It's hard to beat having breakfast on the balcony in the morning watching the beach wake up; or enjoy whale and sunset watching in the evening! (There were sliding doors onto the balcony from the living room and also the master suite.) Walk downstairs and out the back door onto the beach (where there are umbrellas available) or use the very comfortable loungers and chairs around the pool.
Dozens of restaurants are within easy walking distance, many right on the beach so you can have supper with your toes in the sand (the adjacent restaurants will also serve you meals or snacks on the beach or at the pool); and the condo kitchen was the best equipped I've ever experienced. Plenty of dishes, cookware, appliances - and it all worked! Mixer, toaster, blender, grinder, strainers. I honestly didn't lack for anything in the kitchen.
The furniture was all comfortable, particularly the beds. We were in a 3 bedroom unit with a king bed, a queen bed and 2 twins. There were plenty of soft, fluffy towels. The master bedroom had a large sitting area with sofa and the bath had a huge tub/shower; the second bath was a shower only. All the plumbing worked well, no sewer odor, and there was plenty of water pressure and hot water! (In our experience this is not always the case in Mexico.)
We didn't see a single indoor bug the whole 2 weeks we were there (also rather unusual in a tropical area) but we also didn't notice any "exterminator smell" which can sometimes be worse than the ants!
Some of the cabinets and drawers could use adjustment, but this was certainly not a major issue for us. The decor is quite nice - the condo is full of regional art. There were what I call "bonuses" in the unit: irons, ironing board, a stroller, hair driers, a basic stock of seasonings/spices and beach items: toys, boards, hats and chairs.
Minor discrepancies from the listing: there was no DVD player in the condo and the only internet available is from nearby restaurants. It's true that you can get a signal by the pool, but you have to get the passwords from the businesses.
The location is just perfect for enjoying all the activities on the beach, the malecon, and the square in front of the building where various events take place including a market every Saturday. We could walk just about anywhere we wanted to go - for a longer trip (to the zoo or botanical garden, e.g.) buses are nearby and there were always taxis in front.
We had a great 2 weeks!
We take an almost-yearly trip to PV, but this was our first time at Plaza Dorada. The condos are in a fantastic location, right on the beach, and with a lovely beachfront pool as well. The condo we stayed in was very nice, appointed with lots of Mexican touches, and very comfortable. The view from the balconies cannot be beat! While we were there, we enjoyed perfect weather, with a couple of AMAZING evening storms that we were able to watch from our balcony. We have added Plaza Dorada to the long list of things we LOVE about PV!
We just returned from another wonderful vacation in Vallarta. We rented this unit as it is in a perfect location on the beach . It is very close to everything that anyone might want. Sadly the unit is in need of a refreshing. We understand that this is an older building..and the building is great,as is the building staff, but the unit is very very tired. Some cupboard doors are on crooked thus do not close properly some are missing screws so are sort of just propped shut. The bedding was fine but many of the towels, you could almost see through. The decorative things on the balcony were once probably lovely but now are half missing or broken. There is no remote for the TV.The entire unit needs an update. I think the sofa has been recovered but the drapes no longer match the sofa or the bedding. The bathroom fixtures are pitted and sort of sad. We did not rent this unit thinking it was a 5 star..but did not expect it to be a 2 star or less.
I also think renters should know that even though the pool is really nice the sun only gets to the very shallow part in the late afternoon and never to the part you swim in.
I feel sort of bad posting this as we had a great vacation but we were disappointed in the unit.
