An Exquisite arts and crafts designer built cottage, just up from Camden Maine's famed Laite Beach. Camden rests at the foothills of Mount Battie and is one of the most beautiful harbors in Maine. The windjammers set sail several times a day and it is a buzz of activity all summer long, filled with great shopping experiences and wonderful restaurants at every turn. The Camden Opera House has several fantastic events with live entertainment from Rock and Roll to Classical Music and live Theatre.
'Stone's Throw' is the guesthouse to Boulder Cottage which is a fabulous pink turn of the century victorian, ergo the name Stone's Throw.
It's also just a stone's throw to town!
Josh was very accommodating and his cottage has a lot of charm. You're a few blocks from all that Downtown Camden has to offer. A tranquil retreat and wonderful location. We happen to be in town during the "Windjammer Festival" so there were endless activities popping up throughout town. We would definitely recommend this place to others.
Josh's cottage is a beautiful example of what you can find if the pictures, the owner, and the description are accurate. The decor is exquisite; the advice and hospitality provided by Josh was personalized and thoughtful; and Camden is just a delightful walk away. Highly recommend.
The cottage location was convenient, a short walk to a public park and beach, and close to everything in Camden. Our host, Joshua, met us upon arrival and was very friendly with a great sense of humor. The 1-bedroom apartment was very clean and contemporary, with easy parking close to the entrance, and the washer and dryer were especially helpful. The kitchen had all modern appliances, the marble bathroom was large, and there were more then enough closets for storage. We also enjoyed using the fireplace and appreciated the thought that went into the artwork and décor. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 4-day Autumn visit to Camden and were glad to have such a comfortable place to call home during our stay.
-amazing place to stay
-renovated with high quality materials and style
-lots of great windows for wonderful light and air flow
-the bed was very comfortable, with coverings from a wonderful Maine Mill
-the cottage was spotlessly clean
-there is enough separation between the guest cottage and the main house that you feel a good sense of privacy.
-easy and pleasant walk to downtown restaurants and activities
-about 1 block away is a small, completely uncrowded cove beach and park that allowed for a fun swim
-I have stayed in many VRBO homes over the last 15 years, and this one has been one of the all time best
Stone's Throw in Camden was more than we imagined. The cottage had everything you could ever need. We stayed for two weeks and felt at home. The kitchen is very well furnished if you decide to cook (but who would want to with all of the wonderful restaurants nearby). The washer and dryer were very well used. We walked to town everyday and traveled by car to outlying areas. There is so much to see in the Camden area. We will be back.
We stayed at the Stone’s Throw Cottage for four days while celebrating our anniversary. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway. The natural and architectural beauty of the property cannot be measured. Stone’s Throw is the perfect blend of simplicity and elegance. While the photos and the description are accurate, what you find once you get there is that there’s so much more to the property. The cottage is nestled into the edge of the woods which provides a sense of privacy for guests in the cottage. The soft fragrant smells of the flowers and spruce trees surrounding the cottage will have your senses reeling. In the evenings, we opened the windows to let the cool air in; and even though it was dark outside and the living room was gently lit (lights are on dimmers, by the way!) our privacy was protected by the forest. It felt like home for us. The interior of the cottage is immaculate and beautifully decorated, right down to the linens. Josh is a wonderful host; and as it turns out he’s a handy guy to have around when you’re in a pinch. While we were talking with Josh outside the cottage, I discovered that we were late for a sailing charter. Josh graciously insisted that we jump into his truck and he’d “get us to the church on time”… and he did! We were at the dock in only a couple of minutes. Thanks again, Josh!
If you’re looking for something cozy and private, yet close enough to walk to town, then this is the place to stay. From the cottage, you can walk to the ocean in less than 5 minutes…. You’ll be in the heart of Camden in 10. Parking in town can sometimes be a little difficult. There are a lot of folks who drive in to Camden for the day to see the sights, so having everything you need within walking distance from the cottage is a blessing. A grocery store and a pharmacy in town will have everything you need to provision your pantry during your stay, don’t worry. Restaurants, shops, sailing… everything’s just a “Stone’s Throw” away! (you see what I did there?) If you’re into hiking, bring your gear. Camden Hills State Park is about 2.5 miles north from the cottage and has 30 miles of hiking trails through some of the most beautiful wilderness you’ll ever see.
Not only do we recommend staying at Stone’s Throw, I can assure you… we’ll be back (hopefully) soon!
