Charming Maine cottage on a bluff overlooking the Penobscot bay and Islesboro

Our cottage is situated in the charming and historic Town of Temple Heights.

Temple Heights is located on a tiny bluff directly overlooking Penobscot Bay and Isleboro island. We have seaside access and a pebble beach located across the road. There are awesome views of Islesboro and the bay from many of the cottages rooms.

You'll be witness to spectacular morning sunrises and incredible evening skies. Let the sound of the ocean put you to sleep. Enjoy the local lobstermen tend to their traps. Take the ferry (7 minute drive) over to Islesboro beaches for a picnic. Golf at the nearby golf course. Take a walk to nearby coves. This cottage is an ideal place to slow down and relax.

We are located between Belfast and Camden, and just two minutes from Route 1. You can enjoy day sailing on a windjammer or a real lobster boat. You may want to spend the day shopping and dining in historic Camden or visit the many attractions in the area. A short 1 ½ hour drive to Acadia National Park

Parking at cottage: Parking in Temple Heights is on the street. Most, if not all the cottages have a right of way in front and in the back of the cottage. Cars will at times park in the right of way just to unload supplies. Parking at the cottage is convenient and you can pull up next to the cottage. Do not park in front of any right of way or on the lawn/yard. Thank you.

About Owner

My wife and I and children live in NJ and summer as much as we can at our Maine cottage every summer and fall. We renovated and raised the cottage and have created a family jewel on the coast of Maine. Each morning throughout the year, our kids take turns crossing off their calendar countdown for our spring and summer cottage memories to begin!

Owner purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Owner chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

Our little spot is perfect for either relaxing inside, around the campfire in the back yard, or to utilize it as a home base to drive the coast. Many of our past renters chose our cottage for its location but found it hard to leave the cottage. The beach is a 2 minute walk, filled with sea glass, mussels, star fish and so many treasures. We have a kayak to explore the coast line and take you to the great swimming areas of kellys cove or saturday cove.

What makes this cottage unique

cozy. close to Bar Harbor (45 min), Camden (8 miles), and swimming lakes inland. Our swing that overlooks Islesboro is perfect for that morning cup of coffee or late night glass of wine. Our fire pit out in the back yard (we keep firewood ready for you) is usually the highlight of everyone's stay. When we are at the cottage it IS the community spot to enjoy each other.

Beautiful little cottage with very clean, caring and helpful owners.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a quintessential New England property. Beautifully maintained by people that clearly love their little cottage. We felt so welcome in this clean and charming place. Sitting on the front porch swing sipping coffe was sublime. There was no wifi and not great reception on the tv so a perfect place to relax and reconnect with loved ones. I attended a conference in Belfast (5-10 min drive) and my husband went fishing at a few beautiful "ponds" recommended by our very friendly neighbor.

We would love to return with our children and there is plenty of room for both of them.

Idyllic home perfect for a true Maine experience.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend in late September. The house is stocked with everything you need. If your plans are to see Bar Harbor, Belfast, Rockport, and Camden, this house is in the perfect location. At the end of our busy days of seeing the sights, we loved coming back to the peaceful firepit and outdoor grill. This home is located in a neighborhood with beautiful views of the bay. We never saw a neighbor, and loved the boat house and availability of the kayaks. What a treat. We would highly recommend this vacation rental!

Just One More Day, PLEASE!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cottage! Every room has views of the Penobscott Bay. The porch swing is the perfect place to sip coffee while watching the sunrise. Upstairs sleeping areas are comfortable, but two areas are open to one another. The third one has a door. The beach is great for kayaking. We loved visiting and eating in Belfast.

Quiet , funky and comfy: A welcome retreat

  • 5 of 5

We wish we could go back this year! Hopefully, someone else will enjoy the pleasures of this little cottage. It's up on a hill, overlooking the water. It is not fancy, but it has everything you need for cooking and sleeping and going out on the water in their kayak. One of our favorite things to do was eat on the glassed in porch after a long day on the water or time hiking in the hills nearby. If you want "city life," Belfast and Camden are not far away.

The perfect cottage in the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

It was our first visit Downeast and we couldn’t have dreamed of a better week. We loved everything about our cottage – it was so cozy and inviting, offered terrific views of the ocean and was mere steps away from a fabulous shore where our children never tired of searching for sea treasures. When we managed to drag them away, we visited Fort Knox in Prospect, beachcombed at Owl’s Head State Park, discovered lovely Belfast, relaxed at Lincolnville down by the shore with friendly neighbours. We found it very difficult to leave but look forward to a two-week stay next Summer.

Regarding restaurants…We can’t wait to go back to Belfast for Darby’s best-ever clam chowder and the wonderful fresh produce at Chase’s Daily. Chez Michel in Lincolnville has a terrific menu with wonderful friendly service and the buttery lobster rolls at the Lobster Pound are delicious. Enjoying ice cream at the scenic River Duck bridge and seafood at Cappy’s, overlooking Camden’s gorgeous harbour, are a must!

We would highly recommend this rental - the cottage, the location and the owner are fabulous!
