|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
This beautiful, contemporary home has recently been completely redecorated and newly furnished with lovingly selected antique and modern furniture.
It offers plenty of space for 2 families or 3 couples and has various areas to entertain or relax. The house has a new gourmet kitchen and a bright, open dining area with a wood burning stove and stunning views over the garden.
There are 6 bedrooms (1 large king bedroom with balcony and en suite bathroom, 1 queen bedroom with balcony, 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds and a loft and 3 charming twin bedrooms), 3.5 bathrooms, 1 family room with satellite TV, 1 additional TV room, 1 office and a finished basement with ping pong table.
The screened-in porch with wooden patio furniture and gas grill, overlooking the completely private grounds, is wonderful for al fresco dining and entertaining. A stunning, fenced-in 50+ ft. long pool is great for exercise and summer fun alike.
The garden has lots of space for ball games and offers all kinds of edible surprises, from blueberries to apples, cherries and various herbs.
If you would like to spend your evenings listening to the Boston Symphony in Tanglewood, watching a play at Shakespeare and Company or a dance performance at Jacob’s Pillow, all these attractions are within 30 minutes driving distance.
Great Barrington with its excellent shopping and dining is 15 minutes away, and New Marlborough itself offers wonderful dining and spa experiences. There is an abundance of outdoor activities for all seasons and it only takes minutes to get to hiking trails, rivers for rafting and kayaking and several lakes.
If you like winter sports, the house is less than 15 minutes from Butternut ski area and opportunities for cross country skiing are plentiful.
This house has everything to ensure a relaxing and memorable holiday experience for any time of the year.
The southern Berkshires have something to offer for everyone. We love to explore the beautiful countryside, go for a hike, swim and picnic in summer and ski, or go tubing and sledding in winter. The museums are world class, as are the music, ballet and theater festivals. The food scene is fantastic and the local produce plentiful and delicious. It's a great holiday location, a beautiful place to get away to for a weekend, a month or an entire season.
We love this house and it feels like a holiday every time we are there. It is spacious and even with a large family, there's plenty of room to spread out. The house is bright and airy, with the wonderful screen porch in the summer, so much space outside and all the privacy you need. The pool is warm enough to swim in early June and is beautiful and fun. We play ball games outside, ping pong in the basement and explore the surrounding woods. The winter's are great and the house is so cozy, with it's wood burning stove, comfortable sofas, large selection of DVD's and games. The kids go sledding in the yard and build snowmen, or all of us go skiing at Butternut. It's a lovely place for a break at any time of the year.
Going on vacation with 3 kids under the age of 6 can be tough- but this house made it possible to relax and have a great time. We'd swim while the babies took naps, play lawn games in the yard and then BBQ and make s'mores at night. They had a ton of movies for kids on hand as well as a good number of books, toys and game equipment in the basement. Here were our favorite activities if you have young ones:
1.) Head around the corner to Cantina 229 and have tacos outside and let the kids see the farm animals.
2.) Great Barrington: Have dinner (and play ping pong) at the Prairie Whale and then go to Soco Creamery for dessert. On Friday afternoons, you can take the kids to the Mount for free jazz (and running around) or just go to the Giggle Park playground in GB and let them dance around to the free jazz in the park there.
3.) Jacob's Pillow- the kids really liked the free inside/out performance
4.) The Hancock Shaker Village had a ton of activities for kids and is just a pretty setting to run around
5.) The Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield had lots of interactive exhibits- including dinosaur costumes.
If you need a rental with a little bit of separation (for two families, in-laws or sleeping babies)- this place is perfect!
This house was a fantastic getaway for our family. It has rooms everywhere, and charm such as a wood burning stove, stained glass doors, and incredible wood detailing. An updated kitchen and plenty of bath towels, as well as wifi and satellite tv made it an enjoyable and easy two week stay. The location was a bit further south than we normally stay in the Berkshires, but we discovered the delicious coffee of the nearby Southfield Store and hiked a very kid-friendly hike at Campbell Falls in northern CT, and Great Barrington was a short and incredibly scenic drive away. Truly a wonderful escape, including a beautiful lap pool and lots of interesting landscaping (blueberry bushes, pear and plum trees and more). The owners were lovely to deal with and answered any questions promptly.
We have stayed at the house twice before and it has always been wonderful. Will be back in the future.
Our family stayed in this home for a weekend and wish we were there longer. The house is surprisingly large once inside, the layout is perfect for a large family to spread out with two TV/sitting rooms and plenty of bedrooms and it is very kid friendly, has a very clean basement with toys and things for kids to play with. The pool was perfect to have as it got pretty warm during out visit. The eating areas are large with a beautiful screened in porch. All the amenities you could possibly need and the owners are very considerate and provide all the information you need for your stay. Look no further you've found your house in the woods!
This place is a rare gem -- a beautiful home on large piece of property with a swimming pool, all the amenities you can ask for and tastefully furnished interior with lots of space to spread out. It's gorgeous, comfortable and can easily fits two families -- it's perfect for young children. The owners are lovely and make sure you have everything you need - wifi, nice bedding, cookware, towels. It's a peaceful, bucolic setting, yet close to the town of Great Barrington with it's top restaurants and cultural attractions. Basically, this property has EVERYTHING you could ask for. We plan to come back again and again with our family. My only hesitation in giving it a glowing review is that it will be booked the next time we want to stay here.
