About the property

Welcome to Enchantment!

Our season is beginning and what a wonderful season it promises to be. We are so pleased you are considering our cabin for your vacation rental. It is a very special place we think you will always remember.

Camp High Harbour is just a short drive away and offers parents visiting their children a wonderful cabin in the woods setting close by. We have been fortunate to receive very special reviews from Camp High Harbour visiting families who have stayed here.

We call the house ENCHANTMENT...for it is a place of wonder and magic.

Soaring two story windows provide unforgettable lake and mountain views and each day brings a mystery of constantly changing vistas... haunting mists rise from the lake, crystal clear skies light each mountain ridge, and bears and deer have all been seen here.

The house is a true (three story) log cabin with extraordinary views from every level and furnished so each and every piece would belong to the house. From the huge four poster Aspen bed made in Colorado for the 'Gone Fishin' room to the handmade switchplates done by a potter to a dining fixture of twigs and crystals that make you think of lights in the is all as if it was always there, part of the land and the mountains.

The Great Room with its soaring two story windows has a floor to ceiling stacked stone fireplace (and yes it's woodburning). A comfortable leather sectional with a chaise faces both the fireplace and a 46' HDTV with DirecTV satellite reception. The Master bedroom with its own master bath is on the main level and has a Queen bed. The upstairs' bedrooms all have Queen beds and each has a flat screen TV with Satellite reception. The kitchen is very large, fully equipped, and offers new stainless steel Samsung appliances. (Kitchen photos of new appliances pending).

The house also has wireless internet connection.

You'll love the massive deck on the view side of the house. A huge outdoor table for eight lets you dine in the tall trees that surround it with a view that will take your breath away. And when night falls, the stars are as bright as diamonds. Just lean back and star gaze in a sparkling hot tub set in a private alcove on the deck (magnificent trees all around).

Rather not have the sun, there are two covered areas on the deck with an outdoor ceiling fan to keep you cool and comfortable. .And don't forget your 'grillin' hat... There's a large new gas grill just waiting for the next Food Network Star. For lazy days when you just want to stay put, sit awhile on the front porch in one of the comfortable rocking chairs. Nature's serenade will astonish you.

The setting is private and secluded on 3.2 acres adjacent to the USFS. The National Forest and hiking are virtually just outside the cabin. (Note: For those interested in hiking on the Appalachian Trail, it's just minutes down the road..

There is plenty of parking, and a paved driveway. Also, while the property is secluded, it is only a short distance to the town of Clayton and the wonderful stores and restaurants nearby.

An amazing waterfall trail is about 10 to 15 minutes away, across from Moccasin Creek State Park on 197. (Stop in at the Ranger office in the Park for more information on this and other trails. Canoes are also available for rent there).

A little further down on 197 is La Prade's Marina. Go tubing or rent a pontoon boat! You'll also enjoy the casual elegance of the indoor/outdoor dining at The Chophouse restaurant at LaPrade's. It's reasonably priced, with a lovely view of Lake Burton and the food is good.

Also just minutes away from our cabin is what was formerly known as Waterfall Country Club and is now The Lake Burton Club. Kingwood Golf Course, a public course, is about 20 minutes away.

Here are some local dining tips: Try the Dillard House for one of their amazing dinners... It is a unique

southern experience that draws diners from three states. Saturday Night is their Prime Rib night plus lots more.

For Family style BBQ, don't miss Oinkers on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Their BBQ is so good they only have to open three days a week. Ribs start at 4:30 but get there early before they sell out.

For special dining, you'll love the ambiance, setting and food of Clayton's newest restaurant, Fortify, or try the lovely White Birch Inn or The Farmhouse Restaurant at Persimmon Creek.

3 Night Minimum for Holidays. 7 Night Minimum for Columbus Day week (Leaf Season) $1400.

Great getaway at Lake Burton

  • 5 of 5

This is a great getaway. Very peaceful, great views of Lake Burton and everything you need. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the deck and hot tub are hard to beat. We rented a boat on the lake, hiked in Cashiers and locally and spent an evening in Clayton. All convenient to the house.

Lovely Home with a Beautiful View - Convenient Location for Exploring

  • 5 of 5

This home provides a peaceful get-away with lovely views of Lake Burton from the mountain above. The location was within 15 minutes of the town of Clayton which has much to offer in the way of shopping and dining, hiking trails to waterfalls including Slippery Rock where adults and kids alike can slide down the falls into a refreshing pool of water below and LaPrade's Marina where you can rent a boat to get out on the lake or just enjoy the lake view from several dining venues. Helen Georgia where my grandsons like to tube on the river is a bit further, but an enjoyable scenic drive. We were there over the July 4th holiday and could see and hear the fireworks over the lake from our deck with the boats gathered on the lake below looking like twinkling stars. Speaking of stars, the view of the night sky from the deck and hot tub was spectacular. The manager provided firewood so that we could enjoy the fireplace in the morning and evening when the weather was cool - the grandkids fashioned sticks from outside into skewers to roast marshmallows and make s'mores. The house is decorated beautifully and the kitchen was stocked with everything needed to prepare meals at home when we didn't want to venture out to local restaurants - breakfast on the deck each morning was delightful.

Our family had the best week in this cabin! The view is spectacular and so is the cabin! Danielle and the management company were wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend this cabin!! We spent every day exploring the area, but would be back in time to cook dinner under the stars and relax in the hot tub. We made so many great memories here that will never be forgotten. My seven-year-old little girl had an absolute blast! Thank you for everything!

Enchantment is truly enchanting! The owner Danielle and manager Hilda were a joy to work with. The home is so welcoming. When you walk through the front door, the first thing you see is Lake Burton and the mountains. The home is clean and well appointed for your total comfort. We enjoyed the hot tub and watched the stars. We had a fabulous meal at The Farmhouse, which is just a 10 minute drive away. We didn't cook any meals or grill out, but the kitchen is well set up for entertaining at home. The beds and linens were very comfortable and we were well rested and loved waking up to have coffee on the large deck over looking Lake Burton. You will not be disappointed if you chose Enchantment as your next get away! Thank you for sharing your home with us Danielle.

Extraordinary Doesn't Begin To Describe ..........

  • 5 of 5

From the bottom of the driveway, to walking in the front door, to seeing the view, to touring the cabin it is just amazing !!! Wonderful floor plan. Extremely tasteful mountain décor. A feeling of peace, solitude, hominess & warmth. And immaculate. We had a full week, but it wasn't enough !! Just 2 of us, the first floor was perfect & cozy.

We took daytrips everyday. It was peak foliage. The weather was perfect. The primary purpose of our days was to find waterfalls. We managed 10, 3 requiring hikes. Everyone was unique & beautiful.

The location of the cabin made everything convenient. Touring the falls, going to North Carolina (Our favorite restaurant for trout is Jimmy Mac's in Bryson City, N.C.), shopping, dining, etc. Seclusion & convenience are a big plus for us

Our mornings were spent on the deck surrounded by nature & that grand view. Our evenings, in the hot tub, by the fire, and just enjoying our surroundings.

We have used VRBO for years, and I must say this cabin has taken the spot of #1 !! We are so glad we found it, and we plan to return in the future. If it were available in the winter we would return and sit by the fire and pray for snow !!!

Thank you Danielle & Glenn for sharing your magnificent home !!
