Where to begin? This listing is managed by a 3rd party that officially is not authorized to sub-let this accommodation, according to the Resort staff.
To obtain the keys to the condo from the front desk, you need to provide your name and the address given by the letting agency. The letting agency provided the address of the owner who owns the Time Share and did not provide my address!
Had I not followed up the day prior to our arrival and uncovered a convoluted process, we would not have been given the keys to condo by the check-in reception!
I had to call a MI phone number to leave a message, and then receive a callback from a call enter in the Philippines to explain the situation and obtain the registered address of the owners before I could access the condo. It was an unnecessary hassle and emotional panic that could have been avoided if the listing had stated they were a 3rd party management company!
The listing also stated it could condo could accommodate 7 people. It DOESN'T! It only has room for 6 people! I spent the entire stay sleeping on the floor. However, the resort staff were wonderful in providing extra bedding to make the floor a little more comfortable.
Sadly, this wasn't the only issue: The electric dryer didn't work, so we had to use the dryer from another condo further down the block from us. It's a good thing we didn't wash too many clothes to carry in the freezing cold between condos.
Lastly, the bathrooms are not well maintained. I always judge my vacations on the quality of the bathroom facilities as a pleasant, relaxing shower can make other irritations appear irrelevant. The showers barely work! We got barely a trickle of water that didn't even extend past a quarter of the bathtub. The shower controls were horrendous! You either had freezing water or scolding boiling hot water! It took many many many attempts to find the right location on the control to get a reasonable water temperature.
All in all, would we return to Sugar Mountain for another Ski vacation? Absolutely! It's a gorgeous place! Would we stay at Blue Ridge Village? Only if they have renovated and there's absolutely no other option!!
This whole experience has soured my opinion of VRBO. It was impossible to get in touch with VRBO customer support. They had a 20 minute wait just so speak with someone. It was easier dealing with a call center in the Philippines than VRBO!! Only use VRBO if it clearly states info of the listing agent!
