About the property

Mas le Clos du Prieur

Mas le Clos du Prieurs is a lovely restored 250 year old farmhouse that is situated in the heart of the Provence at the foot of the Alpilles hills. It´s location makes it easy to reach many places of interest: Avignon, Arles, Nimes, Aix-en-Provence, Camargue, Les Beaux, Saint Remy de Provence and the little beautiful villages of Luberon.

Mas le Clos du Prieur sits in two acres of enclosed garden filled with scented Mediterranean plants and a shady century-old sycamore tree. It is surrounded by lush countryside fields where bulls and horses graze. Tastefully and authentically restored, this ravishing and romantic 250 year old house offers peace, joy of living and relaxation in an inviting atmosphere and a magical provencal setting. The Mas le Clos du Prieur will seduce you by the harmony between the well preserved architecture of the building and the comfort and beauty of the inside. The apartments offer an opportunity to savour the art of living 'á la provencal'. The romantic garden encloses a swimming pool with a flowered south facing courtyard. Individual terraces in front of each apartment will delight guests who love authenticity and tranquillity surrounded by the delightful songs of crickets.

Mas le Clos du Prieurs means “farm for prayers” and has been connected to the near monastery “Les Dames Blanches” in Móllèges. In the beginning monks found housing and silence here occasionally, until the house and its properties were used for agriculture.

The house with it´s rebuilt barns and over 250 year old rare well lies embedded into an extensive 8.000 qm2 big grounds.

All apartments are equipped with kitchen or kitchenette, refrigerator, gas stove and have a spacious bathroom with shower.

All apartments provide english satellite-TV (Astra), Internet access ( WLAN ) and direct access to the garden of the house. Garden furniture and a BBQ are available to you. In colder seasons, a central gas heating system provides cozy residential-comfort.

You sleep in Queen or King size beds depending of the apartment, either on a loft or in separate bedrooms. Extra beds, cribs and high chairs are available. The parking area is on the property. It is secured with a remote controlled gate.

A Provençal Dream

  • 4 of 5

Down fertile country lanes in the Alpilles one winds down to big brown gates that swing open to reveal an oasis of Provençale hospitality. Around a spectacular plane tree with a long low Mas with five rental apartments on one side, the land is relieved by herbal topiary and a massive green lawn with an ornamental swimming pool outlined by tall poplars dipping in the summer wind. Bernd, the host, escorted us to the Monte Cristo, a delightful four bed apartment with its own practical and spacious corner kitchen. Our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, yes dogs are more than welcome, charged in full of the joys of spring to inspect our elegantly decorated quarters for the following two months. The property has a wonderfully friendly atmosphere generated by our host whereby all residents seemed to hold an ongoing party every evening. Yes, I loved cooking for the guests several times while the work of laying out the table, contributing bottles of wine besides the resident appellation cuvée and the clearing up was shared by all. So ensued a wealth of cool end of summer evenings and wonderfully warm days until finally, all other guests came and went like homing pigeons to hibernate during the freezing European winter and we moved to La Provençale, the deluxe one bedroom apartment, to spend six months taking care of this idyllic property while Bernd flew off to warm winter places to return in the milder spring. I highly recommend the Mas Le Clos du Prieur for a holiday, open from Easter to summers end in October, to enjoy the charm of the property and relaxed quality of life it has to offer. Vive le Mas Le Clos du Prieur !

Super erholsam!

  • 5 of 5

Provence Pur

  • 5 of 5

wunderschönes Mas in idyllischer Umgebung

  • 5 of 5
