About Anita

After visiting the Crystal Coast for several years we purchased this property in 1997 to be close to our favorite locations; Beaufort, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach, and for immediate access to Bogue Sound for the great fishing and water sports. We love to travel and this boating neighborhood reminds us of some water communities in Europe. We enjoy family reunions here and some family guests travel from as far as the UK and Netherlands to take advantage of the peaceful waterfront setting. We joined VRBO for the first time in the summer of 09 and have enjoyed sharing our vacation home with other guests. We love to hear about their varied activities, and have even learned about some great attractions that we had overlooked, such as parasailing and horseback riding on the beach. We enjoy boat trips to Cape Lookout, Shackleford Island and other nearby sandbank islands for picnics on the boat, followed by swimming, shelling and sun bathing. We also travel by boat to the nearby waterfront shops and restaurants, and love the many street fairs and the live music on the waterfront. Cycling along the waterview roads to the local store for the morning paper is a great way to start the day and we like to kayak from our boat dock to cruise up and down Bogue Sound, enjoying the sunsets, bird life and waving to the boats passing. We often see dolfin while in the kayaks or traveling in the boat. The cottage is suitable for young children, teenagers and adults. We love sharing this home with our guests and hope they will enjoy all the extra conveniences we have included to make this their own vacation home away from home.

Why Anita chose Newport

We believe this is one of the best locations on the North Carolina coast, ideal for boating, sailing and fishing, close to the beautiful beaches and close to 'rainy day' activities such as movies and waterfront shopping. Jet skiing, kite surfing and wind surfing are also popular water sports. Parasailing and horseback riding on the beach are also available.

The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful while still being close to all the shops and points of interest.

What makes this house unique

Enjoy the benefits of have the boat docked in the back yard for fishing trips, cocktails on the boat, spontaneous picnics or to travel to the many waterside restaurants nearby. We also enjoy meals on the lawn by the water under the shade of a large tree, or on the sheltered brick patio. We enjoy the immediate access to Bogue Sound from the boat dock to kayak on the the waterways and enjoy the views.

Amazing home!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been coming to the Morehead City area for 15+ years. We love the small fishing town feel and this home is an extension of that. The home was very clean, stocked very well, and easy access to main roads to get you around the coast. The private dock was a great to sit in the evening and fish...nothing large caught but we knew that. It was still fun to relax. I definitely recommend this home and we will be back!

A charming cottage near the sea

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay at Surrey Cottage. A charming home with plenty of room , lovely coastal decor , and comfortable sleeping and lounging areas for me and my elderly mother and my brother and his wife. Enjoyed the nearby beaches and towns, especially Fort Macon Beach and old down town area on the water in Beaufort, NC . I hope I can come back again.

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was clean and everything was readily available. Anita was great to work with! We had a great week going to Atlantic Beach, Ft. Macon Beach (great rinse off showers and wonderful shelling...parking is free there), NC Aquarium, and the many other cool places around the area. We all slept great and loved fishing off the dock! We caught two crabs in the pot our first night there and everyone caught a few fish. The cottage is in a great location and just a short drive from everything we wanted to do. Southern Salt ended up being our favorite restaraunt and we loved eating by the water.

Awesome place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Walking in you felt like you were home. We had 7 of us total staying and had plenty of room. The house was equipped with plenty of towels beds made with fresh linen. The dock was perfect for our 21 foot boat. Easy canal access to bring in your boat and easy access to the bogue sound. Not far from down down morehead city and Beaufort. The Jelly's were awesome to deal with. I have rented several homes through out the coast of North Carolina and Florida keys.m this was the best experience I have had. Thank you for a great trip.
