Austin Studio Rental Photos and Description

Furnished Efficiency Apartment, 2nd Floor 'Attic' Space, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)

Bed and Breakfast style....without the breakfast.

Enjoy a comfortable Urban Retreat in our European style attic apartment. We are conveniently located just a few blocks from downtown in a historic home, nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our home is adjacent to the Swede Hill Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The apartment is fully furnished including an authentic hammock from the Yucatan and an antique claw foot tub with hand held shower hose. Furnishings also include a bistro table, lounge chair, and desk. It has a compact kitchen with a refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, cooking and dining utensils. A private entrance to the apartment is by way of a spiral staircase on the outside of our home. Plenty of free on-street parking is available in front of the house.

Credit Cards are accepted via HomeAway payments & Pay Pal.

State Capitol, Frank Erwin Center, University of Texas, Bob Bullock History Museum & IMAX Theatre, LBJ Museum and Library, Blanton Museum of Art, Bass Concert Hall, Austin Convention Center, South Congress Avenue, Sixth Street, Lake Austin, Zilker Park and Barton Springs.

The 100 year old house was purchased in 1995. At the time it was abandoned, condemned, and on a path toward demolition. During the renovation, the roof was raised to make room for a living space in the 'attic'. The attic apartment was completed in 1997 and rented as an unfurnished apartment for nine years. In October, 2006, it was converted to a vacation rental with the name of 'An Affordable Urban Retreat.' Two years later, we changed the name to 'La Vita Oasis Retreat' as it is today. We think you'll like it here, our guests have.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Highly recommended.

This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay!

Spacious and bright apartment, well equipped

(wireless internet, cable TV, kitchen appliances and

utensils, towels and bath products), with nice small

touches all around (hammock, candles, coffee,

guidebooks). Close to downtown and UT (absolutely

walkable although there are several bus stops

nearby too). The owner is very professional and nice

- it was a pleasure to deal with him and to spend

our week-long vacation at this sweet place. Many

Excellent place for great price

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during ACL weekend. We knew prices to anywhere during that weekend would be inflated, but Oasis was at a reasonable price. The location is great! you can even see a bit of the Capitol from the stairs. The room is cozy and perfect in size. I had never seen a bath tub next to the bed, but that didn't bother me. I would say, the tv needs a bit of an upgrade. Other than that, I liked that the room was supplied with everything. Also, the neighborhood is pretty quiet despite its proximity to UT. Also, safe since we walked around it at night. I'd definitely recommend this place!

lovely and convenient

  • 5 of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed La Vita Oasis Retreat for my two-week stay in Austin. It's quiet, comfortable, and convenient to down town. Lovely garden out back with a couple of sweet kitties that made it feel a bit like home.

The Capitol grounds are only a 15-minute walk away. The bus stop is 10-minutes from the apartment. And there are a couple of nice restaurants within easy walking distance - one with a few grocery essentials. Also enjoyed walking through the nearby historic graveyard.

Yes, I would recommend La vita. Thanks, Myer, for making my Austin visit so pleasant.

Perfect for a weekend visit to Austin!

  • 5 of 5

Great location!! Rainy day so I slipped on the spiral broken bones though! Spiral staircase outside is narrow but worked out for "thin" guests...not sure how a taller or heavier person would handle it! Just an observation! It was great for the price and met all of our needs! Would book again!

The apartment is conveniently located just a few blocks from downtown in a historic house, nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood. Despite appearing to be so close to the interstate highway, the area is remarkably quiet with many trees and greenery. All of our guests have commented on how quiet it is, despite being so close to downtown. The house is adjacent to the Swede Hill Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
