a new roof and the entire exterior and interior have been freshly painted. Relax on the wrap-around front porch or on the private back deck overlooking woods, easily accessed from sliding glass doors in the dining room.
Distance from Some Major Cities: South Haven is just over two hours from Chicago and three hours from Detroit. The town and its amenities provide for a wonderful get-away for families and couples alike. A great vacation at a great price.
Kyle and Debbie,
Our family had a great time in your house. It was wonderful. House is great. We have a lot of lasting moments here.
Thank you and God bless.
We loved the house and the neighborhood. Close to everything. We only stayed for a weekend, but felt very much at home. Loved all the little extras that you usually don't get and the house was very clean. Everyone (even the kids) commented on how much they liked the house. Sitting out on the porch was so relaxing!! First time at the beach in South Haven. We all loved it. The kids said it was better than Silver Beach. Loved Clementines and Shermans Ice cream. Thanks to Kyle and Debbie for a great stay.
This is a nice little house with good amenities and sleeping space. Older, a bit run down, but also updated to some extent and very clean. The owners are responsive and helpful. However, there are a few issues I would bring to the attention of the owners and potential renters.
1. The distance from the beaches is perhaps a little further than implied in the description. You cannot really expect to walk to the beach with your beach stuff from the house. It is a good distance, at least a mile. There is a $9 fee to park at North Beach and pretty full in that area.
2. The shower (upstairs bathroom) is not very effective and needs repair. When set to warm water the water comes out more as a fine spray than a shower. Those with long hair complained a great deal about it.
3. No beach towels at the house so make sure to bring some. Not enough bath towels for everyone either.
4. Lacking in basic cooking items like salt, sugar, etc., so make sure to bring these.
Despite these issues we enjoyed our stay and had no problems. For the price -- the extra fees loom large if you stay only 2 nights as we did -- I give it 3.5 stars.
Very much as described, with easy access to the beach in a beautiful, picturesque area. All the appliances worked, and the house is very roomy.
This really is in a perfect location. There's a park a cross the street and the downtown town area is only a few minute drive away. The beds are a hard and the grill needs to be replaced, but otherwise the house had more to offer than expected and it was cozy. Would stay here again.
We loved the dining area. The table was large enough for our whole family to get around. We also enjoyed the front porch and our walks to town and the park. One of the double bed mattresses needs to be replaced but we had a great stay overall!
The home is exactly as described. Very roomy, well stocked and clean. We've been vacationing in S.W. MI for the past 18 years, but this is our 1st time staying in South Haven. I realize that you can find what you want, if you want to party, you can find it. If you want calm, you can find that too. We prefer calm. The walks to town, going to the movies. Cooking dinner at the house and everyone sitting around the dinning room table and eating dinner together was a real treat. My kids are in their 20's and they enjoyed this vacation very much. The back deck and front porch were so nice to sit and talk. The neighborhood is quiet, yet very close to everything. Eating at Clementine's and watching the sunsets at the light house were memorable.
Wine tasting at the various vineyards and visiting u-pick farms were great. We ate at Crane's restaurant for home style food and The Butler in Saugatuk were very good. Thank you's to Debbie and Kyle for sharing. I hope we can return next year.
Other Activities: fruit picking, shelling
