It's time to start making Summer and Fall Travel Plans for your getaway in 2017! This wonderful mountain chalet is hidden away on a private country no thoroughfare road in the small community of Viola. This area is equally as pristine as Tahoe, without the crowds and high rates. There is easy access to the North Entrance of Mt Lassen Park from the cottage, just about 8 minutes and you're there. We are fortunate to have very few neighbors which are mostly summer cabins, you can rest assured that you will have privacy and this is NOT IN A SUBDIVISION. There are many miles of trails to explore, right out the front door. We keep our calender current daily and offer this cottage from Memorial Day through Oct 31st. We are now taking reservations for the upcoming 2017 Season. This is our 9th season for rental and we would like to thank all of our visitors from around the world for making it possible for us to share the cottage.

This home is approximately 1850' total, newer construction (completed in the winter of 2007), 2 story, with 2 bedrooms downstairs and full bath with jacuzzi tub and shower, full kitchen (all new appliances and everything you will need to prepare any size meal) a, dining area and living room, plus 600' sleeping loft and den with 3 additional beds, quiet sitting area and 1/2 bath plus small deck with view of yard and the year round creek. So plenty of room to spread out. This is the perfect setup for 2 -10 guests.

There is also a large deck in front, back and side of cottage, a total of about 700 sq ft of decking which overlooks yards and creek., with a nice lawn out in the front yard.

Listed in Frommers Top Destinations to Visit - Lassen National Volcanic Park. Just under 4 hours from SF Bay Area and under 3 hours from Sacramento.

You will not be disappointed with this unique opportunity to stay at our mountain chalet.

There are many lakes, waterfalls and hiking trails very close by. Fishing is popular in this area with the The Famous Hat Creek just 20 minutes away. We have a year round creek in the back yard with small native trout and a fishing pond just down the lane. There is a campfire pit & small deck set up by the creek for family campfires and cooking. Campfires are only allowed if weather and conditions are suitable.

Other things to do in the area close by would include: Wineries, Subway Caves, Burney Falls, Fall River Golf Resort, Mt. Shasta Ski & Board Park, Lake Britton, Sundial Bridge. If you prefer to stay close to the house, there is an entire Private Forest Land right out the front door for hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding etc. Expect to see wildlife such as squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and deer. A relaxing massage can be arranged by appointment. The sound of the creek will put you into a pleasant nights rest.

We are located at 4500' elevation with comfortable days and nights during the summer and fall. The snow comes usually in December and stays through March or April. The winter activities would include: snowmobiling, snowboarding, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, tubing.

Bring the family or just get away for a romantic adventure.

Peaceful Place in Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this cottage. It is one of the most well managed properties we've booked. If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen has just about everything you could need (even a microplane!). Everything was in great shape and the place was spotless. The neighbors are friendly, the neighborhood is peaceful and lovely, and you are minutes away from the Manzanita Lake entrance to Lassen (which is now in the running for one of my favorite national parks!). If the road through the park is closed (as it was due to snow during our stay), know that it takes about 90 minutes to get to the other park entrance, but it's a pretty drive through the country. We can't wait to return to the cottage and explore more of the park! Oh, and as others have mentioned, coming in the door to the smell of freshly baked bread is pretty much heaven.

Relaxing Get-Away

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at your cottage. It's very cute and comfortable. It was nice to have such a well equipped home, having everything we needed. We were a little bummed that there wasn't a fireplace or wood burning stove. Surprising for a mountain home, but I guess I missed that in the details.

We really enjoyed sitting on the deck (in between the rain) and listening to Bailey Creek. The smell of the rain in the woods is amazing!!

Thank you for the fresh baked bread! Really nice touch!

What a lovely place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late to this beautifully appointed cabin home to find the cabin already heated and freshly baked bread with butter and jam waiting for us! The owners obviously take great pride in making this a warm, inviting place to stay and it shows in all the thoughtful details in this vacation home. The cabin is decorated with mountain decor throughout, there is a large fridge, plenty of linens and ice already in the freezer. There is a great selection of movies and books, games and magazines with plenty of cozy spots to curl up and enjoy them in and the large jacuzzi tub is heavenly. Really enjoyed our vacation here!

Wonderful cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This was a very comfortable and roomy cabin in the woods, complete with warm, fresh baked bread when we walked in the door. The kitchen is well-stocked and the beds comfortable. The outdoor areas looked inviting, but it was a bit too cold to use them when we were there. we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Great cabin, great hosts, great location

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful experience. Thank you Rebecca!

Cabin has everything, even spices and condiments for cooking. Lovingly (and tastefully) furnished.

Just a few minutes from Lassen and Shingletown, great location.

Rebecca and Bob were such gracious hosts... and instantly responded to inquiries. Thank you!!!

Nice, quiet place with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

It was a nice place, and the dogs and I really enjoyed being able to walk across the street and walk for miles on the forest service roads. They also liked cooling off in the stream out back afterward. Thanks!
