One of the only private properties owned in federally/residential New River Gorge Recreation Area
The location was great; only 15-20 minutes to Beckley and a little longer to the New River Gorge Bridge. The cabin was clean and ready upon our arrival. We noticed a couple minor repairs needed in the downstairs bathroom, but nothing that kept us from using it. In fact the jacuzzi tub helped melt the long travel day away. The rooms were spacious and comfortable for our family of 8. There was a total of 5 rollaway beds and the kids said they were comfy, too. We had no trouble connecting to wifi. We ate several meals at the cabin including a couple bbq's and found more than enough space and utensils for our group. The grill is a gas/charcoal combo with smoker. No propane tank there, but we picked up some charcoal and had a great cookout. Some of our group did go down to swim in the river. Be aware that getting down the steps is a little treacherous and there are big boulders in the water right near the shoreline. But, once we got past those it was an awesome time in the water. On the final night we enjoyed s'mores at the fire pit in front. I was able to get in touch with Brock by texting and email. We received our deposit back about the time we got to our home. We really had an awesome time and would recommend you take advantage of this hidden gem.
Very nice property off the beaten path down along the New River. Property was just as advertised. Clean and well maintained. Property manager was very responsive to any questions we had. We had no issues. Just wish we could have stayed a few more days.
Would recommend this property to anyone.
We rented this cabin for a weekend bachelor party. We were trying to stay within a budget and this cabin fit our target and was able to accommodate our group size (8). The cabin is located in a beautiful river valley right near the New River. The cabin is actually across a small road from the river but there is nearly zero traffic and walking down to the river is no problem at all. The cabin itself was well outfitted with all of the cooking utensils that we needed, sheets, blankets etc. There are two queen beds, one in a upstairs loft and a second on the main floor. The remaining roll-away beds are all in the basement. You could probably move one or two upstairs but most of our group just ended up sleeping in the basement where it was cooler. Not a problem for a group of dudes. The shower is located in the basement so that's a little awkward but really not a big deal. We had plenty of room to play cards and goof around. The air conditioning worked well and there are also fans to help cool things off. There was Wifi but apparently there is a monthly limit of 40gb/month and when we arrived 38gb had already been used so we quickly ran out of Wifi....we didn't mind, it was nice to be "unplugged" for a while. There was a small flat screen TV above the fireplace and another upstairs but we didn't even use them. The cabin is located near rafting companies and not far from Glade Spring resort for those who want to golf. We felt the location was perfect for our purposes (rafting and golf). Overall, this was a great value and would highly recommend this rental for people who are looking to get away from it all for a while.
The house had everything you could need for cooking and cleaning. Very tidy and clean! The weather was not great so we could not enjoy the deck nor the fire pit - but wished we could have! House has a nice back deck area also with lots of seating. Did not grill but it was a nice one.
We had 5 adults- which was manageable but not great for sleeping arrangements with two bedrooms (one of which is a loft). One person had to sleep on the futon in the den which did not work well for that person due to early risers :)
Great location- about 20 minutes to any store you would want, shopping and movie theaters -yet you feel like you are in the middle of the National Park (because you are)!
As for hiking, we got great advice (and a trails guide) at the Welcome Center (we went to 2 different and got the same information). We hiked the Endless Wall Trail and Long Point Trail in Fayetteville, Trails of Glade Creek in Prince, and Trails of Grandview (2 days of exploring).
Would highly recommend!!
The cabin was nice. It was a little more snug than the pictures suggest but overall very nice. The view is nice from the deck to the river. A broken grill was provided and a new one was not available to us. The property manager made it right and discounted our stay some as well as a future stay at one of his properties. If you are looking to do some fishing contact Larry at WV Experince. We had a great time on the river with he and his crew.
Overall we had a great time!
The Cabin is centrally located between Beckley & Fayetteville. Great hiking and mountain biking areas close to cabin. Only 12 miles from 12,000 acre Summit Bechtel boy scout area.
