The house is located just 1 mile to the entrance of Acadia National Park in a quiet, wooded spot 4 miles before Bar Harbor. The real log cabin sits well back from the road nestled amongst trees, you can find yourself unwinding and relaxing in the calming atmosphere. The time when you just want to chill for awhile, you'll have plenty of space in both the living room and loft to watch TV, do a jigsaw puzzle, play a board game, sit around the kitchen table for dining or just some conversation, or read a good book by the fire. The cabin is conveniently on the free Explorer Bus route with access just a short distance from the end of our driveway. And do bring the dog along!
The only complaint we've heard in 15 years is that they have to leave and go back home!
Gale's Garden Guesthouse is a wonderful cabin to come home to after exploring nearby Bar Harbor, or after a day of breathtaking hiking in Acadia National Park.
The master bedroom is situated in the back of the house, looking out towards the forest. The second bedroom has two single beds, perfect for our two daughters. There's an upstairs loft area with comfortable furniture and a pair of skylights - you feel a bit like you're up in the trees. The kitchen is well-equipped and we ate in for more than half our meals.
Close by, there's a nice 15 minute walk to the ocean, a miniature golf course, BBQ - Mainely Meat, and a little further afield, a very cool microbrewery (Atlantic Brewery), and of course Bar Harbor shopping, nic nacs, etc.
Gale did a great job of making us feel welcome; renting from her was easy and convenient. A quick aside - our daughter lost her iPod, fortunately Gale's cleaner (Tammy) found it and is generously mailing it to our house in California.
All in all this was one of our family's best vacations and we look forward to returning to Gale's Garden Guesthouse.
This cabin has it all. It is very close to the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia National Park and only a few short miles to the Village of Bar Harbor. The greatest thing is that is's close to Bar Harbor - but just far enough away to escape the craziness of the village shopping district. We were very happy to find a cabin that allowed dogs which was great. Our nine year old daughter loved the porch swing while reading her book after a long day of hiking in the park. The location is great especially since we decided to drive up to the summit of Cadillac Mtn for the sunrise as it is close to the main park loop road. The cabin was very clean and fully stocked. The size and location were just right. Thanks, Gale!

We just want to say thank you and let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your lovely log cabin in Bar Harbor! We had a fantastic week exploring Acadia National Park and the entire Mount Desert Island. What a beautiful part of the world! The cabin exceeded our expectations! It was spotlessly clean, very roomy and well equipped and in a great location. To sum it up: Puffin and Whalewatching tour in thick fog which resulted in NO sightings of either species=$180; seeing three deer on the front lawn at the cabin=PRICELESS!
This cabin is not only charming but very clean and equiped with everything you need. The setting is very private and the locaction is excellent. Its close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia without being right in the middle of the chaos. We loved the porch swing!
My wife, our dog, and myself stayed at Gales cabin for a week this recent summer. What a amazing time we had! The cabin was was perfect! Everything seemed brand new and the place was spotless. The charm and artistic detail of the cabin will make your vacation a memorable one. We really had a great time at Bar Harbor and the cabin made the trip a memorable one. From the cabin, you can walk down the road behind the cabin and come to the ocean where the scenery is majestic. I will never forget this trip. Thanks Gale, you are the best!
