Beautifully restored 1850`s Farmhouse on 65 acres with magnificent mountain views. The land is great for sledding and snow shoeing.
The house is approximately 2,500 square feet- with a large living/dining room, screened in porch and radiant heated floors in the living room & towel warmers in the bathrooms & high-speed wireless internet throughout the house. We have 4 bedrooms although one bedroom is setup as an office with a very comfortable pull out couch for sleeping. One of the rooms upstairs is great for kids with a trundle bed (2 twin beds).
Main Floor: Bedroom #1: Large room with queen bed (North/East Exposure) Bathroom with shower & washer/dryer, full kitchen w/ Microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher, new cabinets with soap stone counter tops and a 4 stool bar for eating. Dining room (table seats 8) w/ south facing mountain views, living room with wood burning fireplace (new model with glass doors that expose the flame for viewing) and radiant heated floors- very large room.
Upstairs: 2 full bedrooms (one with a queen bed and gorgeous views ( a room within a room with an office). Other bedroom has the trundle beds (mentioned above) and third bedroom upstairs is setup as an office but has an expensive pull out couch for sleeping extra people .This room is really pleasant with large windows with gorgeous mountain southern facing views. The house has tons of light.
New Addition- Basement;
The word basement does not do this new family room/play area justice. It has 4 large windows facing south and west (that has mountain views). It is not your typical basement. The floors are radiant heated- and the furnishings are minimal so that kids can run around while the adults sit in the living room upstairs enjoying adult conversation and a lovely fire. The family room has a sleeper unit- and a bathroom so is great for sleeping an adult couple or a nanny.
My husband and I just returned from 4 wonderful days here! There wasn't a single thing we didn't love about the home and the property!
We were able to spend a good part of our time walking around the property and sightseeing. The pond is one of my favorites things the property has to offer..It allowed us a wonderful place to swim (and one of our dogs enjoyed that, too) or a quiet place to sit and relax on the dock (which was great for watching the frogs and occasional salamanders to swim by). The grill and outdoor table were perfect for us to make and have dinner every night, while still enjoying the beauty of the property! Very quiet and extremely beautiful!
The farmhouse was perfect...plenty of space, complete with everything one may need, and very cozy and clean. We enjoyed ending each day on the sofa, reading a book, or playing a board game.
This house was also perfectly located...you are only about 10 minutes away from anything you may want to see or do! We were able to enjoy hikes along the Catskill trails, see amazing waterfalls, go antiquing, and so much more. Many restaurants and shops around, too!
I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to stay here during the winter months, as the house is situated between 3 ski resorts!
I would recommend this fabulous home to anyone looking to experience and appreciate the true beauty of the Catskills!
We had a wonderful time and loved the beautiful and tranquil grounds.
Here are 3 things that need to be taken care of:
1) The pond needs to cleaned of leeches, or you'll be plucking the bloodsuckers off your children as I was.
2) I've come to expect, like most of the civilized world, locks on bathroom doors. Call me old-fashioned!
3) Payment system was a real headache. I had to dispute the security deposit charge because I didn't receive or hear anything back from the owner after my stay. That needs to be made smoother.
Otherwise, we really enjoyed everything.
Me and my 7 friends stayed at this gorgeous farm house in late January 2014. The house was charming and very well furnished with everything that we would need for our weekend stay.
The property surrounding the house is very beautiful overlooking the mountains. The owner was very responsive via email and provided us with excellent and detailed information about the property as well as stuff to do in the area.
We had a excellent time there and hopefully can get a trip together soon, to visit it again
I just came back from a ski weekend up at Windham Mountain and this property was great. We had 7 people stay at the house and there was plenty of room. The mountain is only 6.5 miles away and worked well for local activity at and around the mountain. The house is very nice and has all of the necessary amenities for cooking, relaxing and getting together with friends. I would recommend this house for a family trip, groups of couples and a weekend away for skiing for friends. The owner is very freindly and was helpful with simple items around the house and in the local area. The woodburning stove is a nice touch and keeps the downstairs nice and warm when you come in from a day of skiing. the soaking tub upstairs is also great for after a long day of skiing.
Everything was as described.
We absolutely enjoyed our weekend away at the farmhouse! The owner was a pleasure to deal with.
Loved the peaceful setting and proximity to other attractions(restaurants, shopping, trails)
Would definitely visit again.
This is a spacious, lovingly restored and very comfortable house on beautiful property. It's close to great hiking and biking (and skiing--although we came in late summer), and there are rolling hills, pretty woods and a swimmable pond right behind the house, where you can read and relax in peace and quiet for hours. The kitchen is large and well equipped for cooking just about anything, the bedrooms are really comfortable and the roomy living room would be great for a gathering of friends. A great place for a summer or winter vacation. The owners also are very accommodating. Our vacation week, as it turned out, fell right after Hurricane Irene devastated much of the Catskills (although not this house). We ended up coming a day later than planned while assessing conditions, and the owner kindly refunded one day's rent!
Other Activities: Snow Shoeing
Ski: Windham is just 7 minutes away and Hunter is 10.
