They say it's all about location, but this NYC apartment has it all...location, comfort, and character. Our apartment in Greenwich Village occupies the full second floor of an historic building and features a large living room, a dining room great for entertaining, library alcove with chaise lounger, two bedrooms, and a studio space with exposed brick and large windows. This studio space has a sliding door, so can easily be converted into a 3rd private bedroom. The studio can also be used as a living room, play area, or workspace. The apartment is spacious and sunny all day long. It is equipped with Wi-Fi, central air conditioning, and satellite TV.
Now, the location... Greenwich Village really is a village in the middle of a big city. Characterized by it's historic buildings, artistic vibe, abundant cafes, intimate restaurants and charming mom and pop shops. The storied Washington Square Park is just around the corner from our apartment. And it's a quick walk to adjacent neighborhoods like SoHo, the West Village, East Village, the Lower East Side and Chelsea. Nearby subways include the B/D/F/M and the A/C/E.
And if you want character, you'll find it here. We have one of the city's highest concentration of independent coffee shops and our block is considered one of NYC's newest food meccas. Our building once housed a famous beat generation bookshop and past residents include Allen Ginsberg, Mae West, and Tex Guinan.
We were so impressed by this elegant , stylish , immaculate and extremely comfortable apartment . Christine has thought of everything to make our time in the apartment so pleasant ,with brilliant cooking and dining facilities, washing machine and tumble dryer, even a collection of dvds , and very comfortable sofas , in such a bright sunny living area .
The bedrooms are gorgeous, and the beds were sink into , with great big extra cushions , all very luxurious . Even had a great shower, with lovely smelling soaps provided.
The studio room incidentally, is almost as big as the rest of apartment, which is so very spacious anyway, and from this room you can look out, through the old fire escape, to trees , and the red brick backs of other old New York buildings . We loved it all, it certainly felt very classy, in trendy Greenwich Village.
As well as being such a great apartment to spend time in , it is also really well located, near to several subway stations, and a couple of minutes from Washington Square . Chelsea and Soho , are very easy to walk to, as well as Union Square , where there is a weekly Green Market and a great Wholefoods Supermarket .
We went to NY with our two daughters ,12 and13, and it was an ideal space for a family . One daughter was unwell while we were in NY, and the fact that the apartment was so exceptional, made such a difference to our stay, as we had to spend a lot of time there . Added to this Christine was extremely helpful re. local medical services .
We will certainly want to book the apartment again , when we next return to New York.
This apartment was perfect in every way, exceeded my expectations. The location was near parks, subway, groceries, and lots of food/cafe places were a short walk. Felt very safe in the neighborhood, even at night. There was more than enough space for my family of six. It is very clean, owners and previous guests have done a great job at maintaining the place, so we made sure to do the same. Owners are friendly and provided lots of info before stay and at arrival. Sneak peek view of the Freedom Tower from dining table made each meal feel very special. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much!
Loved this apartment and the wonderful Christine. Nothing was too much trouble and she had a wealth of advice and knowledge for whatever we needed. We loved breakfast every day looking out at the street scene and roof terraces, and planning our day. We will be back!!
We stayed at the apartment the first week in December 2015 and honestly cannot recommend it highly enough!!
We were a group of four (2 couples) and this was our 4th trip to New York, but our first time staying in an apartment rather than a hotel. We had all been a bit nervous about how it would all turn out, but we spent one of the best weeks holiday we've had in this place.
Firstly the pictures are a good representation of how it looks, but you don't get a feel for just how big the place is - it's enormous, especially by New York apartments standards. We originally picked it partly due to location, which is just fantastic - quiet street, near subway stations and right in the heart of one of New York's nicest neighbourhoods; but also because we wanted to experience authentic New York living. It didn't disappoint!!
There was plenty of room for us all & more, it's fully equipped & there's even a really helpful guide to local restaurants etc that we definitely used. Washington Square park is on the doorstep and there's plenty of places to grab a coffee just outside.
Christine the owner was very helpful & friendly, both before we arrived (great communication by email) and also whilst we were there. She provided us with a proper rental contract and allowed us to pay by credit card - allaying all our fears we had read about frauds etc. She left us alone to enjoy our holiday, but made sure we felt comfortable to contact her if we needed to.
We have no doubt we will definitely be back, and honestly if you're looking to stay in NYC, especially if you're a family or a small group, you can't go wrong with this place.
In our opinion the best way to experience one of the best cities in the world!!
My family loved the apartment and my seven year-old son almost refused to leave after the stay. Everything was even better than expected. Apartment was exceptionally clean and well-stocked. Can't beat the location. Thanks to Christine for her good communications and Ramon for helping us move in.
I have little to add to the other 5 star rating comments. Six of us, ages 15 to 73 were so comfortable in this spacious and well decorated apartment. Our gang of vacationers always walks so much, so what a great place to relax at the end of the day. Appreciated the nearness of Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Murray's Bagels. Family history drew us to Ellis Island and the tenement buildings that housed our families in the early 1900s. The two nearby subway stations allowed us to see so much. Thank you Christine for creating this space including the wonderfully appointed "library wall" full of classics and art.
Our building is located in the heart of historic Greenwich Village, one of the best bases from which to explore all of New York City. The neighborhood is filled with fantastic restaurants, charming coffee houses, and tons of bars and lounges to suit any mood. From thrift shops to designers like Marc Jacobs; from corner convenience stores to gourmet supermarkets; Greenwich Village really does have it all! Three subway lines are all within a short walking distance and can take you to almost any neighborhood in Manhattan. The Whiteny Museum, the High Line, the galleries in Chelsea, and tons of Off-Broadway theaters all are a short walk away.
