About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6) .

Sea Watch Cottage, situated at the end of a 1 kilometer private road, is located on a large 2.5 acre property affording spectacular views of the ocean, fishing boats and stunning sunsets. The fishing village of Miminegash is seen from the front deck and yard. It is at the north end of the 'pond' a large body of water over which you can see beautiful sunrises and watch many water fowl. A staircase over the cape leads to the wide red sandy beach and the ocean with the warmest temperatures north of the Carolinas, ideal for swimming and playing in the water. The beach extends for many K. in both directions. The fire pit is situated near the top of the cape so none of the beauty is ever lost during your stay. Walking south one can see the many windmills of West Cape and following the beach to the north brings you to the village of Miminegash, the fishing harbor with boats and a fresh daily supply of seasonal catch such as scallops and lobster. Our cottage is very clean and bright. It has 2 bedrooms one with a full master bath and King size bed and the other right next to the 2nd full bathroom having 2 single beds which can be converted into a King bed. A sofa-bed in the living room allows space for 2 extra people. Upon arriving at the cottage one renter stated, "this was more than I bargained for".

Comfort and Solitude

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was the ideal place to begin the first week of our vacation. The cottage is very clean and well provisioned - we only had to bring our food. The setting is ideal - between the Pond and the Ocean - and we thoroughly enjoyed our long walks along the beach with seldom a soul (or an ATV) in sight. The sunsets are phenomenal and we got some great pictures. The caretakers - Barb and Brian - are very friendly and helpful people and provided us with some of the best scallops we have ever had. We took the opportunity to visit many of the communities in the area and enjoy the local fare but saved lots of time to enjoy the solitude and comfort of the Seawatch Cottage. Hope to be back.

Beach Bliss!

  • 5 of 5

This beachside cottage in rural PEI is even better than the description claims. The photos don't do it justice. It is the perfect home away from home! Corresponding with the property managers was pleasant and easy. We have absolutely nothing bad to say. We would go back again in a heartbeat. Even when the weather on our trip was stormy, it didn't bother us one bit, as hanging out in the cottage is just as fantastic as being out-and-about.

Thanks so much for a wonderful trip!

Can't wait to visit again!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I were lucky enough to experience this cottage 3 times. It's the place we go to regenerate. We absolutely love it, the cottage, and PEI. The cottage has everything you could ever want, or need. You could go to the grocery store and buckle in for a week. Or you could go out on day excursions. It's far enough off the beaten path. It's your very own private Paradise, but it is close enough to all amenities. We ourselves enjoyed long walks on the beach, wine by a fire, fresh lobster. Most of all, all 3 of our teenager daughters loved treasure hunting the shore of the ocean, for hours on end. We can't wait to visit again.

Wonderful, relaxing time away

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in PEI and this cottage had everything we needed for a quiet, relaxing time on the ocean. We were able to spend time walking on the beach, watching the sunrise over the pond and the sunset over the ocean. Everything was as good as described and things were very well maintained and stocked with what we needed. It was also nice to meet the managers and we would be happy to recommend this cottage.

Stoller's from Indiana

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful setting and what seemed to us as arriving at the end of the world! Awesome setting! Cabin very accommodating, clean, and tasteful home decor. Even though our stay was mid-September, their off season had started, the weather was beautiful. We enjoyed the water, beautiful sunsets, and friendly atmosphere of the local communities. A thrill was spending time at the small fishing docks, seeing lobster catches come in. Another highlight was the lighthouse, trail and restaurant at North Cape. We would definitely recommend this VRBO and would return if opportunity avails itself. The setting would be ideal for family with children. Very memorable getaway for us.

About Irene Huber (Manager)

We are a young professional couple from Toronto with 2 young children who fell in love with PEI the first time we visited. We cherish our peaceful time at the cottage which is a haven from our hectic city life.

Irene Huber (Manager) purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Irene Huber (Manager) chose Miminegash

We love nature, cottage living, beach holidays, great food (especially lobster and scallops)! This property has ocean, beautiful sand, stunning sunrises and sunsets, and lots of space with natural forest to explore. It's more than we dreamed of and is always our perfect family getaway.

What makes this cottage unique

A typical day at the cottage for us starts with fresh coffee in the morning while watching the sun rise over the pond and the birds waking to greet the day. Mornings are great for a long walk or play on the beach. In the afternoon, swimming, napping, and making sand castles, followed by a walk to the harbour to meet the fishermen arriving with fresh lobster (early August to early October), or scallops in May/June. These dates are set differently each year.. After cleaning up with a fresh outdoor shower, dinner is made and served at a picnic table by the campfire overlooking the cape. We wait for the final show... an incredible sunset which never disappoints. Then, a good nights sleep, and repeat the next day!

Seawatch Cottage is located at the end of a little travelled cul de sac. It is private and quiet. The beach is easily reached at the edge of the grassy yard and down a staircase. One can play on the beach, find sea glass, walk for miles and even in about 20 minutes to the small fishing village of Miminegash. Here you can watch the fishing boats come and go and buy fresh seafood from the fishermen when in season. Our caretakers are fishermen and sometimes will bring fresh lobster or scallops right to the door at a great price. They are also a great source of information and always ready to help if there is a need. It is an easy drive to the 3 small villages in the area, the Potato Museum, 2 lighthouses and their wonderful dinning facilities. The cottage has a good supply of brochures to aide you in finding things to see and do.
