Description

Agaete House Rental Photos and Description

cottage with garden, palm tree, near to the beach at the west coast, max.2adults

Only 2km from the beach, above the village of El Risco (Agaete territory), Casa La Pintora, "the painters house" offers its studio-like accommodation for 2 guests.

A queen-size bed (1,50x2,00m), CD stereo unit, WiFi, DSL Internet by cable and a little SatTV (Astra) are awaiting you. The convertible sofa can be used as an additional bed for a child.

The Canary Islands artist Ana Luisa Benítez restored the little cottage in traditional style for her painting excursions in the nature park.

A resting place below a palm tree and a nice enclosed garden a few steps upwards are places for dreaming and relaxing. The view to the surrounding Tamadaba mountains invites for hiking. A spectacular star filled sky glitters at new moon nights.

At low tide on calm days you will be surprised by a wide sandbank and a shallow beach down on the coast, 5 minutes by car and a little walk away. Even in summer an insider´s tip.

Only 150 meters above sea level und protected from the trade winds and clouds by the mountains of the biosphere reserve, El Risco provides one of the best microclimates of Gran Canaria.

Cafe-bar-restaurant and a traditional corner´s shop are a walk away down in the village. In the old town of Agaete and its fishing port, 15km away, you will find supermarket, shops, cash machine and more restaurants.

Why Jürgen Richter chose Gran Canaria

The microclimate of Gran Canaria is rather pronounced. The valley of El Risco on the west coast is protected by the mountains of the Tamadaba Natural Park from the trade winds in winter times and provides one of the best locations on the island.

Casa La Pintora is a offically registerd holiday home in the "Vivienda turistica" category.

What makes this house unique

Restoring this cottage the Canary Islands artist Ana Luisa Benítez adhered stylistically confident to the elements of traditional canarian architecture: Natural stone, old wooden beams, an inside cane covered roof.

The house seems to hide inside the magnificent environment and radiates warmth and harmony in its straightforwardness.

The enclosed garden, surrounded by palm trees, opens the view to the hiking destinations and hilltops of the Tamadaba Nature Park.

The breakfast place beyond our own palm tree looks as though painted in the landscape.

we had a great stay in this very nice and very quiet surrounding. The house has everything one needs and great outdoor terrasses to relax and enjoy the vie to the mountains.

  • 3 of 5

Sehr freundlicher Vermieter.

Rustikaler Urlaub in uriger Umgebung, weit weg vom Massentourismus

  • 4 of 5

Herrliche Ruhe, atemberaubende Landschaft.

Last but not least: ein guter Ausgangspunkt für viele Wanderungen.

  • 5 of 5

Car: recommended

Right on the doorstep of Casa La Pintora there are starting soft trips, easy or challenging hikes.

The Kompass hiking map Gran Canaria is a good companion, for hiking tours combined with a rented car as well, nearby or in the central part of the island.

In the Bar Perdomo during the week you will enjoy among locals the goat cheese and other Canary Islands specialities. Fresh bread you buy there every morning. In the old corners shop you may supplement your daily needs. On sundays as well.

Numerous restaurants you will find on the harbor promenade of Puerto de las Nieves, 15 km away nearby Agaete, where you could take a ferry to the neighboring island of Tenerife. In Agaete, right hand on the road down to the harbor, you will find the nearest, well-assorted supermarket (Spar).

Lidl and the recommendable Mercadona are located beside the highway, taking the first exit after Agaete.

A little bit further away, in Galdar, you could enjoy a city walk and visit the market hall (workdays till 13:00 h). My insider tip: The art museum Casa-Museo Antonio Padron with outstanding expressionistic paintings in an old townhouse close to the cathedral.

(tuesday-sunday 10-18:00h).

If you are interested in the life of the legendary early Canarians, the Guanches, you shouldn´t miss to enter the museum and cave paintings of Cueva Pintada in Galdar.

The aborigines settled on the beachside, in the caves and on the magic hilltops above the valley of El Risco as well - 600 years ago.
