We Can't Stop Coming Back!! Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Tulum and Caphe Ha, and it was every bit as magical as the first. The road to the house was much better this year, so we were able to venture out a bit more than we did on our previous visit. That said, once we arrived we didn't really want to leave. The house was just as we had left it - in pristine condition with every "off the grid" amenity we could ask for - from the outdoor well to wash off the salt water to the hammocks, outdoor showers, incredible beach views and the sea right in front of us, we were in paradise! Manuela and Roberto were there and took great care of us. They had coffee and breakfast waiting for us each morning, cut down fresh coconuts daily, and made the most delicious, fresh and authentic Mexican meals each evening. We had our 9 and 7 year old children with us and they also loved the sense of relaxation and calm. It was so nice to be able to shut down and get off electronic devices!! Even for them. Caphe Ha is a special place and we will keep coming back!

Best so far in Q.R.

  • 5 of 5

This is the most private, quiet, and secluded villa we've found in Q.R., (under $1,000 a day). Manuela is a master chef and she is a welcome addition to the property. You will not see another soul for your stay, and Manuela will modify her presence upon request to give you total privacy. This place just squeezes the tension out, while the relaxation oozes in. Great place, great food! It is a LONG slow journey down from Cancun, along the gravel road from Tulum past Boca Paila, and I will get a Jeep the next time we're there--and we DO plan to go back. (P.S. the family dogs (of Roberta y Manuela who reside on the property about 200 yards away) may greet you with barking but they're harmless. (Make sure and get kilometer markings from Guy when you book so you don't try to find the turn in too soon). P.P.S: the "best fish tacos in the world" sign at Mateo's in the Hotel Zone south of Tulum isn't exaggerating. They are the best fish tacos in the world!

Swiss Family Robinson style vacation - perfectly tropical, secluded, and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with a group of friends, 3 couples total and this place was perfect! This is truly off the beaten path with amazing views and a beautiful beach right out your doorstep. We hardly saw anyone while we were there and you can walk miles either direction on the beach without seeing anyone and with uninterrupted views of the Caribbean. There is lots of privacy and the rooms are very comfortable, all have an ocean view. We went in April which was perfect weather and the open air vibe of the place made it very comfortable day and night. Located in the Sian Ka'an biosphere it really is off the grid with solar power and no TV, internet, etc but still has comfortable modern conveniences like running water, hot showers and full kitchens. We did some day excursions to Tulum to see the ruins, a cenote, and ate at a couple of the restaurants on the hotel strip on the way to the house, but we spent most of our time at the house relaxing on the beach and playing cards, reading, swimming, etc. Bringing a vehicle is necessary to stay here and it takes about 45 minutes to trek into town but the remoteness is what lends Caphe Ha its charm. As to be expected in the middle of the biosphere, there is wildlife but it stays outside the rooms for the most part. I recommend bringing a flashlight as it gets very dark at night and its necessary to see when walking between buildings but also makes for awesome star gazing. Roberto and Manuela are the caretakers who live on the property and were extremely helpful with anything we needed. And the best part of it all was truly Manuela's amazing cooking. Anyone who does not hire her to cook meals during their stay will sorely regret it as it is the best food we have ever tasted (and that's coming from a bunch of foodies with high standards)! She cooked two main meals a day for us and also helped keep the place clean, so worth it! Overall we left refreshed, well fed, and content. Caphe Ha is the perfect tropical getaway for anyone wanting a relaxing vacation off the beaten path spiced with a little adventure.

Wonderful Vacation and Vibe

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Caphe Ha! The house is really off the grid which is just what we wanted. Our 2 teenage kids loved it too. The water is crystal clear...we chased rays around just steps from the property in the water. We swam out at least 2-3 times a day to the coral reef, located a nice swim from the beach. It was amazing! The wildlife was abundant, the coral was wonderful colors, and the water very clear. We BBQ'ed at night and things were very low key. Playing cards at night, reading books, enjoying time together. We took some excursions to Tulum, Chichen Iza,Coba. Loved Coba the most, you rent bikes and ride around the ruins. It was wonderful. We met Guy and Erika one night- they are the nicest people. It was great to make their acquaintance. Also, Manuela's cooking was killer, and Roberto took us out on the boat one evening. Incredible bird watching! WOW! Net, net- we loved every minute of it.

An Excellent Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and extended family spent two amazing weeks at Caphe Ha. Some of the highlights for us were the sea turtles nesting on the beach, snorkeling on the reef, long walks on the deserted beach, a boat trip to bird island, and lots of peace and quiet. Roberto and Manuela were very helpful. Manuela cooked two meals a day for us and the food was perfect. The house is 'rustic' and far removed from the town down a long 'bumpy' road. (I recommend renting an SUV!) I definitely recommend this property for someone who wants to get away from it all.

A Private Caribbean Beach Paradise

  • 5 of 5

If you've ever dreamed of having your own Caribbean beach paradise, off the grid, private and remote--this is the place for you. Under an hour's drive from the civilization of Tulum and into the Sian Ka'an Biosphere, the Caphe Ha house is really a whole compound--a private cottage with bedroom, bath, kitchen and living room; a separate two story house with two large bedrooms and baths; and a separate kitchen building with a cathedral thatched roof, big dining areas indoors and outdoors and a huge sitting area. In the area between the buildings and the ocean, there's a lovely yard with plenty of hammocks, palms, chaises and chairs and a gorgeous white sandy beach. We were two couples and we couldn't believe how much space and privacy Caphe Ha afforded us, plus a completely private beach with no neighbors as far as the eye can see. Except for a group of soldiers on patrol one day, we never saw another person on the beach.

The caretakers, Roberto and Manuela, are wonderfully helpful--there when you need them, unseen otherwise. Have Manuela cook a Mayan meal or two for you--she's a terrific cook. And don't miss Roberto's early evening boat trip to an island in the back lagoon where you will see a cornucopia of birds nesting for the night. Up close!

For me, this place was a dream--my own Gilligan's island, but with solar-powered lights, propane-powered stove and refrigerator and plenty of bathrooms and showers indoors and out. Just be sure you buy lots of ice cubes anytime you are in town--ice is precious and you don't want to run out. The one time we ran short, Roberto made the run to Tulum to keep our drinks cold. Roberto also keeps the Caphe Ha beach clean--raking up seaweed and the occasional litter every day. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back myself.
