About Sandi Rowland
My husband and I have travelled throughout Central America for decades and first came to Manuel Antonio in 1991. The area maintains its beauty as a charming beach community with a great respect for the environment. We love coming back and Villa Amarilla is our perfect getaway. We are thrilled to have Donielle and everyone from Costa Rica First Class villas managing the property. They keep everything in great shape and take great care of our guests.
Sandi Rowland purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Sandi Rowland chose Manuel Antonio
This property is in a great location. You can walk to secluded Macha Beach, hop on a bus to the main Manuel Antonio beach or national park or walk to a neighborhood restaurant. It's close to everything yet very quiet. Love watching all the monkeys, birds, etc. from the lanai.
What makes this Villa unique
We have an on site property manager/concierge who can help with all your travel arrangements in the area including transfers from the airport, booking tours and recommendations on local restaurants

Wonderful Vacation and Great Villa!
We had a great stay at Villa Amarilla with our family of 4 (including our 2 sons ages 4 & 6). We did not use the lower level bedroom other than for the laundry facilities located in the lower level bathroom. Mariana was SO wonderful to have as a resource for us from recommending/arranging activities, requesting taxis, recommending restaurants, helping arrange airport transportation, etc. She was a total lifesaver and was incredibly sweet and helpful to us all week long. The villa has a nice large screened lanai which was nice for sitting outside and relaxing day or night. The Chaman communal pool was only steps away and was a great spot to relax and cool off. The only complaint I have about the villa is the furniture in the living room was very stained and dirty looking. It should definitely be replaced. However, the bedroom furniture was comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The location of the villa is 1/2 a block from the city bus line which runs every 15 minutes. We used this a lot to get around between Quepos (3 minute bus ride) and Manuel Antonio (8 minute bus ride). There are a couple restaurants within walking a couple minutes walking distance from Villa Amarilla, but I would say the walk to Quepos would be difficult as there is a large hill you have to cover. The city bus or taxi (which are prevalent) would be a better bet. While the villa does not have any ocean views, the jungle feel you get with all of the lush vegetation surrounding the unit is lovely. We saw macaws, iguanas, monkeys, frogs all from our porch, so the wildlife is definitely close by! Overall we had a great stay here and loved every minute of our vacation to Costa Rica!
Thanks so much for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We have just upgraded the living room furniture with a brand new white leather sofa and love seat. We'll be updating our listing pictures soon!
Villa Armarilla at the Chaman in Quepos
Our friends and I enjoyed our stay at the Chaman, we stayed at the Villa Armarilla, our first couple of days we were greeted by two different species of monkeys as they made their way thru the tree's. We saw many birds. We enjoyed the pool the setting was very pleasant. We also noted a large Iguana in the tree's. Our concierge2 Mariana was wonderful to work with.
There are a couple of different restaurants within walking distance that we enjoyed eating at,
The Mono Azule and the El Arada. Also at the Yaro displayed local artist's. work.
Wonderful home in a private setting just outside Quepos
This is a wonderful home in a private setting in a good location outside Quepos. It has two floors: 2 bedrooms + 2 bathrooms upstairs, along w/ living room, full kitchen, and dining area, and fenced-in porch; and large bedroom w/ 2 beds + bath w/ laundry downstairs (which you can only access via outside stairs). It is large, clean, and the a/c works great! If you want to cook in "at home", it has everything you need. The compound, named Condomio Chaman, is tranquil, beautiful and well-kept, and there is a nice pool on-site, overlooking the jungle. The location is just off route 618 outside Quepos, en route to Manuel Antonio National Park, which is ~10-15 minute ride away. Easy to get anywhere you need to go; the public bus stops at the corner of Route 618 near the condo every 10 minutes or so, and there is (limited) parking right outside the gate. There is a great little restaurant just down the street, el Arado, and many more down the road toward MANP. Macaws are nesting in a large tree just outside the gate, and you can see/hear them in early a.m. and late afternoon. Monkeys occasionally swing through, too. The concierge, Maria, is wonderful, and will help you book tours, find places to go -- she even helped us get a flat tire fixed at a local shop!
Perfect for an adult family of 4.
Fantastic villa with great service. Mariana was gracious and eased our way with great recommendations of where to eat and play!!!
This villa could not have been more perfect. On our first day we were able to join in a Monkey Pool Party - we were swimming and suddenly a swarm of monkeys came to eat the fruit in the trees. It was awesome. The condominium is clean, good air condition, very comfortable beds with good sheets, washing machine and dryer make is very easy to pack light, good wi-fi. Close enough to town to walk - although you have to want the exercise as there is a good hill. For me this was a good dose of daily exercise. The Concierge is excellent and prompt. Could not have asked for a better stay.
Great Time for Quepos and Manuel Antionio
Villa Amarilla was great, we all felt very comfortable on our one week stay. Susan the concierge was very attentive and accommodating to our needs. We would defitinely stay again to use it as a home base for fishing in Quepos and sightseeing in Manuel Antionio.
The wifi is spotty sometimes and the downstairs bedroom most oftentimes cannot connect to the wifi.
