|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
The Stone House sets into the side of a hill directly on pristine Star Lake. The house front is a covered terrace directly on the lake. This is a tranquil spot, located on a 40+ acre private wooded point of land over a quarter mile from the main road, where you can relax and get away from it all.
Summers are fantastic. Autumn is beautiful in the Adirondacks. Consider staying for a long weekend, or splurge for an entire week. Enjoy our terrace, the lake, the trees, and our inviting fireplace.
The Stone House property features a private dock with a tied-on floating dock, a fireplace, a car park, a terrace, and a private garage. The Stone House sleeps up to nine, has two full baths, a complete kitchen, living room with a large window seat and warming stone fireplace (stocked from a private wood shed just outside the house), and a private, covered terrace overlooking the lake. Enjoy the quiet, the ducks, the loons, the smell of a good fire.
Kayaking & canoeing on Star Lake & Oswegatchie River; local hiking too.
Abbie and Rich are your hosts. Abbie grew up in Syracuse, Rich in Boston. We are dedicated to ensuring your stay is wonderful and memorable.
Rich Maggiani purchased this cottage in 1998
The Stone House sits on a 45 acre private point of land. The entire property has been in Abbie's extended family for 100 years. We have owned the Stone House for 15 years, and welcome you to our home in the Adirondacks. We stock the house with basic necessities—condiments, kitchen staples, herbs and spices, paper products, fire wood, and more—to make your stay simpler. The kitchen is fully stocked with a wide array of pots and pans and kitchen utensils. Barbecue on our traditional grill; natural wood briquettes and liter fluid provided. Linens and towels are included in our rates. And a beautiful fireplace in the living room.
The Stone House is immediately on Star Lake with a private covered stone terrace and private dock. Staying here gives you a complete break from your day to day lives, a wonderful place to relax, enjoy, and regenerate. Guests tell us they most enjoy the absolute quiet of a daybreak, with the sun rising and reflecting on the smooth-as-glass lake. Enjoy swimming in the lake or just lounging on the dock and terrace; take our kayaks and paddle board out for a spin and be sure to stop at the slightly submerged sand bar just across the way. As we say, a quiet respite.
We loved our stay in this rustic but more than well equipped house. We loved the kayaks, paddle board and sleeping on the screened in porch, waking to the jumping fish. We were able to prepare all our meals-from crab legs in the large pot, steaks on the grill and mornin bacon in the cast iron pans. The lake was beautiful and clean. It is located in a cove area. The home is located directly on the water, so not a lot of room for games on the lawn if that's your thing. We enjoyed laying on the deck and fishing. My dog loved swimming off the shore too. Thanks to Rich and Abby for making us feel like we were staying at a friends. The only things you need to bring are food and beach towels.
The Stone House is a beautiful and authentic Adirondack cabin that is on a fantastic piece of property on Star Lake. Rich has seen to every detail and even provided a comprehensive handbook over email that had lots of great info about the property and area.
While the house is rustic, the bathrooms are clean and the shower is stellar. The beds were comfortable and the sleeping porch was an experience for my friends on a chilly October night. The water and shoreline are perfect for swimming off the dock and it drops down to over 6 feet rather quickly.
Overall I would definitely recommend the Stone House and I hope to return soon.
We have two kayaks and a paddle board for your use on Star Lake. Local rivers, especially the Oswegatchie, are great for canoeing. And, of course, you can paddle all around Star Lake—it's right outside your front door!
