Why Owner chose Glen Cove
Irish Rose Victorian is well appointed and centrally located on mid-coast Maine for exploring Camden, Rockland and Rockport. Also a great location for day trips to Bar Harbor and Boothbay Harbor. Beautiful accommodations to return to after a day of exploring and sightseeing on Maine's scenic coast. Irish Rose is very spacious and comfortable great for a family vacation.

Liked but some drawbacks.
The beds were comfortable. It was so pleasant to arrive to already-made beds after a tiring drive. Plenty of towels were provided, and we exchanged them after the first week. Be sure to ask when and where to exchange towels. If you are there more than one week housekeeping is provided if you want it.
Paper towels, toilet paper, and tissues were provided on arrival. We provided our own replacements. Dishwasher soap and hand dishwasher soap were provided, along with a new sponge.
The kitchen was well supplied for our needs. We did no cooking so don't know if others would need something else. The appliances worked well.
Wooden hangers were supplied except in the smallest bedroom that did not have a hanging bar in the closet.
Alex and Siobhan were friendly and gracious hosts. When Siobhan learned that my niece was having a birthday, she gave us a cake.
Note that all the bedrooms are on the second floor. There are sturdy handrails. All the bedrooms have an air conditioner that work well. The air conditioners on the first floor cool the main part of the house well. No air conditioner in the sun room.
The only key that we were given was to a door that was reached by three steps without a handrail. We asked Alex for a key to a door that does have a handrail and was given it graciously. Alex said that he will install a railing on the other stairs.
The first floor shower is very small and awkward to use, though it does have a hand-held shower head that is helpful once you learn how to aim it so that water does not leak under the door. Have an over-the-door hook for a washcloth. The second floor shower was a problem in that the plastic surround covers part of the floor of the tub and was a slip-and-fall hazard so we did not use it.
We knew that there would be road noise from other reviews, but did not anticipate how bothersome it would be. Instead of enjoying the peace and quiet of the beautiful view, the non-stop noise from trucks and cars destroyed the ambiance for us.
Tip: the storm door to the kitchen has a bottom panel that slides up and down to swap from glass to screen.
Tip: the light switch to the dining room light has a tiny lever tucked in beside it that dims and brightens the light.
Irish Rose was a charmingly decorated house with helpful and gracious hosts. If the drawbacks mentioned would not bother you, the cottage would be a pleasant place to stay.
Thank you for staying at the Irish Rose and for your review. We are extremely disappointed with the 3 star rating you gave us. While we understand there is traffic noise as previously stated we have supplied white noise machines in all bedrooms to counteract this noise, should there be any at night time. You both told us you never slept better in your lives and didn't have to use the white noise machines at all. You said the beds were super comfortable and your niece felt the same as you did.
We are aware there is day time traffic noise but generally it doesn't seem to bother anybody. We are very sorry that the shower curtain was too long for the claw foot bath tub upstairs. We were not aware of this but if it was brought to our attention we could have changed it to a shorter one. We did ask you and your friend many a time if everything was o.k. And if you are enjoying yourselves and the feedback was always wonderful. This is why we are so surprised that you just gave us a 3 star rating.
We have to thank you for all the positive comments which we very much appreciate. We work so hard at this that we would always like to know if there is anything we can improve on during our guests stay. If we are not informed of issues that can be taken care of eg. changing the shower curtain then we can't rectify the problem. We always tell our guests on check in to let us know if there is anything they need or if they have any concerns to please let us know and we will tend to it as soon as possible.

Information on VRBO information was very accurate 👍
A very Irish theme, Owners were very pleasent. We stayed in the Irish Rose home for our family of 6 adults and an 8 year old. Sunrises I cannot describe
Because I still wake up and remember the beauty off the back porch! Porches are big and and very relaxing. Big Victorian home
Lots of room. Day trips to Ligghthouses Acadia National park and. Lots of restaurants nearby! The best adventure we had was the schooner “ Heron Sail” lunch sail, tell them you stay at this VRBO 1/2 off tickets! We would defiantly stay there again if in the area.
Thank you for the nice review of the Irish Rose. Delighted that you enjoyed the house and were able to plan your day trips from our central Mid-Coast location.
Look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Rockport.
Have a great fall,
Al & Hanna.
There was plenty of room for three couples (longtime friends) to spend a week together at the Irish Rose. The view of the cove was picturesque and we never tired of admiring it. The house was clean, nicely decorated, and just minutes away from both Rockland and Camden. The only drawback was the tight space in the bathroom showers. We had a great time here and would be happy to return.
Thank you for staying at the Irish Rose and delighted you enjoyed your stay and hopefully we will see you on your next visit to Mid-Coast Maine.
