Beyond Expectations

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I could not be more thrilled with our stay at View to a Thrill. It was the perfect relaxing weekend. I had a question about WiFi (turned out I failed to click connect) and Dwayne responded to my call right away. We sat in the hot tub at night to watch the fireworks at Dollywood. We are already looking to see when we can go back. Thank you for the perfect weekend!

Nice Cabin but be prepared for the drive

  • 3 of 5

Stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend. We read other reviews on Trip Advisor that mentioned the challenging drive up to this cabin. We dismissed these reviews because we have a 4WD truck and have traveled difficult roads in many cities and countries - I recommend you consider the drive to this cabin and DO NOT dismiss the reviews about the challenging drive! We decided not to attempt the drive at night because some of the turns are just too narrow & steep, with sharp drop offs, in particular the last 3 turns leading up to the cabin (had to back & forth the truck just to get around the curves). So each night we made a point of returning to the cabin before dark, which in November meant we were home by 6 PM.

Overall, a nice, somewhat rustic cabin. If having a pool table and hot tubs are important to you, then you'll like it. We felt it needed a few more amenities e.g. no lids for many of the pots/pans, no kettle, minimal bedding, no pot scrubber in kitchen, no Kleenex, no garbage bags for kitchen, etc. However, as indicated in other reviews, it's quiet, quaint and clean.

Owner's Response: Thanks for comments about the cabin -- YES, this is a mountain cabin, as we describe it. Guests enjoy the mountain views provided by this cabin because it's a mountain cabin, but because A VIEW TO A THRILL cabin is in the mountains, curvy and sometimes steep roads come with it,

Amazing place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin from October 14-19th 2015. We had the most amazing stay. The cabin was so CLEAN. Everything we needed for the week was provided. The hot tub and jet tub was perfect after a long day of sightseeing. The drive up to the cabin was pretty steep and a little scary at night time. We didn't see any bears but did see a bunch of wild turkeys. The wifi was really fast, and cable was a nice thing to have too. I give this cabin a 10/10. 5 stars!

Private Retreat

  • 3 of 5

I sent a review to the link provided by the owner, but evidently it wasn't positive enough to be placed on the website. This gives me pause, since I always read reviews before I book accommodations. Are all reviews being posted as long as they are not profane, threatening, or slanderous?

Pros: I loved the privacy, the quiet woodsy views from the porches, enjoyed the hot tub each evening, liked the kitchen and cooking amenities. The PS 2 was great for our grandson. The king size bed with temperpedic mattress was fabulous. Wifi worked great. TVs were fine also. Owner was pleasant, helpful, and easy to deal with.

Cons: Pool table was too close to a wall to really play. The drive up was terrifying and, therefore, we arranged to be home before dark every night. The cabin needs to be deep cleaned though it is pleasantly appointed. Fireplace did not work - maybe gas was turned off.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments - this is a Mountain Cabin - our area, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is a mountain destination, so driving on mountain roads are expected - if you are looking for a nice mountain cabin retreat, then this is it. If the mountain cabin experience is not something you're excited about, we would recommend a cabin down closer to the parkway without the mountain roads. Also, this guest mentioned the fireplace, of course the fireplace works – but, of course it is seasonal and absolutely is closed during the summer months --The East Tennessee summer days in the mountains certainly would not warrant the need for a fireplace -

We had a great 7 days at this cabin. The view to Pigeon Forge was just as described. The cabin was clean. The hot tub was great after each day of shopping and hiking. The road up to the cabin is very steep, but we were able to make it in our Nissan car. We saw a bear crossing the road on the way down the mountain road one day, and we saw lots of wild turkeys. This cabin is great if you want to be near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It's located right in between the two towns and very near to the National Park. It's very private. The neighboring cabins are not too close. I love sitting on the top deck in the mornings and evenings and just enjoying nature. My husband, son , and I loved our vacation in the Smokies. The owner was easy to work with and the price was reasonable.
